Elena’s POV

“No! Stop this! Please!” I tried, but it was useless.

Without hesitation, the guards grabbed me by the arms and tossed me out of the packhouse like yesterday’s trash, and I hit the ground hard.

The agony of my severed mate bond, combined with the unbearable torment of my worsening heat, drowned out everything else.

“We… Can’t stay here…” my wolf warned me, struggling to speak through the pain and dizziness. “If we stay… A male could find us.”

I immediately understood what she meant. The scent of a she-wolf in heat was irresistible to most unmated males. Goddess knows what would happen if one stumbled upon me drenched and needy on the ground.

Despite the crushing pain, I pushed myself to my feet and ran into the forest. I had to find a place to hide before I attracted unwanted attention.

In my frantic run, I caught the sound of nearby laughter. The strong smell of alcohol drifting through the air had been masked by the scent of champagne soaking my dress.

It seemed I had run straight into a group of rogues having a party.

Shit! I need to get out of here, I thought to myself. But before I could scramble up to my feet, half a dozen pairs of glowing eyes locked on me.

“My, my... what do we have here?” One of the rogues stepped forward.

“A lass!” another one chanted excitedly.

I tried to back away, but it was useless. In the blink of an eye, they were cornering me. There was nowhere to run to.

“What is this sweet smell?” one of the rogues wondered around me, his nostrils flaring as he scented the air.

“It’s coming from her,” another one pointed out, his tone puzzled before realization burned in his eyes. He knew.

They all knew.

Their expressions shifted from confusion to thrill as they inched closer. Lust glowed in their eyes. I didn't need to be a mind reader to see what had just crossed their minds.

“Stay back!” I warned them, trying my best to sound imposing. “I... I work for Alpha Ryan Walter. I will complain directly to him about this. You're trespassing on his territory,” I threatened, hoping it would be enough to scare them off.

I realized I had failed when the one who looked like their leader let out an amused huff. “What do you say, brothers? Should we let her go… or have some fun with her?”

No answer came, but one wasn’t needed. They had made up their minds long before I said anything. It was obvious they had no intention of letting me leave. But what were wolves if they didn't play with their food?

This was my only chance to flee.

While they were distracted laughing as they fantasized about what they would do to me, I drove my knee into the crotch of the closest rogue. He squealed, clutching his balls as he fell to the ground. I didn’t waste the opportunity. I bolted away without a second thought.

“Catch her!” the leader yelled.

As tightly as I’d held onto hope I could outrun them, that soon proved to be untrue. In a matter of seconds, one of them was on me, wrapping his fist around my wrist.

“Ah!” I screamed in pain.

I tried to push through it, to crawl away from him. It was useless. The rest of his friends soon swarmed me, pinning me down and leaving me completely helpless.

Why was this happening? Was the Moon Goddess trying to show me that everyone had been right all along? That I was nothing but a mistake?

Just when I thought this suffering might end me tonight, a savage roar cut through the night, making the ground shake. The atmosphere changed, becoming charged with a power so dire it forced everyone to their knees. Then a giant shadow descended over us.

From behind the trees jumped a monstrously large wolf with midnight-dark fur and vivid scarlet eyes. His aura was more powerful than any Alpha I’d ever met, but instead of terrifying me, his presence brought a shocking wave of comfort. When his gaze fell on me, a violent, undeniable pull snapped between us.

“Mate…” my wolf murmured faintly.

My breath hitched. A second chance mate. It wasn't a myth.

Reluctantly, the beast tore his gaze away from me and bared his fangs at the rogues. Terrified, they scrambled away from me. With purposeful steps, the giant wolf marched to stand between us. Then he shifted.

As the shift ended, a dangerously handsome man stood where the beast had been. Moonlight caught the hard lines of his jaw and bare chest, accentuating his muscles. While I watched him in awe, he glared at the rogues like they were nothing but insects.

“Party’s over,” his voice was low, husky, but it carried a lethal edge. “Get the hell out of my sight before I rip you apart.”

The rogues didn't need to be told twice. They turned and ran with their tails tucked between their legs. Once they were gone, the man turned around and moved toward me so fast I would have missed it if I’d blinked. He knelt down, his eyes inspecting my injured knee before his soothing gaze returned to mine.

“Can you walk, little wolf?” he asked tenderly.

Before I could answer, he scooped me up into his muscular arms. The moment he touched me, a jolt of liquid fire shot straight to my core. I gasped, my skin burning where he held me. Unaware of the effect he had on me, he carried me a few yards to the riverbank, gently lowering me onto the soft grass.

As he leaned over me to clean my leg, his cedarwood and pine scent filled my nose at once. That was the last drop that sent me over the edge, completely breaking whatever sanity I had left. My heat took total control.

I grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer. The stranger stiffened immediately. His jaw clenched as he stared down at me, his eyes flicking back to that dangerous scarlet shade.

"Stop," he warned, but there was no anger in his voice. Only restraint. "You're in heat. You’ll regret this tomorrow."

Maybe he was right. Maybe this would be a mistake. But as my most primal instincts took over, all I cared about was satisfying my heat. I wrapped my legs tightly around his waist and pulled him closer again. This time, he didn’t fight back.

"I won’t," I gasped, my lips brushing his, trembling. "Please… take me. Make it stop…"

His breath hitched. Those eyes darkened, and then he crushed his lips to mine.

  • The Alpha King’s Unwanted Omega   Chapter 17

Elena’s POV“You’re going to love our pack!” Judy said excitedly as she led me into the Alpha King’s huge guest house. Her excitement was contagious. I appreciated her energy, especially because I was still a little unsure about being back here. Just yesterday I had left this place feeling humiliated.“I’ve never been to other packs,” I mused, trying to focus on our conversation rather than my nervousness. “Is the Phantom Pack a lot different from Shadowfang?”“Very much! For starters, our territory is a lot bigger. At least three times the size of Shadowfang!”My eyes widened. “Really?”Judy nodded. “We also have this super tall waterfall with crystal clear water. I spend a lot of time there.”“It sounds breathtaking,” I confessed, trying to picture it in my head.“Wait until you see it with your own eyes.” She smiled and winked at me. “You’ll be there soon. We’re all leaving together right after my sister’s wedding.”Her observation startled me. Judy didn’t even notice it, going on

Adrian’s POVI froze as I heard the words that had just slipped out of my mouth.Where had that come from? Had I accidentally let my wolf take over for a moment? No. He was extremely protective over her because of the damn mate bond, but this had come from me.As one of the most powerful leaders in the werewolf world, I was rarely afraid. But this innate, uncontrollable desire growing inside of me for this fragile Omega…It terrified me.My eyes slowly flicked to Elena to find her utterly shocked. Her cheeks were red and her eyes wide as she stood as still as a deer in the headlights. Ryan and Fiona were also stunned and in disbelief.“What are you talking about, Dad?” Fiona finally broke the silence, and I could feel a rogue drop of cold sweat drip down my forehead.Shit, what had I gotten myself into? While my mind scrambled for an answer, Judy stepped forward and declared, “Starting today, Elena will be working for our father as his personal assistant.”She had just saved me withou

Elena’s POVI felt Ryan stiffen against me as he heard his fiancee’ voice. For a moment, a pinch of satisfaction settled inside of me. There was no way he could get out of this situation. Not when she had just caught him red-handed trying to forcefully mark me. Ryan’s true nature was about to be exposed, and Fiona would finally see him for who he really was.Or so I had thought.Until he shoved me down, pretending that was why he had been so close to me all along.A gasp broke from me as I hit the ground hard, my knees and elbows scraping against the rough concrete surface. My wolf growled viciously inside my head. She was done being pushed around by our ex-mate. But before either of us could do anything, his irritating voice cut through the tense silence.“My love, I decided to go ahead to get us a private booth,” he began, rushing back to Fiona’s side. “That’s when I ended up bumping into this delusional Omega again.”Fiona eyed him with suspicion, but still listened as he continued

Elena’s POVThankfully, my mother was already asleep when I got home. I rushed into my room and started crying. The hurtful words the Alpha King had spat at me kept ringing in my head until the next morning.Had I known Judy was Adrian’s daughter, I never would have agreed to join them for dinner. Hell, I never would have started working at Phantom Den if I’d known he was the owner. He had made it clear that he didn’t want me in his life, and it wasn’t my intention to accidentally cross his boundaries.Of course, he would think I was just some poor, opportunist Omega.“He’s our mate, Elena. I’m sure this is just some misunderstanding,” my wolf whimpered.“You told me the same thing about Ryan, and look what that got us!” I snapped back at her.She lowered her ears. “I’m sorry.”As she retreated to the back of my mind, I felt guilty for blaming her. This wasn’t her fault. She just wanted her fated mate, and while I agreed it would be amazing to have someone who would love and cherish u

Adrian’s POVSurprise washed over me as I heard my daughter introduce the girl I’d had a one-night stand with as her friend. But underneath it, something else started to surface.Suspicion.“Is this… the old friend from Shadowfang you mentioned?” I asked Judy, my eyes never leaving Elena.“Yes!” my daughter replied excitedly.I couldn’t keep my eyes from narrowing as I quickly puzzled the pieces together.Disgust was the first thing I felt as I sized up the she-wolf in front of me. It seemed every female who came into my life wanted something from me, and Elena was no different. She must have planned to use my daughter to get closer to me.She was even greedier than I’d expected.I almost believed she was just an innocent girl when she refused my financial compensation. Now it was obvious she must have only done that because she thought she could take even more from me. I’d been kind to have her mother released from the dungeons, and that wasn’t enough for her.“You can’t judge mate w

  • The Alpha King’s Unwanted Omega   Chapter 12

Elena’s POVFor the first time in a while, I managed to have a good night of sleep where Ryan didn’t appear to haunt my dreams.I was grateful for Judy’s presence. She spent the night at our home and stayed with us through the next day. When the time came for me to leave for my second night of work, Judy offered to come with me. She drove us back to the Phantom Den and insisted on keeping me company while I served tables. “I’ll go fetch us a private booth,” she told me while I finished cleaning my last table. “Wait for me here.”“Sounds good,” I replied with a smile. As she vanished, my focus returned to my task, but before I could be done with it, my wolf perked her ears attentively, startling me. As a bad feeling sank in, I instinctively started looking around. That was when I saw him walking straight toward me, and my stomach turned.Ryan.“You really are here,” he sneered, his tone coated with rage and disgust.Panic spiked, but I masked it behind an angry expression. “What are y
