Elara is desperate. Without a job, without money, and facing eviction, she literally stumbles into the luxurious headquarters of Aero Industries — and straight into the arms of the most dangerous man she has ever seen. Aero. Cold. Dominant. Untouchable. And now… her new boss. What Elara doesn’t know is that the moment she touches him, Aero realizes the truth his inner wolf accepts instantly. She is his mate. But Aero keeps silent. Instead of telling her the truth, he hires her as his personal secretary — determined to keep her close until he decides what should happen to her. But Elara is not the weak girl he expected. She challenges him. Questions him. And shakes his perfect control to its core. The longer Aero hides his secret, the stronger the attraction between them grows — and the more devastating the moment will be when Elara finally discovers the truth. Because a mate bond is not only destiny… …it is possession.

Chapter 1: Last Chance

Elara stared at the email until the letters blurred before her eyes. She had read it so many times the words felt carved into her skull like an endless echo.

“We regret to inform you…”

Of course they did.

Every. Single. Time.

Every rejection felt like another knife in her back — invisible, but sharp enough to hurt anyway.

Slowly, she closed the lid of her laptop and leaned back in the wobbly kitchen chair. The tiny apartment was quiet. Too quiet. Even the refrigerator seemed to hum judgmentally today, as if commenting on the disaster her life had become.

Dust floated through the thin rays of morning sunlight pouring in through the narrow windows.

Rejection number twelve.

A dry laugh escaped her lips, soft and bitter.

“Fantastic job, Elara.”

She dragged a hand through her hair. It had looked neat this morning, but now it stuck out in every direction from stress alone. Her gaze wandered across the small kitchen: the table cluttered with half-empty coffee mugs, the sticky notes covered in interview dates, the stack of yellowing bills shoved into the corner.

She already knew the numbers without checking her phone.

Bank account: pathetic.

Rent: overdue.

Landlord’s patience: probably gone.

A dull pressure settled heavily on her chest.

She couldn’t fall apart now. Not today.

Taking a deep breath, she grabbed the crumpled note beside her laptop. Written across it in rushed handwriting were the words:

Aero Industries — Interview — 10:00 AM

Her eyes flicked to the clock on the wall.

9:12.

Nervous energy exploded in her stomach like trapped butterflies slamming against the bars of a cage.

This…

This was her last chance.

She jumped to her feet, grabbed her folder, and threw her jacket over her shoulders. Every movement felt strangely slow, as though the universe itself were trying to stop her.

On the way to the door, she tripped over a stack of magazines.

A curse slipped from her lips as she bent down to straighten them again.

“Focus, Elara. One step at a time.”

Outside, the streets were already overflowing with people. Traffic pulsed through the city like a living heartbeat made of steel and asphalt. Cars honked impatiently, buses crawled through the thick morning rush, and somewhere nearby a cyclist rang their bell while weaving through the crowd.

The bus was late.

Of course it was.

Elara pushed through the sea of people, feeling shoulders and backpacks slam against her arms. She heard muffled conversations all around her, the sharp click of heels against pavement, occasional coughing, impatient sighs.

Every red traffic light felt like a personal attack.

For the fifth time, she checked her application folder.

Resume.

Certificates.

Cover letter.

Everything was there.

“Please let this work,” she whispered under her breath, nervously running her fingers over the edge of the folder.

The bus finally arrived with a screech of brakes and a hiss of air.

She squeezed herself inside, pressed tightly between strangers. Heat immediately closed around her — sweat, expensive perfume, damp raincoats, too many bodies packed together in one tiny space.

Every movement felt cramped. Uncomfortable. Claustrophobic.

Her heart beat faster. Her palms turned damp.

Just five more minutes to the thirty-second floor…

She repeated the thought over and over like a mantra against the panic building inside her.

When the bus finally stopped in front of the glittering business district, she nearly jumped out before the doors were fully open.

Her shoes clicked rapidly against the pavement as she hurried with the flow of people toward the massive building ahead.

Then she saw it.

Aero Industries.

Her steps slowed instantly.

Holy…

The skyscraper rose into the sky like a monolith of glass and steel, reflecting the gray morning light. Untouchable. Powerful. Expensive.

A world that did not belong to her.

Elara swallowed hard, straightened her shoulders, and forced herself forward.

You only need the job. Don’t let it intimidate you.

Easier said than done.

9:58 AM.

Two minutes.

Only two minutes left.

Elara rushed through the massive glass revolving doors into the lobby — and stopped dead in her tracks.

Wow.

Flawless cream-colored marble floors. Towering ceilings. Designer lighting installations hanging like pieces of modern art. Somewhere nearby, water trickled softly from an elegant fountain.

Luxury.

Power.

Perfection in every detail.

And she…

She felt small. Out of place. Inadequate.

“Can I help you?”

Elara flinched slightly.

The receptionist — perfectly styled and flawlessly composed — gave her a polite smile that felt efficient rather than warm.

“I— yes,” Elara stammered. “Elara Voss. I have an interview at ten.”

The woman typed something into her computer, then nodded.

“Human Resources. Thirty-second floor. Elevators are right over there.”

“Thank you.”

Breathe.

One step at a time.

Elara stepped into the elevator, and every passing second suddenly felt like an eternity.
