“Phineas, send us there now!”

Yet, Phineas stood there, petrified like his eyes stared at the smoke before him. I grabbed his shoulder and violently shook him to regain his senses. “We have no time, Phineas! Varick is—!”

“No, we can’t.”

At first, his cold voice surprised me before I glared at him. “Why not? We are the healers, aren’t we?!”

Phineas turned to glare at me. “Luna, don’t let your emotions sway your decision! You can use your canine senses, right?!”

As soon as he mentioned it, I sensed it. The scent was faint yet I could recognize it so well.

I didn’t realize the lingering smell of a mixture of decaying bodies and toxins around the area. It made my stomach churned as I knelt on the ground.

I rushed to a nearby bush and vomited. I was holding my breath for too long and when I came to my senses, the scent was so agonizing that I knelt down and threw up.
