Chapter 29: Shadows and Half-Truths.

Becky’s POV

It was past midnight when I made it back to the pack house, the kind of late that made your footsteps feel louder than they should and every creak in the floorlboards sound like a siren.

I’d parked two streets down just to avoid the guards at the gate. Not because I was doing anything wrong—technically—but because explaining how I spent twelve hours in a cursed basement with my Chaos Coven searching for a dead witch and a codename sounded like a guaranteed way to trigger a full-scale intervention.

My boots were in my hand, my jacket wrapped tight around my waist, and my breath held like it owed me money. I moved through the shadows like I belonged to them, hugging the walls, avoiding the moonlight pouring through the tall arched windows.

The house was mostly asleep—mostly. A few lights flickered faintly on the lower floors. Kitchen. One of the side offices. Probably guards who couldn’t sleep or kitchen staff prepping for tomorrow’s ungo

Chapter 30: Entangled Threads.Becky’s POVIt had been two weeks since the night Haunter caught me sneaking in.Since his voice sliced through the dark like a whip, dragging the truth out of me with a single question. And in that time… something shifted. No, everything shifted. We didn’t talk about it. Not the curse. Not the cult. Not the bond. But it was there—pressing between us like a loaded spring, coiling tighter every time our eyes met across the training field or during patrol briefings. Every time I walked into the war room and found him already there, fingers pressed to his temple like I was the one giving him a migraine. He didn’t smile. He didn’t flirt. But he didn’t avoid me either. He watched. He noticed. He remembered.Like how I hated sugar in my tea. Or how I always rolled my right ankle a little after long runs. Or how I couldn’t sleep unless the windows were cracked open.He didn’t say anything—but those small things? He adjusted for them. And that was worse than any

Chapter 28: Chaos Mode ActivatedBecky's POV “It’s in the fridge,” I said, pointing with my thumb. “Next to the emergency potion stash and behind the dead plant we all forgot to water.”“Oh, thank god,” Candy muttered, already sashaying toward the kitchen in heels that looked like they could kill a man. “I’ve had a day.”Jimmy walked in last. Calm. Sharp. Dressed in that infuriatingly casual hacker-core hoodie with some ironic quote stitched across the back and boots that screamed I know where your secrets live. He gave me one long look over the rim of his iced coffee (with a biodegradable straw, obviously), pursed his lips, and flopped dramatically into the chair across from me.“Honey,” he said, eyes narrowing as he opened his laptop, “is this a ‘we’re all going to die dramatically in a fireball of cursed energy’ situation? Or is this more of a ‘digging up dead drama from your haunted bloodline’ thing?”I rubbed my temples. “Too early to tell. Could be both. Might just ruin a few a

Chapter 27: The Quiet Before the Reckoning.Becky’s POVI returned to the office with dust in my hair and the weight of blood magic under my skin.No one noticed.Or if they did, they were too used to pretending not to.Mira was gone—thank the stars—but the scent of her perfume still lingered like bad decisions and expensive denial. I sat at my desk, powered up my terminal, and stared at my screen for… I don’t even know how long.Emails blurred into nonsense. Reports I was supposed to approve might as well have been written in Old Draconic. I think I nodded at someone. Maybe even signed something. But my mind was elsewhere.Locked in that storage room.On that name.Beckira.I kept hearing it in my head. Over and over again like a heartbeat that didn’t belong to me. It didn’t even feel real yet, not fully. Like a ghost of someone I used to be—someone I was supposed to be—before someone got scared and rewrote my entire existence.I didn’t tell anyone what I found. Not Jimmy or the twin

Chapter 26: Soft Launch RedemptionHaunter’s POVThere’s no guidebook on how to win back a woman you rejected without telling her you did it to save her soul from unraveling the supernatural fabric of existence.Trust me.I checked. And if there was one, I doubt it’d start with: “Step 1 — Act like an emotionally constipated war general for three years, then awkwardly offer her coffee and hope she forgets you crushed her heart.”So yeah. No manual. Just me, pacing my office like a divorced vampire dad rehearsing apologies that’ll never land right.“She hates me,” I muttered.Luca, sitting on my couch and scrolling through some magical security breach report, didn’t even look up. “Mhm. She should.”“I rejected her.”“Brutally,” he added.“I had to.”He finally looked at me. “And she still doesn’t know why. That’s the problem.”Exactly.After the whole Gate, curse, moon goddess reincarnate and reborn or redirected thing, she just went back to her usual life like nothing happened and bare

Chapter 25: You Can’t Just Coffee Your Way Into My SoulBecky’s POVA FEW HOURS EARLIER I woke up feeling like I’d been steamrolled by a planet.Every joint ached. My brain was foggy. Even my eyelids hurt, and I didn’t know that was biologically possible. My wolf, Lora, was quiet—too quiet—which was how I knew she was just as drained as I was.Twenty-four hours. That’s how long I’d apparently slept. After almost dying. But here I was. Alive. Kinda.“Beckira,” Lora whispered, voice dry and hoarse. “I feel like soup. And not in a cozy way. In a ‘please put us back in the freezer’ way.”Same, girl.Dragging myself out of bed was a mistake. Every step felt like my bones were made of wet cardboard. My shirt clung to me weirdly, and my hair had decided to form its own sentient clumps of rebellion. I didn’t even bother brushing it—I just threw on a hoodie, pulled the sleeves over my hands, and shuffled toward the kitchen like a cursed forest gremlin in search of caffeine.I didn’t expect an
