The ceremony lasted hours after our dance, the amount of people I had to stop and talk to blew my mind. I did worry at first if I would be able to talk to anyone, but after the initial people, I managed to pull through. I somehow slipped away in the middle, I was more than appreciative of all the compliments I received and the many kind words, but I needed a little break. I walk out into the fresh night air, this ceremony had lasted all day! As I put more distance between the after party and I, the sounds of chatting and the posh music drown away and I’m left with the peaceful sound of nature. I take a deep breath in, as the wind whipped through my hair a smile forming on my lips. The feeling of freedom which I always get when I’m outside, I hope it never goes away. I continue to walk deeper into the garden, I didn’t know where I was going but allowed my legs to take me. After a few moments, I snap out of my trance and take a look at my surroundings. This is when I learn where my l
I continue to cry for what feels like hours, I didn’t know why the feeling of Axel not trusting me was cutting me up as much as it was. I have put all my trust into him, I mean he whisked me away from the life I was living in the attic and took me here. I didn’t have any other choice but to trust him, so far he hasn’t done a thing to betray that trust. But if he doesn’t trust me, what could all that mean for us? I make my way to the bathroom to wash my face, with all the crying that I had done, I just know all my makeup has been cried away. Once I look in the mirror, I see my suspicions were true with my makeup smudged around my face. I turn the sink on and begin to rinse the makeup away, closing my eyes to wash my eye makeup. Once I open them up again to see what else I needed to wash off, a man who I had never met before stood behind me. A scream escapes my lips as I jump back from shock and fear, he stood by the bathroom door with his arms crossed over his chest, a frightening sm
I awake to shouts coming from somewhere in the room, I open up my eyes looking around the different bedroom Axel and I slept in last night. As I turn over to the opposite side of the bed, I find Axel not there but realise the shouts were from him. I sit up straight rubbing my eyes, my attention turning to the other door which is what I’m guessing to be the bathroom, where Axel was. “I warned you last night Joey, if I did not have the answers to why that man was in my room attacking my mate, I would go down to the dungeons and find out myself. Your half-arsed excuses to why you do not have those answers is only causing my anger to grow.” Axel shouts down the phone to who I know is Joey, I pull the blankets from my legs and jump down to the floor. “Your continued reminders of you being my Beta is no justification for you taking this long, I am giving you half an hour more before I come down there!” Axel shouts once again as I reach the door, I see him facing the mirror but soon throws
Around an hour had passed since Axel and I spoke in the bathroom, I had jumped in the shower and even tried to put the tiniest bit of makeup to hide my bruise. Realising I had no idea what was doing, I rub all of the makeup from my face and decide to just leave it. Once I leave the bathroom, Axel was stood in the middle of room reading some kind of folder. He soon realises I was there and closes it, this only making me wonder what the heck could be written in that thing. “I am glad to see that you are ready for the day, the cars and guards are waiting for us to leave as soon as we can.” He smiles placing down the folder on the counter, where my eyes follow its every move. “That folder contains information regarding the man which attacked you last night, yes I will allow you to see but that will have to wait until after the village. One thing at a time.” He smiles walking over and blocking my view of the folder, yes I wanted to see what was inside in hopes that would bring us closer
The car ride to the village was silent, my mind was swirling with all the worried thoughts of Joey being involved. But the more I would think about, the more little things were slowly starting to make sense but also showing many plot holes with my theories. For instance, Joey has been the first to arrive whenever anything happens. When Elliot fell off the roof, he was the first person to run out onto the balcony and pull Hannah and I inside. But on the flip side, how would he have managed to get down from the roof and into my bedroom in that short amount of time? I know werewolves can move much quicker than humans, but I just know he would have been stopped by somebody. At least to tell him what had happened. The thing which keeps popping into my mind is this book, Hannah was the first to bring up that Joey had been looking for this certain book in the library which he couldn’t find. I’ve been spending hours searching the same library for The Dark Secrets Of The Realms, which I can’
We spend a few more hours at the village, at first I was a little apprehensive to talk to anyone, but they all seemed really nice. Most kept repeating how they had no idea I was in that house, but always made sure to tell me how strong they thought I was for surviving it all. I also learnt how people were working to track down my mother and Patrick, they told me nobody should get away with what they did to me. Apparently, they have tracked them down a few hours away from here, as soon as they catch them they’ll let me know. I didn’t know what to say about that, I mean yes I want Patrick to have some punishment for the way in which I was treated. But to be hunted down, I’m unsure if they should have to live in fear like I did. I know he was the one which caused me to have that fear, but I wouldn’t wish that feeling on my worst enemy. It was starting to get dark, I had enjoyed myself but I was getting very tired as time ticked by. I was stood beside Axel, he and the mayor were discuss
We soon arrive back to the castle, by the end of the ride I was comfortable being with Axel while he was in wolf form. We enter the castle through the back, but as soon as we walk in, the atmosphere was different. I begin to look around to see if I could catch any signs of what may be happening, but all the butlers and maids were busily getting on with their work. “Something seems off.” I say out loud looking around the building, I don’t know how I was getting these feelings from this place, but something was telling me while we were at the village, something bad had happened. Joey soon rounds the corner, he face holding shock and worry as he clocks us. It was as like he had seen a ghost, his face draining of all colour. I swing my legs over and jump from Axel’s back, the way in which Joey looked only reminded me of the thoughts of suspicion surrounding his involvement with Elliot dying. Axel nudges me before walking around the corner, I think this meant he was shifting back into hu
We were soon leaving the castle and entering the garden, Colby said the best and easiest way to get to the waterfall was through the back. I didn’t really have any idea where we were going, but I trusted Colby would get us there in one piece. I did wonder if I should have left a note for Axel, that way I could explain where I was so he wouldn’t worry. But I didn’t have the time, Colby was worried the storm may be coming quicker than we all think so time really was of the essence. Once we had made it out of the border of the castle, which surprisingly, the guards allowed us through without asking any proper questions. The trek was going to be harder than what I had first anticipated, the little walk slowly slipped into a hike up a huge hill. Colby had to hold my hand as I navigated around huge cliff rocks, I had to keep reminding myself that it was all for the greater good. “Thank you again for helping me Colby, I know you probably don’t want to be climbing this thing.” I say out of
