7: Basketball Blues

After we'd all finished our pizza we sat around the room, me on my phone, Max tossing a basketball in the air, and Matt doing his work. I looked over watching Max toss the ball up catching it when it came back down before launching it back in the air in a rhythmic motion almost like breathing.

"Screw this, let's go do something." Matt stated suddenly spinning around in the chair to face us

"Thank you Matthew." Max stated sitting up showing us his ball "Lets go play."

Max had a cute toothy grin that made me smile along with him.

"Know how to play Ash?" Matt asked smirking at me

"Yes of course I do." I replied catching the ball when Max chest passed it to me

I held it up with one hand smirking "The question is do you?"

"More than you sweetheart." Matt stated grabbing the ball from me

We all stood up exiting the room before Max took off down the hallway dribbling.

"Come back here!" I yelled chasing after him alongside with Matt

We chased him down the stairs and out the building all the way to the outdoor basketball courts.

"Catch Ash!" Max yelled passing it to me

I caught it before shooting it hitting the rim making it bounce back and hit Matt in the back of the head. Me and Max broke out laughing as Matt held the back of his head looking around in confusion.

After a second he realized what happened and he chuckled with us.

"Great shot Ash." Max laughed

"I'm thinking about going pro." I replied holding up one hand

After an hour or so of playing basketball we sat on the concrete talking.

"So Ash where are you from?" Max asked smiling at me while rolling the ball to Matt

"Florida." I replied playing with my fingers thinking back to all of the fond memories I'd had in Florida

"Do you miss it there?" Matt asked rolling the ball to me

"Yeah I mean not everything but the beach, my friends, my mom." I replied looking down closing my eyes trying to hold back the tears thinking about my mom

She sent me away across the country like it was nothing, like I wouldn't miss her or maybe she didn't care. She probably has been looking for an excuse to get rid of her rebel child so she could go back to honoring her all star son, my brother Taylor.

"Ash are you okay?" Max asked breaking me from my thoughts

"I'll see you at the bonfire." I replied rolling him the ball before getting up walking away

I had to get away, I can't get close to them or anyone. My goal is to get expelled from this school ASAP so I have to go back to Florida so I can be with my friends. I took long quick strides until I found my way back to my dorm going in and upstairs. I unlocked my door and turned the handle opening the door before being roughly pushed through the door.

I fell to the ground hearing the door slam shut. I turned looking behind me and met Kane's dark blue eyes.
