Natalia POV“Margaret?” Her name leaves my voice in no more than a whisper. She shuffles uncomfortably where she stands. “It’s me,” she says with sarcastic enthusiasm. “Oh my Goddess,” I breathe out as I pull her into a strong embrace. Stretching my arms out in front of me I hold her there, looking over her body, unable to believe that she is actually there. “I thought you were dead.” Tears threaten to stream down from my eyes I as hold her closely to me once again. “I should have never left you alone that night.”“You couldn’t have known what he is capable of,” Margaret says uncomfortably against my shoulder because I refuse to let her go. “I am sorry I did not tell you that I was leaving,” she pulls herself away from me as speaks. “I just couldn’t…”Pressing my fingers to her lips I refuse to let her say another word. “You did not know who you could trust,” I fill in the blanks for her. “That is completely understandable. Are you here to find your mate?” I ask curiously
Victor POV After a long night of keeping watch on the border, it went exactly like Natalia said it would. None of the rogues tried to get into the Kingdom and only a few werewolves from the Kingdom filtered past the border. Their noses were stuck in the air, hunting down their mates. The sky is turning into a purplish hue indicating that the sun is slowly rising in the East. Letting out a loud sigh, I stretch my arms out to my sides and head back to the rogue camp to get some much needed sleep beside my mate. Jax is already purring gently in my head with excitement. Slowly I walk back to the rogue camp with Jax chattering loudly in my mind. He is complaining that he had to spend the full moon away from his mate because I did not trust her judgment. I have to admit that she was right. There was no threat from the Kingdom tonight. As I walk back towards the center of the rogue camp it is deserted. Everyone dispersed and went home after the night's festivities. Assuming tha
Natalia POVMy eyes have difficulty opening. I am laying on my side and there is a gag wrapped around my mouth, keeping me from making any noise. My hands and feet are bound together and I am unable to move. The air is thick with a woodsy smell and I am having a hard time breathing. The gag in my mouth keeps me from being able to gasp for air. Slowly my eyes adjust to the darkness around me and they widen at the sight around me. I am surrounded by purple, bell shaped flowers. Wolfsbane. I am surrounded by wolfsbane. Reaching back into the recesses of my mind, I search for Adeline. 'Adeline,' I whisper weakly in my mind. 'I am here,' her voice and presence is weak within me. 'What happened?' I ask her hoping that she remembers more than what I do. 'I don't know,' Adeline's voice is fading softer and softer. 'But I feel myself fading away.''Adeline,' I call out in my mind as loud as I can but there is no response. 'Adeline,' I whisper again but she is gone.I look aro
Natalia POVI stretch my arms out widely to my sides and roll over in the most comfortable bed that I have ever been in. It feels as if I am sleeping in a cloud with the softest blankets covering my skin. A series of giggles reach my ears and my eyes flutter open. Opening my mouth into a big yawn the giggles turn into shrieks of fear. Propping myself up in the comfortable bed I see little flowered heads with pointed ears peeking over the end of the bed. Their bright green eyes are shining with both fear and wonder. I have no idea where I am and who these children are. "Hello?" I say as I look curiously at the children at the end of my bed. "Where I am?" I cock my head to the side and look at the children with a smile on my face. "Where are your fangs?" One of the children asks quietly before ducting back down below the end of the bed where I can no longer see her. "Fangs?" I ask in confusion. The two children look at each other and burst into a fit of giggles. "Aren't
Natalia POVRacing from the bathroom with my hand covering my neck I swing the pink wooden door to the room open and rush through it. Adelle is waiting for me on the other side of the door with a pleasant look on her face that drops instantly when she sees the shock spread across my face. "My mark!" I exclaim loudly. "My mate's mark is gone."Adelle cocks her head to the side and stares at me for a moment, as if to judge whether I can handle the truth or not. "Magic from other realms does not work here," she says simply. "It wasn't magic," I cry out loudly. "It was my mate's mark. My soulmate's mark." Cocking her head to the other side, Adelle stares at me in strange amusement. "Do you not believe that being able to find one's soulmate is a form of magic?" "No!" I yell out. "It is a gift from the Moon Goddess." Tears are streaming down my face as I try to find the marks where Victor's canines pierced my skin. "A gift from Selene herself," Adelle says with a bit of a ch
Alexander POV Impatiently I drum my fingers on my desk. Larissa should have been here hours ago to report on what is happening in the rogue camp. It is very unlike her to keep me waiting. I have a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach and I am sure that something has gone wrong with my seemingly flawless plan. While I wait I shuffle through some paperwork on my desk that has been set aside for too long. As I am flipping through the unfinished paperwork a loud knock on my door interrupts me. "Come in," I say hoping that it is Larissa on the other side. But my face falls in disappointment when I look up and see Raphael standing in the doorway to my office. "What is it?" I groan knowing that he probably only has bad news. "The Fae Creature is at our borders and would like a meeting with you," Raphael says with an odd tone in his voice. It is as if he is trying to contain some sort of excitement that is bubbling up in his chest. "Why would he want a meeting with me," I say
Natalia POV "Surely a wolf that has lived two lives can believe in the prophecy that was written for her," King Lignum says and I drop my fork in surprise. "I am unsure of what you mean," I choke slightly on the fruit that is now lodged in my throat. King Lignum gives me a knowing look before he continues to speak. "Did you know that each Fae here in the realm has their own powers?" The sly smirk spreads across his wooden face once again. "For instance, Adelle is able to calm any creature with just the touch of her hand and my brother Esau is able to see the future of any creature." King Lignum studies me carefully before returning to the food that is on his plate. "What is your power?" I ask unsure if I am sure I want to know or not. "I can see into people's minds," he says before he pops a red fruit into his mouth. "What can you see?" I whisper.King Lignum leans closer to me and whispers, "I can see everything." He leans back into his seat before continuing. "I ca
Natalia POVMy eyes flutter open as the warm sunbeams shine through the open windows of my bedroom. Two weeks I have been here in the Fae Realm and have been treated with nothing but respect. They have made it clear that I am not a prisoner even though I am unable to return home. Every morning I reach my arms wide out to my sides and wish that Victor was here with me. My heart aches being so far away from my mate but I find it easier to manage the pain without the mark that used to sit upon my neck. I can only hope that Victor is not in too much pain while he waits for me to return from the Fae Realm. That is, if he even knows where I am.Tiny knocks rap on my bedroom door and I know exactly who they belong to. Throwing the blankets over my head, I hide under the covers and wait for the little creatures to find their way into my room. The large pink door creeks as they open it up, immediately giving them away. "Shh," Flora whispers to her brother. I can hear their little fee
