It had the deepest darkness that started from one single point, spreading out in five directions. Even though it was a sketch, it seemed there was something beneath the thick roots and vines, but it could not be seen no matter how they tried.

The image looked like a hand with five fingers, made of roots, thistles, and thorny vines twisting tightly together as they spread out.

However, one of the fingers seemed short, almost as if it were cut deliberately. The thorny vines and roots had jagged

Regaleon’s gaze settled on the folded parchment Shane had placed on the table. “What is this?” “The intel from House Blackwell was not the only message I received.” Shane answered quietly. “I’m afraid we may have a problem.” The amusement that had lingered within Regaleon’s dark eyes moments before, disappeared almost instantly, and his hand moved toward the parchment.Silver eyes have left the palace. The message was brief, yet the study fell silent like something had reached into the room and strangled sound before it could escape. So much that Shane felt it first… a tightening in his chest, and he shifted uneasily on his feet as the air around him solidified, pressing down with a weight that made it harder for him to breathe. Even the warmth from the fire felt distant as a sudden shiver worked up his spine. Regaleon did not look up. That was worse. His dark hair fell forward, veiling his expression as the air around him shifted, tightening the knot in Shane’s chest. When Re

The scratching of a quill filled the study, along with the scent of books, leather and ink. Parchment after parchment passed beneath Regaleon’s hands, his signature appearing where required, his seal pressed where necessary, yet despite the mountain of work before him, very little of his attention remained on it.His gaze drifted toward the window, at the winter sunlight disappearing behind the distant jagged mountains and bathing the kingdom in amber light.I mean we will properly become husband and wife. I will see you tonight… wife. The words had rolled off his lips quite easily when he had said them. Yet now… Regaleon’s jaw tightened, why had he said that?A deep sigh escaped his chest as he rested his back with dark strands of hair falling across his face and casting a shadow over his eyes. His silhouette beneath the candlelights accentuated the rugged allure in his effortlessly raw and controlled masculinity as he stared into space. More importantly, why does he… anticipate i

“What is your name?” The low fires crackling from the fireplace warmed up the room quickly. With the windows shut and curtains drawn, the wintry chill that had Kyla’s cheeks growing pale was kept at bay. And as she made herself comfortable on the sofa, she did not dispute the fact that Lillia's dress was absolutely warm and soft to her skin, so much that she felt out of place for even wearing it. “Kyla, my lady.” She replied quietly, lowering her head. Her eyes lingered on her fingers, watching them involuntarily dig into her dress. It had been quite a while since Lillia, Maera and Selene left. Elder Blackwell must be doing a pretty good job, to have kept the guards till now. She thought momentarily as Nefertiti’s voice floated into her thoughts again. “Oh yes, Kyla. Forgive me, child.” Nefertiti tilted her head thoughtfully. “Now that I think about it, I heard Lillia call you once, but what is your full name dear?” Kyla stiffened. Her fingers paused, digging even deeper into her

“DIE—” Amelia shouted as bioluminescent veins shot out of the water and pulled the entity apart. But, just behind the entity, millions of red burning orbs for eyes appeared in the darkness as a continuous cackling sound echoed.“Amelia, whatever you’re doing, don’t stop. They can’t get in the water.” Lillia’s claws shot out, her senses flaring in high alert as she glared at them. Dozens of distorted figures hurled themselves across the cavern walls and ceilings in frenzied pursuit while decay spread rapidly behind them, swallowing more and more of the glowing tunnels into darkness.Long claws stretched downward from the cavern ceilings, swiping violently at the women each time the river carried them too close to the edges. Hollow faces lunged through narrow openings while jagged teeth snapped inches from Lillia’s head before the water forced them back again. It felt like a dance with death, bringing them close and closer still, just to pull them apart, before they could touch, and w

The fight is not over yet. Wake up!WAKE UP—Lillia gasped hard as her eyes shot open in the darkness. Her claws grasped frantically, raw panic setting in almost instantly as mouthfuls of water gushed into her lungs. She was still beneath the raging river. Amelia! Realization snapped brutally with the weight on her chest as the hand that had been holding Amelia suddenly grasped water and the panic exploded. “AMELIA—” Lillia’s hands flew to her throat before she resumed grasping and kicking, twisting frantically beneath the raging current a

“RUN!” Lillia grabbed Amelia’s wrist instantly and bolted just as a large decayed structure landed a few feet away and sent them flying. More and more structures shattered apart overhead while black cracks spread through the sky like rot devouring flesh. Rivers hanging in the air curdled dark and thick before crashing downward in torrents of blackened water.Beneath them, the grounds shook, shifting wildly as it reacted frantically to Amelia’s fear. And behind them came the shrieks. “LOOK OUT!” Lillia lunged, quickly snatching Amelia’s wrist just as one of the shadows burst from the collapsing ground beside them. Its limbs unfolded wrong, bending in direction bones never should. She almost sighed from the near miss, but almost at that same time, a jagged structure already corrupted by decay appeared just above their heads before Lillia could notice or even react. Her breath hitched so violently a burning wave surged through her chest. But as she mentally prepared for collusion, g

“Shoulders back.”Selene’s voice cut cleanly through the quiet of Lillia’s bedchamber. The heavy curtains had already been drawn aside and morning light spilled across the wide rugs, the low table pushed toward the wall, and the sofas cleared to create space in the centre of the room. Kyla gasped. “You are sending His Majesty’s gift to Lady Greyson? Is this okay?” Her wide eyes shifted to Maera and Selene quickly, as if to see their reactions, before turning back to Lillia. But Lillia just smiled, softly. “Yes, Kyla.” She answered. “I believe this is why he opted to have my dr

His gaze lowered slightly further, locking fully with the tall man as the man staggered, involuntarily taking steps backward, before realizing and forcing his feet to stand. His eyes shifted from Regaleon to his comrade who was now dead, and his expression twisted in fury.“Why—you!” He shouted in
