Chapter 14

My eyes fluttered open slowly before the ceiling came in focus.

I couldn't tell what time it was but everywhere was still very dark.

I twisted and turned and tried to get back in a comfortable position to sleep and after about ten minutes of turning aimlessly, I huffed and sat up on the bed.

I rubbed my eyes while yawning and stretching my body out.

All I did was do chores around the house and sleep and even though my current body was too weak to do otherwise, my mind couldn't comprehend it.

In the army, I was always busy.

Physically, mentally and all round but now, I just felt like a potato.

Sighing at my new reality, I tried to tame my wild hair by running my fingers through it and when I didn't succeed, I settled on tying it up and putting it in place with the scrunchie around my wrist.

I yawned again and the hunger pangs in my stomach announced themselves, reminding me I hadn't had any dinner last night.
