Angelique’s POV:

[Late At Night | Malakai’s Chamber, The Balcony]

I didn’t know which was more embarrassing.

The fact that I got stuck on this rope, or the stupid, stupid urge to see Malakai that got me here in the first place.

Embarrassment flowed in my veins like blood. But so did… relief. Yes, relief and something else I shouldn’t feel.

The night was quiet, filled by the sound of breathing that belonged to me. Only me.

Malakai didn’t breathe. Didn’t move. Didn’t blink.

For what felt like years, he remained there, his stare on me unwavering and unreadable.

Yet my cheeks heated, turning red, and I let out a yelp.

"Help m.." something constricted my throat, holding my words back.

Then again, what words could I say?

What should I tell the male that got stabbed because of me? The male I hadn’t seen for the past three days?

My arms burned, and my palms turned slick; I was sliding off the rope.

My gaze darted to the balcony, and the platform was more than a few feet apart.

Geez! I didn’t

  • The Alpha King's Plaything    Spider Woman

Malakai’s POV[Night – His Chamber]It would take a while for anyone to figure it out.But I wasn’t referring to my lies.No one would figure out that I was well. Hale. Hearty. How would they?Aside from their brains being rotted with money, who were they to question me? Or the authenticity of the order I gave Nirvana? For as long as I wished, the notion that the Alpha King was poisoned by a blade and currently bedridden would linger. It would haunt every soul. Scramble each mind. But most importantly, it would worry and unsettle Angelique. So why was it taking so long for her to figure a way out and come see me?Sure, I made it clear I would yank Nirvana’s pipes from her throat if she allowed anyone in. But still, I expected Angelique to push through, come see me, and then we’d listen to Nirvana’s agony. With each passing day, it seemed I would never hear that melody. Or see Angelique."Her discrimination is only for you" A mutter slid from my lips as my paintbrush slid across the ca

  • The Alpha King's Plaything    With A Bang

Angelique’s POV[Three Days Later – Evening | A Hallway]So many things shouldn’t have happened.Father’s death.Mother selling me to a short pervert. Beatrix, my sister's her absence on that day.And what topped the list of things that should have never happened? My one-night stand with Malakai Phantom. But life happened, and I was no liar. I enjoyed my life, to some point. I had three beautiful, gorgeous, charming pups. Had a brown-eyed friend named Mikael, and I was happy.Until Malakai resurfaced into my life. Now, I was floating in a sea clueless, confused, concerned.“You’re stressing yourself again, Mikael,” I said strictly, my tone laced with worry.Currently, one side of Mikael’s body sagged against my arm. For the first time in days, he wasn’t cold. I appreciated his warmth, but his trembles cos of forced movement? No. I despised it and the fact that he still didn’t listen to me.“The healers said you should be resting,” I muttered, tightening my grip around his waist. We

  • The Alpha King's Plaything    Warmer

Malakai’s POV:I loved the sound of cries. Especially the agonized, pained, and dying ones.I had heard so many of their symphonies and believed I would never hate them. Well, I still don’t.But hearing the cries of Angelique? Mixed with pain, alarm, and worry?Oh. What a fucking melody.I would forever enjoy the melody of her cries in silence. Then again, noise disrupted it.Too much shitty noise.“His Majesty!”I almost scrunched my nose at the horrid, horrid sound of Nirvana screaming.Feet pounded against the marble, followed by mutters of panic.I didn’t need it. I didn’t want it.The marble was cold, and as I lay there in my blood, it should have been chilly. Yet my sweetheart’s arms were warm - so, so warm.I even faked losing consciousness to remain there. And still, these idiots came to ruin it.“His Majesty is losing so much blood!”“Goddess! This is bad! Bad.”Their cries grew louder, more infuriating, and I squeezed my eyes tighter.Shit.At this rate, annoyance might brin

  • The Alpha King's Plaything    A Familiar Face 2

Malakai's POV:How interesting. For the first time in decades, I didn't seek entertainment. It came to me, and it felt nice.To seat in my chair, and get entertained was thrilling. Perhaps Beta Nirvana wasn't as useless as she seemed.I mean, she did allow a bunch of hooligans to crash the banquet. But hey, they brought a present. They brought the gift of..red.Yes, red. The color was spilled gracefully on the dull, dull guests. They were scattered around, blessed with the stain in many parts of their bodies. So generous were the invaders that they even stained the guards.Watching the them, the guards and the unwanted guests run around with red was sweet."I wonder how well it'd suite my sweetheart" My whisper was heard by me and me alone through the bustle.Causally, my gaze drifted past the running, hollering fools. I didn't spot Angelique anywhere.Rude of her to leave; I wanted to see her stained in red.I wanted it so bad and began moving.Ah wait. I paused as my attention fell

  • The Alpha King's Plaything    A Familiar Face

Angelique's POV:[Late Afternoon= Mikael's Chamber]I hated myself.I despised myself for so many reasons. One for the fact that I, Angelique Manchester, was willing to stay quiet and allow Mikael die instead of speak.I deeply resented the fact a part of me didn't care about anything else but my pups. The same pups Mikael was trying to save, and along that line, he got injured. Badly. As I sat on a stool, his chamber smelled of crushed herbs, my guilt and..blood.Nothing else churned my stomach like this metallic scent. Nothing else stung my eyes like this sight. The sight of him lying on the bed, motionless.I'd forever adore how Mikael's brown eyes gleamed. But now only his body gleamed.Last night, the many many healers of the Phantom Pack, and its Palace attended to him.I watched as they removed broken pieces of metals from his abdomen, shoulders and even his nape. Yes, his fucking nape!Whatsoever weapon they used to fight him got struck at the back of his night.Mikael almost
