Chapter 11

CHARLES 

Looking at her face, I could not help but feel joy as she looked so invested in my words. She looked like she was going to fight my battle and comfort me at the same time.

She was so sorry for me and what I am going through, forgetting she has faced the same amount of troubles or even worse.

“My father never cared. He loves his wife, and what his wife wants is what he wants as well!” I told her, and she frowned.

I could tell if she saw my stepmother and my father right now, she wouldn't hesitate to beat the crap out of them.

“So what happened?” She asked, and I sighed.

“I was a very skilled swordsman, the best of the Archer and the Mortal Kombat lord, so I was always at war when my father wasn't there,” I said, and she smiled.

I was quite a man before my father even realized it. He never showed me love, so I decided to work my ass off.

“Probably, my stepmother thought I was pursuing the throne, and she wanted it all for her son. I never thought of the throne because I thought my father would have a longer life.” I said and paused.

“So after a particular battle, we won, and I was praised by everyone, including my stepmother. I was surprised.” I said and smiled, remembering the smile on her face this particular day.

“I retired to bed earlier, and she came to my room to check up on me. It was a surprise, and I should have smelled the fish, but I didn't. I had high hopes for her after all.” I looked at Amy, who was paying all the attention in the world to what I was saying at the time.

“She came when I was sleeping and woke me up to look at my wounds. I was so happy to see her care for me after all. She cleaned my wound and gave me medicine, and she also gave me a nice warm tea, and I thought she finally accepted me.” I said, and Amy frowned.

“I was thinking of doing better at war just because she accepted me. But little did I know.” I stopped for a while and looked away after making this statement.

“I slept off totally, and the next thing I knew, I woke up in the clinic two days after the day she gave me a drink,” I added to my story.

“I had a head injury, spinal break, and tears on my body here and there. I slept through the collapse.” Everything was still fresh in my head as I was telling her the tales.

As I didn't want to scare her, I didn't want to hide the truth from her either. It was a taboo to lie to a lover or a partner.

Any relationship built on lies will finally crumble.

“People didn't find me on time because she told them I wasn't in the house at the moment the house fell,” I added, and she sniffed so hard.

“But one of the guards sniffed me out and helped me to the clinic!” I explained, and before I knew it, she was crying again.

“I can't believe that she was going to go that far. To date, I can't tell how the building collapsed! How I was saved, I can't tell, but I knew she had a hand in everything.” I said firmly, as everyone didn't believe me till date.

They all thought I was lying or just because I never liked my stepmother or something. Well, I liked her from the beginning, but that day was the last straw.

I hated her when I finally realized that all she meant for me was death.

“If not, she was the last person to see me, but she claimed I wasn't in the building that collapsed. Why did I sleep so much that I couldn't tell that the building was falling” I said 

“I am a warrior, I am a sensitive man, so how could I not have known!” I said, and Amy nodded.

“I believe you; she definitely knows about it, and she must have worked with some people to do you the harm.” She said and rubbed my hand.

My heart skipped a beat when she spoke. I have never needed comfort, but her words claimed my heart.

The fact that she said she believed me was something I didn't know had so much effect on my body.

It was like pouring cold water on someone's body. It was the calmest thing I have ever heard. She cares for and trusts me.

That is two things I have struggled to get from people. My men trust me and are loyal to me. Most of them don't care about me personally.

They all just want to be safe, but she cares; she listened to me while interfering in my words. She accepted them without even making any other theory.

“I am so sorry you have to go through all of this! You deserve better!” she said, and I chuckled.

“Thanks, Amy!” I said, and she smiled.

“So what about this?” She said and pointed at the biggest mark on my body. 

It was a mark that I never wanted to clean off, even if I had the chance to cleanse all my scars. That was the scar that broke me free from this family.

The last scar that made me a king!

“This is the scar that I cherish the most. It was the scar I got from proving my worth and becoming the Lycan king.” I said, and she smiled at the scar.

I can't tell if she was doing it intentionally or not, but she began to rub the scar, and it was so close to my torso.

Her touch was light but sexually magical. It was raising the demon in me, and I didn't want her to stop, nor did I want to pounce on her.

I forcibly shut my eyes and growled uncontrollably, and she flinched before looking at me.

“Does it hurt?” she asked.
