Se connecterCHAPTER 3
Raine didn’t sleep that night. She sat on the edge of the fur-lined bed, staring at the stone walls as though they might suddenly shift and reveal an exit. Every sound outside the chamber made her tense. Every distant step reminded her she was not in her world anymore. And the worst part? No one seemed to be coming for her living all by herself had made unsafe this
At dawn, the silver sky outside the narrow window slowly brightened. The light didn’t behave like sunlight in Hill Town it was softer, almost glowing, like the world itself was lit by the moon even in the morning.
Raine pressed her palm against her chest. That strange pull was still there. Faint now… but alive. She hated that she could feel it.
A knock came. She didn’t answer immediately. The door opened anyway. Klaus Romano stepped in.Raine stiffened instantly. “You don’t knock?” she snapped.
Klaus looked at her briefly. “You are not imprisoned.”
Raine gave a dry laugh. “That’s funny, because I didn’t choose to be here.”
Klaus didn’t react. He simply stepped inside, his presence instantly filling the room like a silent storm.
Behind him stood Zane again, leaning slightly against the doorway like he expected chaos at any moment.
Klaus’s eyes stayed on Raine.“You didn’t sleep.”
Raine crossed her arms. “Why would I?”
Klaus studied her for a moment, then said, “You are adjusting.”
“I’m not adjusting to anything,” she said sharply. “I was taken from my life. I want to go back.”
Klaus stepped closer.Raine instinctively stood. The air between them shifted again. That same pressure. That same invisible pull.Klaus noticed it immediately. So did she.
Raine frowned. “What is that?”
Klaus’s eyes narrowed slightly. “The bond responds to proximity.”
Raine shook her head. “Stop saying that word like it explains anything.”
Zane cleared his throat awkwardly from the doorway. “It kinda does.”
Raine shot him a glare. “No it doesn’t.”
Klaus turned slightly toward Zane. “Leave.”
Zane blinked. “Again?”
Klaus didn’t repeat himself.Zane sighed and walked out, closing the door behind him.Now it was just the two of them again.Raine felt it immediately. The silence became heavier.More personal.
Klaus walked a few steps closer, slower this time.“You feel it,” he said.
Raine frowned. “Feel what?”
He stopped in front of her.“The bond.”
Raine shook her head quickly. “I feel confused, okay? That’s what I feel.”
Klaus didn’t look away. “You are my mate,” he repeated.
Raine exhaled sharply. “You keep saying that like it’s supposed to mean something to me.”
“It will,” he said calmly.
Raine looked up at him fully now.Frustration flickered in her eyes.“Listen to me,” she said firmly. “I don’t belong here. I don’t belong to you. And I don’t care what kind of… fantasy world you live in, but I am not your anything.”
Something flickered in Klaus’s expression. Not anger.Something more controlled. Contained. “I did not bring you here to own you,” he said quietly.
Raine blinked.“Then why did you bring me here?”
Klaus hesitated for a moment then said “Because you were going to die.”
Raine stared at him. “Die?”
Klaus nodded slightly.“There are forces in your world that would have killed you before the week ended.”
Raine shook her head. “That’s not true. I don’t have enemies.”
Klaus stepped closer again. This time, she didn’t move back immediately. His voice lowered slightly. “You do. You just don’t remember them yet, or what happened.”
A chill ran through her. “What does that even mean?”
Klaus didn’t answer directly. Instead, he raised his hand slowly. Raine flinched instinctively but he didn’t touch her. He stopped just short of her wrist. Then, carefully, he placed two fingers near her pulse.
Raine froze. Her heartbeat was so loud in her ears. And then, It happened again. That pull Stronger this time Like something inside her chest responded to him.Her breath caught sharply.
Klaus’s eyes darkened slightly. “There,” he said softly.
Raine pulled her hand away quickly. “Stop doing that.”
Klaus didn’t argue. But his gaze stayed on her. Longer than it should have. Like he was memorizing something.
The pack was already active. Wolves moved through the mist-covered territory, training, hunting, and preparing for the day. The air carried the scent of pine, frost, and something ancient.
Klaus stood on the elevated stone platform overlooking everything.
Zane joined him again. “She’s still resisting,” Zane said.
Klaus didn’t respond immediately before speaking slowly and calmly “I expected that.”
Zane leaned slightly before replying. “She’s human, Klaus. Not just in body but also in mind. You can’t treat her like a pack member.”
Klaus’s jaw tightened slightly. “I am not treating her like a pack member.”
Zane studied him carefully. “But you’re also not letting her go.”
Both of them were silent for a while their breathing matched together Klaus finally spoke. “She is not ready.”
Zane sighed. “Or you’re not ready to lose her.” That landed differently. Klaus turned slightly.
Zane raised his hands slightly. “I’m just saying what everyone else is thinking.”
Klaus’s gaze shifted toward the forest as he watched everyone around A place where fate had first spoken to him, his home. “I will not lose her,” he said quietly.
Zane frowned. “Even if she chooses someone else?”
Klaus’s eyes sharpened slightly. “She won’t.”
Zane exhaled. “That’s not how humans work.”
Klaus didn’t respond.Because deep down, he already knew Raine Sinclair was not just human anymore Not fully.
Raine paced the room she had been given she hated the room, she hated the silence, she hated the way her body still reacted when Klaus was near. That pull, it was weird, It wasn’t normal it made her angry, Made her confused, Made her feel like something inside her was reacting without permission.
She stopped suddenly. “No,” she muttered to herself. “This is not real.” She pressed her fingers to her temple. “Werewolves don’t exist. Bonds don’t exist. This is just trauma or… hallucination or my imagination playing tricks on me”
The door opened again.Raine spun around instantly.Klaus entered. She groaned. “Can you stop doing that?”
Klaus looked at her. “Doing what?”
“Appearing like a shadow every time I think I’m alone and entering without as much as a knock on the door.”
He didn’t respond to the sarcasm. Instead, he stepped in fully. “I am taking you somewhere.”
Raine narrowed her eyes. “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
Klaus paused slightly then said in a commanding Alpha tone “It is necessary.”
Raine crossed her arms. “For what?”
Klaus held her gaze. “To show you what you are.”
Raine laughed once. “I already know what I am. Human.”
Klaus stepped closer. “Not entirely, I don't think you really know who you’re.”
That made her stop.Silence stretched between them.Raine studied him carefully.“What are you hiding from me?” she asked quietly.
Klaus answered her slowly as if counting his words “Nothing you are ready to understand.”
Raine exhaled sharply. “That’s not an answer.”
“It is the only one you will get.”he replied. Then added “If you remain here too long without understanding the bond, it will affect you.”
Raine frowned. “Affect me how? Every time we are together you make me more confused.”
Klaus’s gaze softened slightly but only for a moment before speaking up “Emotionally,” he said.
Raine swallowed.That didn’t sound like a threat.It sounded more like a warning.
They walked through Ice Moon Pack territory.Raine stayed slightly behind Klaus hand folded on her chest as she walked at first, she was watching everything carefully.
Wolves passed them, bowing their heads slightly as they saw Klaus.
Raine noticed.“You’re like a king here or someone important here?,” she muttered.
Klaus didn’t look back. “I am not king.”
“But everyone treats you like one.”
Without looking at her he responded “They respect strength,” he said.
Raine scoffed. “Sounds and appear more like fear.”
Klaus stopped walking.Raine almost bumped into him. He turned slightly. “It is not fear so you know ,” he said. “It is survival.”
Raine studied him.For the first time, she noticed something beneath the power.Responsibility and it looked so Heavy, Constant.
She looked away. Then speaking up, “I still want to go home,” she said quietly.
Klaus didn’t respond immediately. “You do not have one anymore.”
Raine froze.“What do you mean?”
Klaus looked forward again.“Like I said before, where you call your home is not safe anymore.”
Something in his tone made her stomach tighten. Before she could ask more, a loud howl echoed in the distance.
Raine flinched.Klaus immediately stepped closer to her.Protective.Instant.Raine noticed. So did something inside her, That pull surged again. Stronger this time. She stumbled slightly. Klaus caught her wrist instantly. The moment he touched her The bond reacted violently. Raine gasped. Klaus froze completely. Their eyes locked. And for the first time since they met neither of them moved away.
CHAPTER 4 The moment Klaus touched Raine’s wrist, the world shifted. It wasn’t subtle this time. It was violent. A surge of energy cracked through the space between them silent, invisible, but powerful enough that Raine felt it in her bones. Her breath caught sharply as her body reacted before her mind could understand what was happening.Klaus froze completely. For the first time since she met him, he looked unsettled. Not weak. He never looked weak but this time affected.Raine pulled her hand back quickly, like she had been burned. “What… was that?” she whispered.Klaus didn’t answer immediately. His gaze stayed fixed on her wrist, where his fingers had just been. “The bond,” he said finally.Raine stepped back. “Stop saying that like it’s supposed to make sense, since I arrived you have told me about this bond over a million times .”Klaus’s eyes lifted slowly to hers. “It does not need to make sense, unless you will to understand” he replied. “It exists.”Raine shook her head. “

CHAPTER 2Raine woke up to silence, not the kind she knew. Not the quiet of Hill Town where distant cars hummed through the night. This silence was heavier.Alive.She tried to move but pain shot through her body, and she gasped softly. Her eyes fluttered open. Above her was not a cracked ceiling or dim warehouse light. It was a sky. Bright. Endless. Silver-tinted.And moving.Clouds drifted too slowly, like time itself had been stretched thin. Raine sat up sharply. Her breath caught. She wasn’t in her apartment. She wasn’t in Hill Town. She wasn’t even in the world she knew. She was lying on soft fur-lined bedding inside a large stone chamber. The walls were carved from ancient rock, glowing faintly with symbols she didn’t understand. The air was colder, fresher like standing deep inside a mountain forest.Raine pulled herself back instantly. “What… is this place?” she whispered. The door creaked open. She flinched.A woman stepped in dressed in simple dark clothing, her posture respectful
The streets of Hill Town were quieter than usual that night. Raine Sinclair pulled her jacket tighter around her body as she stepped out of the small office building where she worked. The summer air was warm, but a strange chill followed her every step, like something unseen had decided to walk beside her.She exhaled slowly.Another late shift. Another exhausting day. All she wanted was her small apartment, a warm shower, and silence.Raine wasn’t special, not in the way people usually meant it. She had no idea she was being watched. No idea that her entire life was built on a lie older than she was.As she crossed the empty parking lot, she paused.Something felt wrong. Too quiet. Even the distant sound of cars seemed muted, like the world was holding its breath.Raine looked over her shoulder.Nothing. Still, the feeling didn’t leave. She quickened her steps. Behind her, in the shadow of a parked van, a man lowered his phone.“She’s moving,” he said quietly. “Confirm the location.”A
