Blue's POV
“Alpha, what's going on?” Kylie asked me, looking really bothered. Him, alongside every wolf in the wolf kingdom had always expected a marriage of power. One between me, and another powerful Alpha, and our packs would be merged, but here I am, making a decision based off my goddess given mate, and a non chalant man that I want to suffer. “Just watch Kylie.” I smirked. “It's a game, or don't you trust me?” “I trust you, Alpha.” Kylie sighed. “Now, if he doesn't walk back in here in five minutes, find him and kill him, and I'll have the meeting.” I ordered and he bowed. I was going through his school profile and it was pretty good. He's way brilliant than the genius misogynistic father I had. He's special in fact. I checked my wrist watch, and he had just about a minute left. I was tapping the table with my right index finger, counting down to the last second when the door sprung open. A smirk appeared on my face as he walked in. He came back and sat in his previous position. He had gone out nervous and shaky, but he was very stable now. I can't imagine that he'd have just processed everything I said so quickly, and accepted his fate. “So, what do you say?” I asked, and he looked straight into my eyes. “Why exactly do you want me?” Maverick asked. His voice was soothing. “Is it to get a position? Is to spite someone?” “To spite someone, and to make him come back begging.” I responded, and he sighed. “You're an Alpha, and by the things you've told me, you're a kind of war hero that got her position by blood, sweat and intelligence.” Maverick said. “You're not expected to marry anyone of lowly status, not to talk of a human.” “Let me handle that problem.” I smiled. He does think pretty well. “I'm guessing that there'd be several attacks on my life, yeah?” “You'll have enough protection, and we just have to keep public appearances for six months.” I said. “And you'll just let me walk away after the six months?” Maverick asked. “With all your secrets?” “Definitely not.” I said truthfully. “You'll kill me?” “Nope.” I said. “There's a process that gets everything about the wolf world out of your mind. It'll basically be like you never knew anything.” I lied to him. Maverick went silent, like he was weighing the choices he really doesn't have. “So, what is it?” I asked. “Rather, what will it be?” “A contract Marriage for six months in exchange for riches, or you die for being stubborn?” I asked. “Do I even have a choice?” Maverick shook his head with a silent hiss. “I'm in.” “Good boy.” I smiled. “I'll get it in writing and send it over for you to sign. In the meantime, I have a meeting. When I'm done, I'll find you.” Maverick didn't argue. Rather, he stood up, gave quick nods and he left the restaurant gently. To think that I would have almost lashed out at Kylie for setting up a meet with a distributor in such a cheap place, to actually meeting my mate. “Now, let's meet the guy?” I asked, standing up. *** The meeting didn't take too long. I easily just threatened a cartel wolf pack's distributor from selling in my territory again. He was very compliant because the red in my eyes was not the usual red. Ashley once told me it was scarier than every other scary red she had seen. “Where to now, Alpha?” Kylie asked. “The boy's room.” I said. “You have the contract, right?” “Yes, Alpha.” Kylie said, and I walked back into the car. I told Jeff, the driver where we were headed to exactly, and he drove us there. We walked the rest of the hall to his room. I had to stop at several places to take pictures with people, and just when I had weaved through the growing crowd, I knocked on his door, and he opened immediately. I closed the door behind and it was just the two of us. I had expected his room to be dirty, or scattered at the very least, but it was clean, and that was encouraging. “Hi.” He greeted, looking at me. He was wearing a very baggy black trouser and an ash singlet. His hands were in his pocket, making his slim body look absolutely sexy. “Maverick.” I said, walking towards him. “You can't look at me like you're scared of me in public.” “Who says I am?” Maverick asked and I chuckled. “Your facial expression might not, but everything about your stench right now does. The way your heart is beating right now does.” I said. “How would you hide that from a lot of scary wolves that would be trying to test how scared you can get?” Maybe those questions were making me see how bad of an idea this whole thing had become. “I'll get over it. I'm just trying to get my head together.” Maverick said. To close up the space between us, I used my speed to get close to him, and he barely flinched, but his heart rate went up. It was so loud that it'd have made my head burst. “Do that again, and I might just lose my mind.” Maverick said calmly. “I wasn't this calm when my father first did that in front of me, but we need to find a way to get your heart rate down.” I said. “I'll figure that out.” “I don't think you understand…” “I'm serious. I'll figure it out.” He said, and I left it at that. I spent a while showing him a few things about a wolf, including shifting into my wolf. He turned back when I was about to shift into my wolf. I chuckled at the innocence he possesses. He stared in awe at my wolf, swallowing hard as he just watched. “Blue is beautiful.” He said, looking at my eyes, and then, I shifted back to my human state. I caught him off guard, and he wasn't able to take his eyes off. I wasn't sure if the awe in his face had multiplied, or he was just in shock, because he fought so hard not to look at my whole body. He has good control over his mind as he kept the look between the parts he had already seen; my boobs and face. I got dressed again, and I could easily see the bulge he had from just seeing a part of me. “You do realize that we would have to get naked a lot?” I asked. “As in, have sex just to make it look very real?” “Erm…” He swallowed hard. “I… I… I really never thought of that.” “Or you're not into the idea of having sex with a 32 year old Alpha?” I asked. “No… no… it's not that. It's just uhm…” Maverick stuttered. “Don't worry. I'm just messing with you.” I smiled, touching his face. “Sign the papers, and let's seal this deal already.” Maverick went through the papers for as long as he could. The contract was perfect, stating every single thing required from both parties. Maverick cancelled a part of the contract and then signed it. “This allows me to take half of your properties if we get divorced. Cancelling it shows the mistake.” He said, and I was shook. I checked it, and he was right. I also signed the papers and we shook hands. I pulled him close, and I kissed him on the lips to stamp the deal we had just made. “That's how wolves do it.” I lied to the startled Maverick. “See you tomorrow at the courthouse.” I hurriedly left with Kylie who had somehow dispersed everyone, and I wasn't really feeling all good. Kylie drove straight to the pack house, and I hurried to my room, still feeling very nauseous. Somehow, I knew better than to call in sick, because no wolf ever feels sick. So it can only be one thing. I dragged out a pregnancy test kit. How am I pregnant?Maverick's POV I stood in front of my mirror in the room. Liam and Chloe stood by the door with their arms folded. I could already see the tears welling up in Chloe's eyes, but there was really nothing I could do about it. I turned to look at them, and I smiled.“You don't really have to go, you know?” Chloe begged.“I have to.” I responded gently, pulling her in for a hug. She cried in my arms, holding me very tightly. “Who knows? I might come back home safely.” I shrugged, caressing her hair. It didn't make her feel any better, rather she just cried the more in my arms. I couldn't bear to see her cry, so I pulled back from the hug. “Regardless of whatever happens, we have a plan, and we'll stick to it.” I said, holding her hand. “It might just work out fine.” “Where did this sudden optimism emanate from?” Liam asked, and I chuckled, looking at him with a shrug. “You can still run away, you know?” Chloe suggested.“Nah, that'll just make me look guilty.” I pushed the idea out
Maverick's POV It was the eve of my last day in court. The day that would determine my life from here on, and I was spending it with Chloe and Liam. Blue was nice enough not to ask for it since we had spent the past week together. Despite the fake news that rolled out everyday from several blogs and stations, we moved from gala to gala, from party to party, from my dorm to her house, and we had fun in every place possible. We sat under the night sky, somewhere in the woods, just enjoying the night air. I wasn't convinced about getting free of this. In fact, I was hoping that it'd just blow over, and they'd forget about me. Having my life under scrutiny and in danger by people who believe that I killed someone I don't even know was something I wasn't interested in facing. “Maverick.” Chloe called, and I turned my face to look at her.“Huh?” I asked, trying to enjoy what could be my last night in the world. “No matter what happens tomorrow, we'll always be here for you.” She assure
Blue's POV When I woke up, Maverick was no longer by my side. I could not see any of his belongings, so I knew he had left. I sighed, thinking deeply about how well he had gotten to me. I wasn't thinking straight anymore. I just have to save him in any way possible. I caused this whole mess, and it has somehow spiralled out of control. But how else did I expect it to play out? That he'll just be set free. I was plagued by several guilty thoughts when the door opened and Maverick walked in with a tray. I was shocked.“I thought you had left.” I groaned, sitting up as he walked towards me.“Can't leave you when I've not fed you physical food.” Maverick muttered, gently placing the tray on my lap. There was bread, tea, croissants, and butter. “There was no one downstairs, and I had the whole kitchen to myself, so I made you something to eat.” Maverick muttered. “Thank you baby.” I muttered, leaning in. He met me halfway, and we kissed. He took one croissant, and went to pack his ba
Maverick's POV The ride home was very quiet on my part. I just sat in the car, staring outside the window. It happened suddenly, but I couldn't say I was shocked. There was no way I expected them not to try anything to get me down in jail by all means. One of the other wolves was in my car and was bringing it back to the pack house. We left in numbers so no one would be able to attack us. Allison kept checking in on me through the rearview mirror, and I'd always smile every time. This was the longest drive we've had back to the pack house.Blue on the other hand was receiving calls, and kept on debunking everything they had to say about me.“C'mon, don't tell me that you're too stupid to see that that's AI, it'd break my heart.” She said to one.“Do better, you really don't think that one stab to the chest would have done that to Billy. Not even a silver knife can do that to an Alpha of his rank, and why the fuck was he just standing and watching?” When we arrived at the pack hous
Blue's POV Luca was the one blowing up my phone with calls. I could only hope that Maverick didn't see who was constantly calling me. I could already guess why Luca was calling me. Afterall, I had just told his investor friend to go to hell.“Allison, reduce the volume of the music.” I said, calling Luca. He picked up the call before it could even ring. “Blue, I've been trying to reach you.” He muttered over the phone. “Yeah. I saw that.” I said nonchalantly. “Why's that?” “I wanted to apologize about how things went the last time.” Luca said, and I frowned, definitely not expecting him to even talk about that. “Okay?”“Look, I'm really sorry.” Luca said, sighing. “I know that I've gone wrong in several ways, and I can't begin to atone for each of them one by one…” There was a short pause before he continued speaking. “But, I'll apologize for them every day of my life till my last if I have to.” He said, and I chuckled. “It's okay, Luca.” I whispered. “I didn't know that tha
Maverick's POV It was easier to see Blue's baby bump now. Her stomach grew bigger by the minute. I thought she'd use a surrogate since her duties as Alpha might be so important to her, but she shocked me. She was still in my embrace, and I kept patting her head. I had just finished with Tiffany, and the plan might just be solid, although it was all dependent on luck and chance. “Why do you think my life's in danger?” I asked calmly, disengaging from the hug. “Richard… my brother…. He's trying to get revenge.” Blue shrugged. “I thought he was headed here.” Her phone was blowing up, but she kept ending the calls. At some point, I was worried that she'd slam the phone in my face. “I'm just happy to see that you're not in danger.” She whispered, holding my arms. I scoffed at her words.“I'm always in danger. You just don't know it.” I said, holding her waist. She hugged me again, and I hugged her back. I might just be the definition of everything I never thought I'd be. I could not
