The glass walls around her reflected the cold light in harsh angles, trapping her in a perfect box where even the shadows looked sterile. Her throat was still raw from her earlier howls, and her body was still trembling from the forced shift Elias’ machines had dragged her through.
She sat in a corner of the cage with her arms wrapped tightly around her knees, staring blankly at the floor. The silence of the lab felt too controlled and expectant, but she couldn't quite figure out why she felt that way. Every second stretched felt like an eternity, and every breath she took was filled with fear and desperation.
She hated the quiet. It left too much room for the panic to grow.
