I stared at the hundredth flower that Daniel had given me out of all the flowers he had been giving me for the past two weeks ever since we found out we were mates.

It was weird and shocking at first. To find out that your close friend is your mate and I felt like it would be a betrayal to Killian wherever he was now, moving on from him after just a year. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to reject Daniel because it would anger the goddess and I didn't know if I would ever have feelings for him because we'd been friends for a long time until a few days ago.

I was in the kitchen alone making a late night snack after helping Maya put the babies to sleep when he came in. He was shirtless and had half sleepy eyes.
