EZRA

She lay beneath me, skin flushed, breath shallow, eyes wide like she couldn’t quite believe what had just passed between us.

I wasn’t sure I could believe it either.

Her moans still echoed in the corners of my mind. The way she had gasped my name… my real name. Ezra. Not the title I wore in school. Not the mask I put on in public. She’d peeled that off me with nothing but honesty. And hunger.

I hadn’t touched a woman in years. Not like this. Not since Gyai.

I gathered her carefully in my arms. Gently. Slowly. My body shifted beside hers, not heavy, but present, surrounding her like I was trying to shield her from something. Maybe from myself. Her skin was warm, her cheek resting against my chest. Her fingers curled loosely at the hem of my shirt, as though she didn’t realize she was holding on.

She was quiet, but not asleep. Her breathing had slowed but there was still a tension in her body, like her nerves hadn't settled. I could feel it in the faint tremble under her ribs, in t

JACQUELINEI gasped, tilting my head to the side, giving him more of my neck, and he pressed his mouth there again, lingering. And then I felt his teeth graze the delicate flesh, and I almost came undone.Suddenly, Mr Philips stopped again.I shut my eyes and fought the urge to scream."What?" I asked, breathless. "Haven’t I made it clear enough that I want this as much as you do?"He stared at me for a long moment, his eyes unreadable but burning. "You have made it pretty clear," he said quietly. "But I won’t allow our first time to happen by the window."My breath caught in my throat."We need a bed for this."And just like that, he bent down, lifted me into his arms, and held me in a bridal carry. His strength was effortless, his touch steady and sure. My skin tingled in excitement. He didn’t stop because he was having second thoughts. He had stopped because he wanted this to be right. He wanted it to be perfect.I wouldn’t have minded doing it by the window. But the fact that he w

JACQUELINEMr Philips leaned in and kissed me.It wasn’t hurried or desperate the way I thought it would be. His mouth moved against mine in slow, deep strokes that made my toes curl inside my shoes. His lips were softer than I remembered, but firmer too. He kissed like he was learning me, studying every tiny sound I made. His hand came up, cradling the back of my head, and the warmth of it sent goosebumps tumbling down my arms.I forgot how to breathe. The kiss from the party had been wild, drunk, electric. This one… this one made my knees tremble. His thumb brushed along the curve of my jaw. My lips parted beneath his and his tongue slid into my mouth, coaxing a small, helpless moan from my throat. I melted under the weight of it, completely undone by how gentle he was being. His mouth tasted like heat, like something dark and addictive I hadn’t known I needed.I pressed closer. He didn’t stop me.His other hand gripped my waist, fingers curling against the fabric of my shirt, not p

JACQUELINEI could still feel the tremor. The last of it rippling through me long after he’d hung up the phone. Long after his voice had turned calm again.I had never heard anyone speak like that. Not a threat laced with panic or cruelty. His voice had been still, firm, and final. Like he didn’t just mean what he said to Samuel but had already seen himself doing it. Like it wouldn’t trouble him in the slightest to carry it out.I had no doubt he meant every word.It terrified me. But that wasn’t the only thing it did.Something about the certainty in his voice, the ease with which he claimed violence, left a heat crawling along my skin. A sharp reminder that Mr. Philips was not like anyone else I knew. Not even close. There was a reason students feared him. There was a reason I had once feared him too.Because there was something untouchable about him. Something that made you feel like he saw right through you. That if you stepped the wrong way, he could break you apart with nothing

EZRA“I never pinned you like the type to take in strays, Mr Philips.”“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Jacqueline.”I didn’t say it out loud, but it burned at the edge of my mouth like a dare. Instead, I shut my eyes and leaned back against the leather, trying to get control of myself. Of everything.I had almost kissed her.The only thing that had stopped me was the damned cat, who had somehow wedged herself between us like some small orange chaperone. Apparently, a stray had more self-awareness than I did. She knew where boundaries should lie. I, on the other hand, was losing mine.I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling, teeth grinding. I had never allowed myself to slip like that. Not in decades. Not since the loss of Gyai. I had built a wall around myself, layered it with steel, frost, and silence. No one got through. No one even tried. And then this girl came along. Loud in spirit. Soft in voice. Braver than she had any right to be. And I let her in. Into my thoughts.

JACQUELINEI couldn’t believe I was here. Inside his home. Sitting on his couch. The air in the room was warm but my skin prickled as if someone had just poured cold water down my spine.Mr Philips had opened the door before I even got the chance to knock. He hadn’t looked surprised. Had he seen me through the window? Was that how he knew? His house looked exactly like his office. Bare. Sterile. There was no mess, no warmth. Just clean walls, furniture in muted grays and blacks, a single lamp in the corner casting a soft golden hue over the room. There were no pictures on the wall. No framed certificates. Not a single thing that told a story about who he was.Not even a book out of place. The couch was a soft leather, the kind that made no sound under your weight, the kind that didn't invite comfort. The silence stretched between us as he sat down beside me, elbows resting lightly on his knees, gaze locked on mine. His eyes were impossibly dark, like he held secrets deeper than ocea
