CHAPTER 5 Blood on the Border of Fate

The moment the shadow burst through the trees, everything stopped feeling like training, it became real.

Raine’s breath caught in her throat as chaos erupted across the Ice Moon Pack training grounds. Warriors shifted instantly, bones cracking, bodies expanding, fur breaking through skin as wolves emerged in their full, terrifying forms.

She stumbled backward. “What is that?!” she shouted, panic tightening her voice.

Klaus didn’t answer immediately.His entire body had already shifted subtle, controlled, lethal. His stance alone changed the air around them.

Danger became focused. “I told you not to move,” he said, voice low.

Raine glared at him despite her fear. “That’s not helpful right now!” She shouted

Zane appeared beside Klaus instantly, already half-shifted. “It’s not one,” Zane said sharply. “It’s a breach group.”

Klaus’s eyes darkened.“How many of them?”

Zane scanned the forest. “At least twenty. Maybe more.”

Raine’s stomach dropped. “Twenty what?”

Klaus turned slightly toward her. “Enemies,” he said simply.

That didn’t help her panic. Before she could respond, another figure exploded from the forest moving too fast for human sight. A warrior was thrown across the field, crashing into stone with a sickening force.

Raine screamed.Her body moved on instinctshe backed away but the moment she did, something inside her chest pulsed again. That same strange pull. Stronger now. Almost… answering the violence around her.

She froze. “What is wrong with me?” she whispered.

Klaus heard her.But he didn’t answer. Because he couldn’t take his attention off the battlefield.

The enemy came in full force.Dark figures poured from the trees armed men, but not just humans. Some moved with unnatural speed. Others had eyes glowing faintly red under the moonlight.

Raine backed up until she hit a stone pillar. “No, no, no…” she muttered.

This wasn’t a kidnapping anymore, this was war between strange creatures she only read about in books and she still didn’t understand her body.

Zane shifted fully now, a massive wolf snapping forward to intercept an attacker mid-air.Blood hit the ground.Raine flinched violently.“This is insane…I need to go back to my home” she whispered.

Klaus stepped forward.And everything around him reacted. The air tightened.The wolves around him became still for half a second as if waiting for command. Then he moved. Fast.A blur. One enemy was taken down instantly.Another followed and just like that he kept on taking them down.

Raine couldn’t even track him properly. One moment he was beside her The next, he was across the field tearing through attackers like they were nothing.She pressed her hand to her mouth. “He’s… not human,” she whispered.

“He never was,” a voice said behind her.

Raine spun around. A warrior stood there, injured, breathing heavily.

“Stay behind the Alpha,” he said, panting.

Raine frowned. “I didn’t choose to be behind anyone and how can I stay behind a blur.”

The warrior didn’t respond. He just shifted and ran back into battle.Raine turned back toward Klaus.And that’s when she saw it. He was different now.Not just fighting. Leading.

Every movement controlled the battlefield like a conductor directing chaos. Wolves moved when he moved. Enemies fell where he looked.He wasn’t just strong. He was absolute.

Raine’s breath slowed slightly.Despite everything Something about him didn’t feel like terror. It felt like protection.And that confused her more than the attack or enemies.

The strange pull inside Raine’s chest grew stronger each time Klaus moved each time he fought, each time he got closer to danger. It reacted.Like it was responding to him.

She pressed her palm to her chest. “What is this feeling?” she whispered.A sudden roar behind her made her spin and an attacker broke through the defensive line heading straight toward her.

Raine froze.Time slowed. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t think. Just fear. The attacker raised a weapon. And before she could even scream, a blur of movement slammed into him.

Klaus.He struck the attacker down instantly.The man hit the ground hard.Silence.Raine stared up at him.Klaus stood between her and the battlefield now.Completely shielding her.

His breathing was steady.Controlled.But his eyes were different. Sharper. Golden. Almost glowing. Raine swallowed hard.“You… you didn’t have to do that,” she said quietly.

Klaus didn’t look away from the battlefield.“Yes,” he said simply. “I did what I had to do.”

Raine frowned. “Why?”

That’s when he turned slightly toward her. And for the first time he spoke calmly. “Because you are not trained to survive this world.”

Raine’s chest tightened again. “I didn’t ask to be in it. I never wanted to be here. I told you to take me back.”

Klaus stepped slightly closer.“No,” he agreed. “You were dragged into it by fate, not me.”

Raine shook her head. “I don’t believe in fate.”

Klaus held her gaze. “You do now.”

Zane appeared beside them again, breathing heavily.

“Klaus,” he said urgently. “They’re targeting the center.”

Klaus’s expression sharpened instantly the pack heart the Alpha chamber.

Raine noticed the shift immediately. “What’s happening?” she asked.

Klaus looked at her. And for a brief second Something unreadable crossed his face.Then he said“Stay here dont move i will come back for you.”

Raine frowned. “No.” She said boldly and calmly

Both Klaus and Zane looked at her.

Raine crossed her arms. “I’m not staying anywhere alone while you all fight monsters.”

Zane sighed. “They’re not monsters. They’re worse.”

Raine shot him a look. “That’s not comforting.”

Klaus stepped closer again, his voice lowered. “You will be safer here and I will come back here few warriors will be with you”

Raine shook her head. “That’s what people always say before something bad happens.”

Klaus studied her carefully. “You want to come, then come with us.”

Raine blinked. “What?”

Zane stared at him. “You can’t bring her into a breach zone Klaus.”

Klaus didn’t look away from Raine. “She is not staying unprotected.”

Raine hesitated. “You’re actually letting me go with you?”

Klaus nodded once. “Stay close to me.”

Raine didn’t like how quickly she agreed. But she followed anyway

They moved through the battlefield together. Raine stayed close behind Klaus, heart pounding, running as chaos surrounded them. Everywhere she looked movement, blood, power she didn’t understand.

But Klaus never let her drift too far. Every time danger came near He was there.Always. Blocking. Striking. Protecting. At one point, Raine tripped over uneven ground. Before she even hit the floor Klaus caught her wrist instantly.

That same reaction, that same pull. This time, it didn’t fade quickly. It lingered. Longer. Stronger. Raine gasped. Klaus froze again. Their eyes met. And for a moment again Everything around them disappeared.

They could feel the bond between them building as they breath in sane rhythm Klaus’s voice dropped slightly. “It is growing i can feel it,” he said.

Raine swallowed. “What is growing?”

Klaus didn’t let go of her wrist.“The connection, the bond between us you’re my Luna.”

Raine shook her head quickly. “No. I don’t want this i am not your Luna or whatsoever you call it.”

Klaus didn’t respond immediately. Then quietly “ the goddess of the moon does not care what you want.”

That made her stomach drop.Before she could respond A massive explosion of energy shook the forest.Both of them turned instantly.

Zane’s voice came through the chaos. “They’re using dark amplification!”

Klaus’s expression hardened. “Stone’s influence,” he muttered.

Raine frowned. “Stone?”

Klaus looked at her briefly. “The one who hunted you and kidnapped you.”

Raine’s blood ran cold. “He’s here, what does he want?”

Klaus shook his head slightly. “Not himHis remnants.”

Raine didn’t understand but she didn’t have time to ask.Because the battlefield shifted again.And this time that attack was aimed directly at Klaus.

A dark figure broke through the defensive line. Faster than the others.Stronger.Intentional. It moved straight for Klaus.

Raine saw it before he did.“Klaus—!” she shouted. He turned Too late.The attack collided with him violently.Raine screamed.For a second Klaus was forced back. The entire field went silent. Even the wolves paused. Raine’s chest tightened violently.

“No No, no, no….” She mumbled Something inside her snapped. A surge of energy erupted from her chest without warning. Silver light flickered faintly around her fingers.

She froze.“What… is this?oh what’s happening to me” she whispered.

Klaus lifted his head slowly.His eyes locked onto her. And widened slightly. “…Raine,” he said softly.

The attacker hesitated. The entire battlefield felt it. The shift.Raine stepped forward without thinking.The light around her hands grew stronger. “I don’t know what I’m doing,” she whispered.

Klaus’s voice was calm but intense.“You are responding.”

Raine shook her head. “I don’t know how!”

Klaus stepped forward despite the attack still around them.“Then listen to the bond allow it to lead you.”

Raine stared at him. “I don’t understand anything”

Klaus’s gaze softened slightly “You will just follow it leading.”

The attacker lunged again but this time Raine reacted before she could thinkThe energy burst outward instinctively. A shockwave of silver light threw the attacker back instantly.

Silence fell across the battlefield.Raine stood frozen.Breathing hard.“What… Did I just do that?”

Klaus stared at her.And for the first time There was something like certainty in his voice. “You awakened.”
