Chapter 3: Mating Game about to begin

Gray spit at Alpha's feet and the other girls gasped.

"Bite me, old man," she said, mocking Alpha Rex when he ignored her and walked over to Alice, who looked at him with tears.

Alpha Rex softened.

"My beautiful daughter," he said, cupping Alice's cheek in his hands, and everyone watched in shock. Alpha Rex had a daughter? And Alice had the blood of an Alpha?

Alice threw herself into the Alpha's arms and could no longer keep her stoic composure.

"Dad, please!" Alice said, begging.

Gray's heart lurched, remembering her exchange of words with her father before she left. She missed him so much and worried that no one would look after him. Her brother had already left for the new pack. He now belongs with his mate, and Gray was afraid that her bitch called stepmother would neglect her father.

She'll make sure to survive this one whole week of hell and return to collect her father and leave their sorry-called pack away from her nagging stepmother.

Alpha Rex kissed his young daughter on her forehead and backed away. And he then ordered all the girls to remove their shoes. Gray hadn't come with any since she was relaxing in the confines of her own home when the council's men came to take her away. There was a chase first before she was taken successfully.

Gray looked down at her muddy and bare feet and growled. She wished she had a slipper on just so she could disobey the Alpha one last time, or she would throw it at him to score at least once.

Alpha Rex smirked at her and left the room. Gray felt herself longing to shift so that he could rip his heart out of his chest.

Soon the room was silent again, save for Alice's sobs from the middle of the room.

While waiting for the game, Gray slept to save her strength. It must have been later in the afternoon. Almost all the girls were whining and sitting like they were waiting for their doom.

"You're awake."

Gray was startled and looked towards her left to see Alice looking up at her with eyes.

"Can I talk to you? You seem very approachable," Alice said.

Gray nodded slowly.

"Sure," she replied.

Gray wasn't comfortable around Alice, especially after discovering she was Alpha's daughter. She despises Alpha Rex so much and doesn't know if she can completely warm up to Alice anymore.

Alice was a tall girl at the age of seventeen. She has long blond hair and forest-green eyes. She was a full-blooded American she-wolf and a direct descendant of an alpha. Gray, on the other hand, was a hybrid wolf of American and Asian genes. Yes, she wasn't tall as Alice, but she had a unique beauty that you can immediately notice when you see her for the first time. She had a very Asian face since her mother's genes dominated her father's. Her monolid honey pool-colored eyes don't need exposure to sunlight. She has those natural eye colors that will make you think she was crying or she was about to cry.

No one really expected that this harmless woman with expressive eyes was a tiger in a kitten's skin. Examples of those unlucky people were the Alpha and her stepmother.

"Okay, I know what you might be thinking. I've never told anyone that Alpha Rex was my father. Please don't assume things about me just because I'm his flesh and blood," Alice said.

Gray regarded Alice carefully. She could tell that Alice had been properly trained. She was muscular and toned. If Alice decides to attack her, Gray will ensure she wins. She bites. But Gray wanted to save her energy for later, not for a fight between them, so she decided it wasn't fair for Alice to be disliked by her without letting her explain herself first.

"Go and explain your excuse," Gray said, annoyed. After her rebellion against the Alpha, she thought that Alice had probably laughed at her in her mind.

The girl beamed and got comfortable.

"Well, I'm not related to Luna at all. I'm just an illegitimate daughter of Alpha Rex from a rogue who was supposed to be hunted by him. Mom got him drunk at the bar where he found her, and poof, that's how I was made," she said.

Gray chuckled dryly.

 "How romantic."

Alice laughed a little but then became serious.

"I know a lot of people hate my father right now. I even hated him when he told me I would be participating and shipped here after knowing I was a Haquihana, although he trained me personally. Trust me, I know all the risks, but he sent me anyways. And even though I love my father, I'll never forgive him for that," she said.

Gray was surprised at the amount of venom in the girl's voice, but she couldn't blame her. To Gray, it sounded like her bastard Alpha sent Alice away so that he wouldn't deal with her anymore. Alpha Rex has two children, a son who always followed Gray and courted her, promising her the moon and the sun, which she always turned down within a second he tried to express his feelings, and a daughter, an extreme wanna-be-barbie bitch who envied Gray. Alice is the decent child he has, but he's sending her away to focus on his legitimate waste of children. Gray wanted to voice it out, but Alice probably figured it out. She's an intelligent girl, after all.

A voice startled all the girls in the room and made Gray scream in annoyance after getting used to silence after hours of sitting. She remembered her stepmother's nagging voice early in the morning, trying to wake her up.

"You will now be released into the forest arena. Alphas and other males are waiting once you step out of this room. There are resting spots that are open for a week. You will get a three minutes head start, free to fight, hide or escape your pursuers. Once you are caught and marked, you've been mated; therefore, you are already the property of the one who caught you. But please avoid an Alpha fight if you want to stay alive."
