Four | Alpha Nicholas

Nicholas

Today was the last day of Alpha training and I couldn’t have been any happier. These past 2 years have been grueling, but it was worth it. Gone was the tall and slim boy and in his place was a 6’5 wall of muscle and tattoos. A lot has happened in the 2 years since I have been here. I’ve bulked up due to the rigorous training, got some ink on my skin and a whole lot more knowledge than I had before I came here. My dad was an amazing teacher, but he only taught me so much. Training growing up was tough, but tougher on me as I was the Alpha’s son. I had to do twice as much work as the others and it helped prepare me for what was coming. I stood tall on the stage as everyone was being announced at the ending ceremony. I couldn’t wait for it to be over so I could go back and see my family.

My family. I missed them so much. My mother, the Luna of the Blue River Pack, was the most sincere and down-to-earth person you could meet, and she would do anything for anyone. My father, the Alpha of the Blue River Pack, was as strong as they came and had an amazing soul. Like my mother, my father would put his life on the line for those he cared for. Don’t get me wrong, he was nice and all, but he could be a beast when he needed to be. If you got on his bad side, you would wish you had never met him. I’d like to think I am a mix of them both. I can be polite when needed, but piss me off and it was messing with fire. Few have tried and have found out the hard way. Everyone here was here for one reason and that was to become Alpha of their pack. I made a few allies while here and a few enemies. No matter to me, I wasn’t here to play nice. I was brought from my thoughts when my friend and ally from the Crystal River Pack, Cashton, nudged my shoulder.

“Hey. They are calling you.” He said in a hushed whisper as I shook my head. I focused on the men at the front of the stage and stood.

“Alpha Nicholas, it has been a pleasure and honor to have you here with us. You have come a long way since you have started and will be an amazing ally to any pack as well as an amazing Alpha.” The head of the Alpha training, an elder named Malthe, said as he extended his hand to me.

“It’s been an honor to learn from someone with as much knowledge and power as you.” I took his hand and shook it in a firm handshake.

He nodded to me before I headed back to take my seat while the other went through the same process as me. The ceremony went on for about another hour while everyone was being thanked for coming and all that. I really wasn’t paying attention as Hawk, my wolf, was going crazy in my head.

“What is the matter with you?” I was a bit annoyed he decided to act up now and not after the ceremony.

“I have a feeling.” He said, a bit unsure himself.

“A feeling?

“Like something is going to happen.”

“Good or bad?” I asked. He always had a knack for knowing when things would happen, good or bad.

“I don’t know and that is what is bugging me.” He huffed. “We need to get back home and soon.”

“Why? Everything is fine. I spoke to Mason a few hours ago and he said everything was perfectly fine.”

“After this, we leave. We NEED to get HOME!”

“Fine.”

I groaned as I rolled my neck to get some of the tension out. He was really being a pain, even more so than he usually is.

“You’re not so fun either.” He spat before retreating to the back of my mind.

“Dude, you alright?” Cashton asked again, leaning his head back.

“Yeah.” I sighed as I ran my hand down my face. “Hawk is just freaking out.”

“When was the last time you let him out?”

“Last night before bed. He keeps saying we need to go home, almost like something is happening.”

“Have you spoken to anyone from the pack?”

“I spoke to Mason before the ceremony. He was taking Kenz to the beach.”

“Ah, good ole Mason.” He chuckled. “Wonder how hot Kenzie is now.” I looked over to see a smirk on his face. I couldn’t help the growl that escaped my lips.

“Do not speak about her that way.” I gritted out as I was now fighting with Hawk not to fight Cashton.

“Whoa brother.” He held his hands up in defense. “Didn’t realize you had the hots for her.”

“Never said I did. She’s like a little sister and no man will ever speak like that about her.”

“What about her mate?” He countered.

“Don’t start with me, Cash, or so help me, goddess.” I took a deep breath to calm myself down.

“Consider it dropped.” He mumbled as he crossed his arms and sulked like always. He was a massive player and I felt bad for whoever his mate was. He has had a crush on Kenz for about as long as I can remember, but she never saw him as more than a friend. That little tid bit pissed him off.

We focused our attention back on stage as the last person was being called up. I raised my head to the sky and thanked the goddess for it finally being over. I decided I was going to skip the after party so I could pack and head home. I hurriedly threw all my belongings in my bag and headed out to my 2022 Audi R8 Performance Quattro, throwing my bag on the passenger’s seat. I got in a sped away from the place I called home for two years.

Arriving at the pack, I stopped at the gates just long enough for the guards to see my face.

“Welcome home, Alpha.” one guard nodded as he pushed the button, allowing the big steel gates to open up. I took my time driving as I took in the scenery of my pack and reminisced at all the memories.

As I pulled up to the pack house, I noticed a lot of cars in the driveway and could hear the thumping of loud music coming from the back. I remembered it was graduation, so there must be a graduation party for Kenz and Elena. I parked my car out front and headed up the stairs to the door. I pushed them open and walked through the house. Finding it empty, I made my way to the back of the house. Once I stepped outside and took a deep breath, something caught my attention.

“She’s here!” Hawk went nuts in my head.

“Who?” I asked as I looked around.

“Mate!”

My mate was here. The question was, was she a part of my pack or another? I made my way through the crowd of people in search of that sweet smell. It led me to the side of the pack house where I could hear two people having an argument. I couldn’t make out their voices over the music, but as soon as I turned the corner, my blood boiled at what I saw.
