I can't marry you

Natalia's POV

Two days had passed since my argument with Aaron, and I had been avoiding him like a plague. I wanted nothing to do with him or Kenneth, not like I had seen him in those two days.

I saw Luca, but I was not really in the mood to talk to him. I would just force a smile, and he would smile back. But that morning, I decided to spend some time with him. I had not had some human interaction in days, and I felt very lonely.

I searched for him that morning, wanting him to join me for breakfast, and I smiled when I saw him.

"Do you mind joining me for breakfast?" I asked him, and he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.

"Eh, I don't think so. I have my hands full right now." He rejected my invitation, but I shook my head, not having it.

"It's just breakfast. You will not be spending the whole day. Please." I pressured him, and his resolve weakened. He looked to his left and right, as if he was trying to be cautious.

"You are worried Kenneth or Aaron would see you?" I quickly called him out, and he frowned at me.

"Let's go inside." He finally agreed and I happily took him in.

I already had the omegas serve two portions of meal, and he took the seat opposite me.

I was about to thank him for joining me, but he beat me to it.

"Thank you for inviting me, princess."

I smiled at him. "Please just call me by my name."

He nodded in understanding. "I know that you are angry at the Alpha, and you have every right to be, but I suggest that you mind the way you speak to him or about him. You can start by addressing him as Alpha."

"Never! He would never be the Alpha to me. The only Alpha I know is dead, murdered by that stealing bastard." I hissed.

"I know. I understand how you feel, but this will only put you in trouble. I am trying to make you stay out of it. You see, the Alpha had not been in a very good mood recently, and everyone seems to be walking on eggshell around him, so I will advise you to be careful with him."

I nodded my head. "Was that why Kenneth locked me, and Aaron allowed me to be starved there for days?"

He shook his head at my stubbornness and unwillingness to address Aaron with the 'Alpha' title.

"Trust me, the Alpha was not aware that you were locked up there, and Kenneth was punished for doing that to you."

I frowned, not believing him. Perhaps he was trying to protect Aaron's image.

"That's not true. There is no way I would be locked up for three days and he would not know."

"Actually. He has not been in the house. He came to take you out of there the moment he heard that you were there." Luca said, and I shook my head.

"Why are you trying hard to convince me that he somehow cares for me? He might have freed me now, but he was the first to lock me up."

"He didn't lock you up in the dungeon, and he made sure that you had food to eat." Luca said with a shrug, but I still refused to buy into it.

"He killed my father, and nothing is going to change that." I stated, before shaking my head. "You know what, this is not meal conversation. Tell me what you have been up to. I mean all the good stuffs, nothing sad."

He chuckled, and began to tell me some of his adventures within and outside the pack. Some I found fascinating, some dangerous, some boring. I was engrossed talking to him, and I felt like that was what my body needed. I was so lost that I didn't notice Aaron approaching, but Luca noticed and he went quiet.

I frowned, as I looked up to see him, and I wondered what he came for.

"Luca, I have a list of girls that I need you to look into."

Luca nodded and I frowned even more. What was he going to do with a list of girls?

"Yes, Alpha. Anything specific you need?" He asked politely.

"Someone intelligent, responsible and mature. I don't need anyone clingy or whiny."

Luca nodded. "May I give a suggestion?"

Aaron gave him a nod. "Go ahead."

"I think you should look for something from an enemy pack."

Aaron frowned. "Why?"

"That way you get to form a treaty and eventually make peace with them. If you propose this idea, many Alphas would be willing to give their daughters, and most of the girls would be willing to marry you." Luca suggested, and Aaron nodded to himself. "When other Alphas see you at peace with an enemy pack, some of them might be pressured to also make peace. The Alpha of the pack could even help them see reason with you."

It didn't take me much to realize what they were talking about. He needed a Luna and child to secure his position as the Alpha.

"A true Alpha wouldn't need to go through all these stress." I muttered under my breath, but I knew that he heard me.

"Natalia!" He growled in warning, but I looked away from him, not at all feeling sorry for what I said.

I then stood up as I felt like I had lost my appetite.

"I have warned you enough, Natalia. The next time, a simple warning would not be enough."

"What are you going to do? Kill me like you killed my father?" I shook my head at him. "I am only sorry for the poor girl that would be picked. Imagine having to spend the rest of her life with someone like you." I attempted to walk past him, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

He looked me dead in the eyes, and I stared at him too.

"Why do I go through this stress, looking for a Luna when I can have you?" He said, and my eyes widened, my heart pounding erratically. He could not mean that right? It was only a prank, right?

I let out a nervous laugh, but there was nothing in his gaze that indicated that he was joking.

"I can't marry you. I can never marry you. I will rather die than marry you." I said, shaking my head at him, and his gaze narrowed at me.

"I can literally lock you up until the day of the wedding, and tie you down for the ceremony to be performed. Then you would be mine, and there would be nothing that you can do about it."

I clenched and unclenched my fists by the side of my dress as I tried to force air into my lungs. "You are not going to do that."

"Is that a dare I sense?"

I shook my head. "No. Please, don't let me do that. I can't marry you, I don't want to. Don't force me please." I voice broke as I thought of the possibility.

"Remember that I can do anything with you." He then left my arm and walked away, with Luca following behind him, and I was left wondering if I was going to be his bride or not.
