Maverick's POV
“It's fine.” The stranger I had bumped into said. I wasnjust thankful that the coffee I had gotten for Chloe, Damien, and me. It was then, I raised my head and stared into her eyes. I was staring at absolute beauty. Her brown eyes captivated me, making me choke on my words. Her hair was very long, and since we were very close to each other, I didn't get the chance to look at her body, although I wouldn't have. “Erm… I'm sorry… I… I… I should get going now.” I said, finding it in me to leave. I was about turning to leave when she held me back. “Come here. Have a seat with me, and let's talk.” She said, looking straight into my eyes. She was definitely older than me, and she was way hotter than I'd have ever imagined any older lady that'd ever speak to me. “Right now?” I asked. “Uhm, I have to…” “It shouldn't take long.” She said, walking towards a particular seat in the restaurant. She settled in, and her guard or whoever he was, walked behind me as I went to sit close to her. He stood by the side and turned his back to us. I did not know what to say, how to say it, or what to feel. “What's your name?” She asked me, and as uncomfortable as I was getting, I knew I had to answer her. “Maverick. Maverick Gray.” I said. “Well, I'm Blue. Blue Ashton, but you can call me Ruins.” She said, looking at me confidently. I was barely meeting her eyes. “Ashton as in Ashton?” I muttered, not like I'd have asked it out. I'd rather get home and get full details on the looks of all the Ashtons I've read about. “Yeah. Ashton as in Ashton.” She said. I do not know how she heard me, or if she heard me, but I really have to leave this place. “You attend NYU?” “Yeah. Junior year.” “Medicine, I guess?” “Engineering.” “How do you still keep a pretty face? Most of the engineers I know almost lost their minds.” “I guess I've been finding it pretty easy.” I shrugged, and she smirked. “Tell me about your family.” Blue said, and I was taken aback again. This is the second person that'd be this interested in me. The first never even asked this fast. “Uhm… I don't… I don't think I'm comfortable discussing that topic with a total stranger.” I said while she was on her phone. “I'm so sorry if I made it sound like I was asking.” She said, looking at me. I could swear that I saw her eyeballs turn red. As terrifying as that was, it was pretty fast. “Are you fine? erm… your eyes.” “Answer the question, Maverick.” She let the red glow stay this time, and I was beyond terrified. I could not shout, neither could I scream. The Ashtons aren't supposed to be dangerous people, they're just a family of insane billionaires. “Erm…” I was breathing hard, trying to find my calm, and also get my head in the right space. “I don't have parents. I lost my family when I turned 18.” “How've you been able to pull through college then?” “Student loans.” I responded, breathing really hard, and unable to compose myself. “From what I can see here, you have the perfect CGPA. You're also in your junior year.” She smiled and nodded her head. “You're what I'd call a nerd.” The fact that she could easily pull out my records had me even more terrified. “I'm not a nerd.” I said calmly. I hate being referred to as one. “When last did you attend a party?” “Six months ago? What does that have to do with it?” “Who made you go?” “Chloe?” I shrugged. “And when last have you had a drink?” “Not really a fan.” “A smoke?” “Not a fan of that either.” “And you want me to believe you're not a nerd?” “See, I don't know what you've got going on to be having glowing eyeballs, but I'd really just like to get out of here, take some coffee with my friends and just continue living like life's good.” I said, trying so hard not to show fear. “Look, Maverick, you're an A+ student, so I'll only say this once, and I'm pretty sure you'll get everything.” She said, and then she smirked. “I am a Werewolf. An Alpha at that.” She said, and her bodyguard turned back, shocked that she was saying all these things. “Everything you've ever read in books about my kind are real, well, except a few things that you'll get to know of later.” She didn't stop there, she went on to alter my whole reality of humans and wolves. She didn't stop even when my head felt like it'd explode. “...and the craziest part of all these things is that you are my mate.” She said casually, striking me with the biggest rod. “I know you're just 23, and I'm 32, but I'm sure we can make it work.” “I an willing to offer you a deal for just six months. Marry me, keep appearances in the wolf world. Make my ex jealous by being so perfect when he's close, and I'll make sure you're free from money troubles, and also, literally any trouble.” “Refuse to take this deal, or tell anyone anything I've just told you, and I'll rip you to bits, and no one would even bat an eyelid.” She said so calmly, not even raising her voice at any point, but it all screamed authority and power. I was dazed! Shocked! It was like I had been put into a whole new idea of the world. Maybe even everything I've ever known has been a lie. “Can I go out for some air?” I asked, breathing pretty fast. “Uhm, I also have to give them their coffee, it's getting pretty late.” I swallowed hard. She put her neat and beautiful hand on the table, and her claws grew out, scaring me even more. “You have five minutes to come back with a positive answer, or I'll kill you.” She smirked, and I hurriedly grabbed the tray. They almost poured again as I was terribly vibrating. I rushed out, and Chloe was still giggling with Damian. “Oh damn, I almost forgot this dork went to get coffee.” He said, and Chloe laughed, beating his chest, taking the coffee from my hand. “Stop it.” She giggled. “He's my friend.” “Well I see why you like him. He doesn't have a pair of balls.” Damian mocked me again, and she beat him again, telling him to stop. “Thank you, Mav.” She said, patting my arm. The only plan I could make up was to run outside, beg Chloe to run away with me, so we can start a new life, but it doesn't seem like it'd happen. How far away would I even get from a pack of Werewolf hunting me down? What should I do? How would I get out of this unscathed?Maverick's POV “Uhm… what do you want?” I managed to asked, after swallowing the invisibly large lump that was in my throat. “So he talks?” She laughed, moving backwards. “Yeah?” I shrugged, trying to remain calm, making sure my heart was still beating normally. “You should be…” She was saying when Blue came out. She was wearing a blue soft linen gown that revealed a generous amount of cleaveage, and I could barely control myself.“Ashley? Leave the boy alone!” She said, coming to save me. “Ashley, nice meeting you again.” I said as Blue got right before me. “What are you doing?” Blue intervened. “Just speaking with the poor boy.” She chuckled, walking out on us. “I'll see you tomorrow. Have fun with your husband.” She said, coming back to kiss Blue. It was just a lip smash, and she was gone. I was looking thirstily the whole time, and I was just having memories of what had happened early that morning. “So, how are you?” Blue faced me, before coming to hug me. I gladly hugge
Maverick's POV I pulled her closer to myself, feeling my body twitch in ways I had never experienced before. My hand moved from her waist to the back of her neck, going with the flow as she pulled my tongue into her mouth with hers, and rolled it over hers. The soft gasps and moans in between the kisses made my head spin. I was already feeling myself journey when there was a knock on the door. We gently pulled away. She was just about an inch away from me, and my hands weren't on her anymore. “Alpha?” The person on the other end of the door said. “I'm coming.” Blue responded, maintaining eye contact with me. I was speechless, and that was the best kiss of my life, though I've barely had any. “Blue…” I whispered like a plea. “I'll send the flash drive, and I'll see you by evening?” Blue asked, holding one of my hands. My eyes travelled from her perfect face to her hand, and I looked at my hand and her hand, and a smile appeared on my face. “I'll see you by evening.” I said, and
Blue's POV I wasn't sure what I was feeling because I felt a bolt knot in my stomach at first, until I remembered her from the restaurant. She was the friend that was waiting outside with her boyfriend. She had said so many things that I could barely keep up with because my attention span would only contain trying to place where I had seen her.“I will get the shirt to you.” I said, smiling at her. She made a move to hug me, and I took her in. It was a very brief one.“You smell really great.” She complimented, literally blushing.“Thank you.” She said, and waved Maverick goodbye. Without speaking to me, he turned to walk into his room, and I guess I deserve the treatment in every way. I followed him in, and there was another guy in the room. He was spraying so much perfume, and trying so hard to be fly.“What in the Central Cee wannabe is going on here?” Maverick coughed, pushing him out. “Hi Miss Blue, I'm Liam, Maverick's home boy, and I just want to say I'm a big fan, and I rea
Maverick's POV “What's wrong?” I asked, hugging Chloe back. I wrapped her in my arms, making sure she'd feel alright. She kept crying, and I just stayed there hugging her. She stopped crying several minutes later, and when she seemed a little better, I sat her down. “I'll make you coffee.” I said, brewing some for her. I sent Liam a text, asking if he was aware of what had happened since they had probably gone to the same party.“Aren't you going to ask me what happened?” Chloe asked when I gave her the cup of coffee. “Not if you're not interested in speaking about it.” I said, shrugging gently.“Well, I want to.” Chloe said.“I'm all ears.” I muttered. “Well, Damian took me to this party, and when we got there, we joined a club where we had to play truth or dare.” Chloe said, and I could already guess how messy it could get. “I was asked to dance with a guy. I wasn't comfortable with it, but Damian told me to do it. It was a pretty harmless dance, and our bodies didn't even tou
Blue's POV I woke up a few hours later after vomiting a lot. I had the pack's doctor come check me out, and we had an understanding between ourselves to keep it a secret. One person is a lot to keep a secret, but then, she dares not reveal the secret. I had flashbacks of how I had shouted at Maverick, and threatened him too, and I hissed at myself in disappointment. “Maybe it's good.” I muttered to myself. “I'll have to kill him eventually, so.”I got out of bed, and I made my way downstairs. The pack was still working on what I had asked them to do. Kylie was overseeing the computer geeks we had in the pack. Allison was working on something I couldn't see clearly. They all stood to greet as I walked in. I folded my arms, and took a deep breath.“Allison, where are we with the cartel leader?” I asked. “Do we have a meeting set?” “Yes Alpha. It's by midnight, and it's with the Dark Haven cartel, their Don is Oliver West.” Allison said, and I gave a quick nod. “Let everyone get re
Maverick's POV “Huh?” I repeated. “What's wrong?”I closed the file I was holding, and I was planning to stand up to meet Blue. She looked tired and angry, but I couldn't place what it all had to do with me. I hadn't even crossed my boundary, I was on the couch.“Don't make me repeat myself. Leave now!” Blue growled at me, and the red in her eyes showed up. Just when I had thought that we were finally having a connection of some sort, she does this?“Are you sure I've done nothing wrong?” I asked, packing my bag.“Just get the fuck out!” She shouted at me, and I almost shook. “Okay.” I responded, putting all the files in my bag. I was on my way out when I stopped close to her. “Whatever is wrong, you'll get over it.” I said, making a move to touch her shoulder. “It'll be fine.”“The next time you touch me with your filthy ass hand, I'll break it, and you really shouldn't dare me.” Blue said, looking at me. I had never felt so less, so reduced. How could she have just switched fro
Blue's POV I had come to pick him all alone. I wasn't sure why, but I just preferred it that way. “Erm… were you able to get the files?” Maverick asked, stealing a glance. He had been stealing glances throughout the ride like he wasn't just holding me like his wife outside the car. “Yeah, Kylie has them, and they'd be waiting for you at home.” I responded, looking at him. I smiled at him, and he clearly eased up. “Thank you so much.” Maverick said, forcing a smile. “So, are you hungry?” I asked, pulling over at a place, still in the strictly wolf territory. “I'm famished.” Maverick said, and there was a glint of happiness in his eyes as I spoke about food. “The food they served wad pretty good, but I couldn't even take a spoon.” I chuckled dryly, patting his thighs. “I'll be back.” I hurriedly got down and got us fries and chicken from the restaurant we had stopped in. I went back into the car and dumped everything on his leg. There was a smile on his face that screamed about
Maverick's POV I sat beside my lawyer, Peter. He looked confident, and he was consistently flipping through the pages of my file. He'd cast a glance at me at every turn. “There's obviously something on your mind. Why not just let it out?” I whispered to him. I didn't move an inch away to prevent anyone from knowing that we were having a conversation, or even try to listen to what we were saying. “If we get this bail hearing, it'll be because of my expertise, and your luck.” Peter said calmly. “Let's try to win this though.”“This is the bail hearing of Maverick Gray Vs The Wolf Jurisdiction for the first degree murder of Billy Campbell.”I took a deep breath, about to watch Peter do whatever it is he has to do to get me out of here. “Prosection? Let's get this thing over already.” The man Blue had referred to as the General spoke. The defense lawyer stood up, buttoning his cloth. He was a middle aged man with a nice body, and I could tell that he was ready to cook. I looked aroun
Blue's POVI watched them take Maverick to his cell, and I felt pretty horrible. I don't know how long it takes for someone to grow on you, but he certainly grew on me. I wasn't sure if it was because of the mate bond, or because he was naturally interesting, but I was really not feeling like myself. I had been avoiding him for so long because I hated the way my chest would heave when he was there. I walked back to the car after calming myself. I had absolutely forgotten that Ashley was in the car with me. “Girl, I wasn't familiar with your game.” She giggled, winking at me also. “Kill what's definitely your biggest enemy, then pin it on the human that's standing in the way of your actual marriage? That's brilliant as fuck!”“What?!” I snapped. “I didn't do any of that.” I signalled for Jeff to drive us home. “What do you mean?” “I didn't kill anyone.” I sighed. “My initial plan was to just kill him when this six months thing is over.”“He's human and I can't let him leave and l
