LOGINNate’s POVThis was certainly something that I did not expect, if I were being honest. But it was right there, staring right back at us, the room that led to the Control Center. But it was not the plan to go there right now. We had planned to have a look around for a while before finally finding it and doing what we had come here to do. But it was right there. What were we supposed to do? Just walk past it and pretend like we did not see it? I walked past Zane, who was standing and staring at the door from a distance. “What are you doing?” He asked as he proceeded to follow me. “It’s right there, Zane. We’re going in,” I said, making up my mind. “Sir…” “Drop it,” I replied without missing a beat. “Maybe this is a sign that we should not waste our time looking around the property as if it were what we actually came here for. We don’t have much time, either.” He breathed out a sigh. “Sure,” He said in response, giving in easily. I did not expect that, to be honest. I had expected
Nate’s POVWe were now inside the Pack House, but we had been told to wait in a living room that was specifically for guests. I did not know how long we had been waiting, but I was starting to get a little annoyed. I really wanted us to be able to do what we had come in here to do instead of just sitting down. But we did not have much of a choice. Right when I was about to turn to tell my beta that we should just go and find the control room, Alpha Leon appeared with someone by his side. He looked a bit tired. His eyes were droopy a bit, his shoulders looked weak, and he looked almost sad, if I was not overthinking. “Nate, is something wrong?” He asked as he sat down on the couch opposite us. He gave us a weak smile. “Are you guys here to reconsider my offer of moving into the Pack House?” I smiled. “A bit, but we wanted to have a look around the Pack House first, you know?” I replied smoothly. He chuckled. “Well, if that is what it will take for you guys to move in, no problem.”
Sage’s POVI had packed all of my things. I did not want to have to buy new ones. Not especially with Bastian’s blood money. I mean, everything that I had gotten so far had not been totally innocent, but you get my point. All I was saying was that I had done some pretty messed up things, I know. But what the King of the Dead Knights was asking me to do was just beyond f*cked up. Killing Leon would be something that would haunt me for the rest of my life. But if I did not do so, I wouldn’t even have a life to be haunted. And there won’t be anyone to take care of my parents. That was something that also made me not want to die. I did not want to leave my parents behind with nothing but hospital bills and disgrace. That was the last thing that I would ever want to do. A knock sounded at the broken door that was leaning to the side. I looked up to see that it was Leon. “I know,” I said. I knew that it was time for me to leave. Bastian had texted me an hour ago that the mansion was alr
Sage’s POVTime was up. I knew that it was, and I had to make a decision. I had to literally decide whether I was going to let myself die instead of Leon. And I just wish I knew exactly what to do. “Sage, I’m not f*cking joking. If you don’t answer my question, I’m going to choose for you. And I would definitely be choosing to have you killed in place of Leon,” Bastian said. “You literally agreed to be my queen. Did you think that you would just get to have all that life has to offer without paying a price?” He chuckled faintly. I swallowed and then released a shaky sigh. “Okay…I think I’m ready to make a decision.” Tears burned my eyes, and the knot in my throat only grew bigger. I had never been so stressed in my life. I felt like I was going crazy. Everything felt surreal, but the pain that I was feeling was a great way to know that this was all reality. “Mm-hmm,” He encouraged me to continue. “Um…” My voice broke, and the tears that I was holding back fell down my face. “I wil
Sage’s POVA knock sounded, and it pulled me out of my thoughts, causing my heart to skip a beat. It was coming from outside, not the bathroom door. I sniffled and wiped at my face with the back of my hand. I dragged myself from the bathroom floor and stood on my feet before making my way out. That was when I saw him standing there. It was Leon. My heart dropped, and immediate guilt started to stab at my chest. He had a plate of food in his hand as he made his way over to me. He had a small frown, but there was a softness in his eyes that I could not miss. “Here.” He handed the food to me, and I tentatively took it. “You should eat. But also, this does not fix anything between us. You have five hours to leave, or the guards will have your things thrown out.” I nodded, still looking at him. “Fair enough.” I then looked away, feeling like he could read my mind, and gosh…I would hate for him to know that not only had I betrayed him, but I was being told to do it again. He turned to l
Nate’s POVWe were headed back to the hotel. We used the back entrance as we always had. Everyone knew that the Alpha King was supposed to be staying in there, so we had to use another way to enter, considering that my beta and I were disguised. So what we would do would be: we would go to the back of the hotel, and then we would change into what the staff would notice us as royals before going in. And they did not have a clue about anything that was actually going on. Now in our rooms, I sat on the bed and sighed, proceeding to lie down and looking up at the ceiling. “What are we going to do?” I asked my beta. Zane chuckled from somewhere in the room that was not far from me. But due to the position that I was in, I could not see him. “A public figure, a child, and Cassie,” He began. “Why do you think that it could be Leon, though?” “I don’t know,” I replied. “He’s also a public figure.”“But why don’t you think that it could be one of the other many Alphas from the other packs?”
