You need a Luna

Aaron's POV

I tapped my fingers impatiently on my office table, as I stared at Kenneth and Luca who stood before me with their heads lowered. I was angry, and they knew it.

I had been away from the pack since the past three days. Since I ascended the position of the Alpha, I have had a lot of troubles with the elders and Alphas of other packs. Most of them were angry that I killed the previous Alpha, and they wanted to know why. They wanted me to drop the title, but I stood my ground. I was not completely surprised though, because the late Alpha would sure have some loyal followers.

I then returned my attention back to the men I standing in front of me. When I came back, I asked of Natalia, and Luca told that she was in the dungeon. I asked about her crimes, and he told me that she did nothing, but Kenneth just choose to punish her.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" I asked, directing my question at Kenneth.

"She is so stubborn and needs to be tamed. I saw her leaving the pack house and I asked her to go back inside, but she refused. She brought the punishment upon herself." Kenneth said, and I shook my head.

"I freed her and allowed her to stay in the pack house and in her room. I was silently giving an order that no one was to touch her, and you went against it. What punishment do you deserve?" I asked, and he frowned.

"You can't punish me. We are friends, and we worked so hard together for you to get the Alpha position."

I suddenly got up on my feet. "After I punish you today, you will remember that I do so to my friends when they misbehave. Now, the both of you, leave."

They went to the door, and I brought out a pile of paperwork. There were a punch of things I needed to do, and I decided to start.

Kenneth suddenly turned to me as he reached the door. "You are going to need a beta to assist you with all of these. You can't be an Alpha with no beta or gamma."

Kenneth had been a big support to me, so perhaps he hoped that I would give him the position. I was very much aware that I needed a beta, and I planned on appointing one, but I needed someone that I could really trust. I was really considering him, but I knew that he was going to be power drunk. He was one of the highest ranking warriors, and he treated the ones beneath him like he was their god. Now he felt like he could go against my words, and I would forgive him because we were friends.

I sat back on my chair as I focused on the paperwork. Later I went out to the living room to meet an Elder. He was one of the elders on my side, and he had known of my plan all along.

"You have been doing very well so far, Alpha Aaron. You have managed to keep everyone calm even after what happened. I know that you have some new enemies, but I guess that you expected it. You moment you decided to kill Alpha Matthew, you should prepare yourself for the battle that would come with it." Elder Reuben said to me.

I nodded my head. "I know."

"To secure your position fully, I would advise you to do one more thing." He said, drawing my attention.

"What is it?"

"You need to have a Luna."

I shook my head in refusal. I had my head full at the moment, and a Luna was the very last of my problems.

"I don't want a Luna."

"You might not want one, but trust me, you need one. You also need her to give you a child. That is the strongest security you can get. And rule the pack well, the pack members would always cheer for a good Alpha."

I nodded my head. "I plan on doing that, but for the Luna, I am not too sure about it."

"I want you to think about it." He then stood up. "I would be taking my leave now, Alpha."

I nodded at him to go, and he left. I sat there, lost in my own thoughts. I was then distracted by the sound of someone opening the fridge. I looked up to see that it was Natalia, and I frowned.

"Why are you here? You should be in bed, resting."

Seeing her in that dungeon, she seemed like she would faint at any moment, and I knew that it was because she had nothing in her stomach and had no energy.

"I need some milk."

She stubbornly brought out the gallon of milk and she poured it into a glass, drinking it there and taking another glass.

"Are you sick?" I then asked, and she turned to me angrily. Her eyes were swollen, and I knew that she had been crying and in pain.

"Am I sick? What kind of question is that? Am I supposed to answer that? You killed my father, you locked me up in a room, then you released me and gave me a flicker of hope, only for you to ask Kenneth to lock me up again, in the dungeon this time, then starving me. I did nothing to you, and here you sit down as Alpha, asking me if I am sick? Do you think I am sick? You should answer that yourself."

I was taken aback by her outburst. Her voice broke as she spoke and fresh tears formed in her eyes. Her heart was breaking, and I knew that she was hurting very badly.

"Take the gallon and go to your room, princess." I ordered her, and she glared at me.

"Don't call me that. You made sure that I was not the pack princess anymore. You stripped me of every dignity I had. My name is Natalia, and I would appreciate it if you stick to that." She then took the gallon of milk and left.
