Remi POV

The next morning, I woke up feeling a bit better. Although my mood hadn’t fully improved, the ache in my chest felt a little less heavy than before. I didn’t say much, but Nadia and Vivian could tell something had changed. I could feel their eyes on me. They kept stealing glances when they thought I wasn’t looking.

“How are you feeling?” Nadia asked after a long stretch of silence. She’d been staring at me the longest.

“My back still hurts,” I answered honestly, not even bothering to look up as Vivian set the tray in front of me.

“Don’t worry… if you keep up with the medication, it should be completely healed before next week,” Nadia said gently.

I still said nothing and the room went quiet again, the only sound coming from my spoon tapping lightly against the plate.

“You’ve been stuck in here too long,” Nadia said again, and I paused, finally lifting my gaze to meet hers.

“If you finish your meal… it might be good to step outside. You know… get some fresh air.”
