Chapter 18: Becky, Wake Up!

Haunter’s POV

The moment I stepped into the command room, I knew something was wrong.

The air was thick with tension, and every wolf within a ten-foot radius avoided eye contact. Luca stood stiffly by the monitor wall, his mouth drawn into a tight line. I didn’t need to ask.

“They left,” he said, confirming the sinking weight in my gut.

“Left?” I echoed, though I already knew who he meant.

Luca didn’t flinch. “Becky. Jimmy. The twins. They said there was an emergency at work. Dispatched under temporary clearance. Authorized by... no one.”

A growl rumbled up my throat.

“Where?”

Luca pointed to the feed still flickering across the screen. “Northwest sector. Near the old burial grounds.”

My blood turned cold.

“You let them go near my ancestral lands without alerting me?” I snapped.

“They timed it well. We didn’t notice until an hour later, when the rune checkpoint at the south ridge failed to log their return path.”

I clenched my fists. “She went looking for t

Chapter 17: The Frost Crown awakens.Haunter's POV.TWO WEEKS EARLIER. “I miss our mate,” Dax whined in my head again, his tone more wounded than usual.“Can you stop? I miss her too,” I snapped, running a hand through my hair as I stared blankly at the mountain of paperwork on my desk. The words were starting to blur together, not because I didn’t understand them—but because my mind wasn’t really here. It hadn’t been since she left.“It’s your fault she hates us. She doesn’t even want to see us. I mean, she’s off with her friends, probably having the time of her life while we’re stuck here, in your office, doing office work and Pack shit.”“Enough,” I muttered, slamming the pen down harder than necessary. “You know damn well it was for her own good that I rejected her years ago. It’s natural for her to hate my guts right now.”“She doesn’t hate you,” Dax murmured. “She hurts. That’s different.”I leaned back in my chair, letting the silence press into me. My eyes drifted to the fram

Chapter 16: When the Gate BleedsBecky’s POVThe first time I saw the veil bleed, it didn’t look like blood. It looked like light—silver and black, twisting like silk through the forest.I was standing at the edge of the northern ridge, watching frost curl up tree trunks despite the heat, when the space ahead of me split open.Just for a second.Like someone had drawn a blade through the world. And through that split—I saw eyes.Thousands of them.Watching.Waiting.And then it was gone. But the whisper it left behind was still in my bones.“The seal is open. The blood has been claimed.”We left the next morning. The Council was in chaos, half paralyzed by fear, the other half arguing whether to imprison me or offer me up to the Moon Gate like a sacrifice in a silk dress. So I ran.Not away from the fight. But toward the second key.“Coordinates match the ghost village of Wyrmwood,” Candy said from the passenger seat as Jimmy gunned the jeep down a gravel road.“Wyrmwood’s a myth,” Ha

Chapter 15: Blood and Bone. Backy's POV TWO HOURS LATERJimmy drove while Candy pressed her fingers to a map on her lap. Cassy sat beside me, frowning as she reviewed the coordinates etched in blood.“It’s not far,” Candy said. “It’s in the northwest sector. Near the old burial grounds.”My stomach dropped. “That’s Haunter’s ancestral territory.”Jimmy whistled low. “Guess someone wants to make it personal.”As the SUV bounced along the gravel road toward the ruins, I clutched the frost-marked journal Candy had grabbed from her mom’s old stash. It vibrated faintly in my hands like it knew we were getting close to something ancient, dangerous... divine. The road ended in a grove of dead trees. Mist hung low, coiling around the earth like waiting snakes. And at the center?A circle of stone.Old. Weathered. Covered in red sigils glowing with magic. We stepped out cautiously. The sigils began to flicker the moment I approached. My hand burned with frost and flame at once. Lora stirred.

Chapter 14: The Frost Crown.Becky’s POVThe moon hung lower than usual—fat, silver, and too quiet for comfort. The kind of night that made you feel watched.I stared at my palm, the faint, glowing crescent mark etched in the center, still shimmering with cold. It hadn’t stopped since I collapsed earlier—hadn’t even dimmed. Like a timer counting down to something I didn’t understand.Jimmy, Cassy, and Candy sat around me, hushed now. Candy had lit a stick of sage that crackled like static, its smoke curling around us in protective spirals.“Are you sure it was a vision?” Cassy asked cautiously. “Not just a dream or panic hallucination?”I shook my head. “I’ve never seen anything like that before. It wasn’t just visual—it was… real. I could feel the ice beneath me. I could hear the wind whispering things. And Haunter… he wasn’t himself.”Candy chewed on her nail. “You said he had thorns and…?”“An ice crown,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “And my body—my body was at his feet. F

Chapter 13: We're cooked. Becky's POV. “Gosh… why is today fuckin’ hot.” Jimmy whined, his entire upper body stuffed inside the open freezer like it was a portal to Narnia. “If this weather was a person, I’d sue.”“Yeah, tell me about it." Candy said standing in front of the air conditioner. “Why are y'all complaining about the weather being hot?" Cassy said mockingly. " It's free tan, a natural one at that.”" It's true, that's why you can be the first and if we like it, we'll go after.” I said sarcastically with a mocking smile. Before turning to look at Jimmy who was staring at me with a corky smirk, a hint of mischief in his eyes. Jimmy gave me that smirk—the one that always meant trouble was loading like a virus on dial-up internet. “What?” I narrowed my eyes at him.“You’re starting to sound like me,” he said proudly, still half inside the freezer. “Sarcasm, sass, shade. I’m rubbing off on you.”“Great,” I deadpanned. “Exactly what I needed. Frostbite fingers and Jimmy-flavo
