Chapter Seventeen

I woke early the next morning, well before the sun was up and felt restless. I sat up and stretched out my stiff muscles, standing up from my makeshift bed on my office couch. I had been working late and just decided to crash on my couch. That and I didn’t want to go back to the house and fall asleep in an empty bed that still smelt of Silas. I would have to make time later today to strip the bed and wash my sheets.

I sighed and looked out the window, seeing the sky dark still with just a hint of lightness creeping in, signalling that the sun would be rising soon. I put my shoes on and left my office and the building, making the small trek back to the house and walking back around it. I wrapped my arms around my torso to block out some of the morning chill and made the short journey to my pond, sitting down on my favourite rock c

so far it's very good. all of this understanding though from everyone in her life is almost unreal.
