INICIAR SESIÓNJacob POV
The two of them kept talking with Ben and Zane when he joined us, but I didn’t really pay much attention to what was being said. I vaguely hear them talking about what Kevin had done to Sara. I wasn’t sure yet what my opinion of what he had done was, but I will admit I hadn't really been paying attention to what Trish and Duke had said either. My focus was on Raven.
I don’t know if she was given the name because of her hair, but it suited her. My raven-haired, curvy beauty. She didn’t move too far from her friend’s side. She joined in on conversations when guys came over, but she didn’t seem to be fully invested. It was just as I thought, most of the guys that approached weren’t there for her. They were trying to get Sara’s attention, and the ones talking to Raven were just doing it as a distraction for their buddies. Not that Raven even tried to stop them. She most likely knows that Sara can take care of herself. You could tell by the body language that these guys were not there for Raven. There was no attraction. Yeah, a few times I did notice that they would take a quick scan to see if they missed something from afar, but other than a few looks of appreciation when they glanced at her cleavage, there was nothing more.
I also noticed that Raven didn’t really react to them either. She didn’t look hurt by their lack of desire for her. I wondered if this was because she didn’t care or if it was that she didn’t think she deserved their attention. Which I hope is not the case, because if it is, I don’t know how she could think that way. I did take note that all the guys and their buddies who approached Sara and Raven were human. Which would make sense because I am pretty sure that the unmated members of the Bos pack would know to keep their distance from Sara, out of fear of Kevin’s reaction, even if he didn’t know what he was doing.
It was when the sixth guy approached Sara that we all suddenly heard a very loud, menacing growl. It was followed by what we wolves recognized as a possessive howl that came from the trees. You can tell that most of the humans from around here are used to wolves being in the area because no one seemed to panic. Some turned and looked in the direction it came from, but that was about all. They all reacted more to the sight of Kevin, still in human form but not by much, bursting out of the tree line and heading straight for Sara.
“Oh, Shit! Duke, we have to get him under control. In this state, he might do something that he can’t take back, and I don’t mean telling her what he is. Although she will likely know by the time he’s done.” Trish said as she ran towards Sara and Raven with Duke and the rest of us right on her heels.
Just as we reached them, Kevin grabbed Sara, threw her over his shoulder and headed back into the woods. “Put me down, you jackass. You have no say in who I talk to. You gave up that right when you cheated on me.” We heard Sara yell as Kevin disappeared into the woods, her voice fading out, but she was still yelling.
Duke didn’t hesitate to follow. Trish turned towards Raven, who stood there, shocked, with a look of confusion on her face.“Don’t worry, Raven, the last thing that Kevin would do is anything that would hurt Sara. He is just having a hard time expressing himself the right way. I don’t know if Sara told you or not, but I had a long talk with her a few weeks ago about why he did what he did. It still doesn’t mean what he did was right, but he won’t physically hurt her, that I can guarantee.” Trish took a quick look over as Duke followed the other two into the woods. “Now I know you don’t know these guys, but they are going to keep you company while Duke and I make sure that Kevin doesn’t get his ass kicked. Yes, he would stand there and let Sara do it.”
The group of us standing here knew exactly what she meant. If there was a slight possibility that Sara was Kevin’s mate, he would stand there and take everything she wanted to give to him as long as she didn’t hurt herself. It is just how we are wired. So I can just imagine how hard it must have been for him to hurt Sara by making her think he had cheated on her. We had been given a basic rundown of what Kevin had thought was the right thing to do because he wasn’t sure if she could accept him. Personally, I think it sounded more like he was being a coward, but then again, I’ve never been in his place where the girl who got your attention didn’t even know that werewolves exist.
“This is Zane, Ben and…” Trish hesitated before saying my name, watching Raven’s reaction to me. “…Jacob. They will keep you company while Duke and I go save Kevin from himself. You’re in good hands with them. Right, guys.” I heard the guys answer Trish, but I wasn’t sure what they had said. I was too busy being creepy and staring at Raven.
Zane punched me in the shoulder to jar some sense into me and out of the fantasies that had started to form in my mind. Raven still had that shocked look on her face.
“How about we find a place to sit while we wait for them?” I said as I reached for her hand. The second that we touched, I felt small tingles start to spread up my arm. Nothing like what I have been told, the mate bond feels like, but different than when I have touched any other woman. She must have felt it too because she quickly turned her gaze to mine, and I watched as her pupils widened in surprise. I smiled at her, and not just because of the feeling or that I was trying to make her feel safe.
I smiled because she didn’t try to pull her hand away from mine as I led her towards a picnic table near the fire. I held her hand as she took a seat. I sat down beside her, giving in to the urging from my wolf to stay close to her. I know that I might be coming off as one of those creeps that I had been watching earlier with the way I’m staring, but at least I’m only two years older than her.
Raven POVIt took me a few minutes to process what it was he said, and when I turned to face Jacob, my gaze meeting his, I became tongue-tied again. I couldn’t have formed a word if my life depended on it, so I just nodded. Is this what they mean by love at first sight? That can’t be possible, but what else would explain this? I may not have been the girl that all the guys flocked to talk to, but I have never had a hard time talking to them like this. All I seemed to be able to do was stare and get lost in my head overthinking things. I don’t know how long I sat there zoned out, but the next time I pulled my attention away from Jacob, we were at the table alone. “Where…” I started to say, twisting from left to right looking for the other two.“They said something about feeling out of place or something like that and left. I’ll admit I was a little distracted, so I really don’t know for sure what was said.” Jacob answered before I could even finish my question. I felt the tingles come
Raven POVEver since we got here, I have had this feeling that someone is watching me. I don’t know who. I have tried to figure it out, but I haven’t been able to catch anyone staring. I have, though, spent most of the night watching guy after guy hit on Sara, but I’m used to it. That is how it has always been in our friendship. She was the girl that all the guys wanted, and I was the one that their friends would talk to while they waited. The guy who is talking to Sara now is giving me the creeps, and his friend, who was talking to me, not that I have been paying attention, isn’t any better. Suddenly, a loud growl followed by an angry-sounding howl ripped through the air, but what surprised me the most was Kevin running out of the woods looking like what I would call almost feral. He stopped in front of us, pushed the guys that was talking to Sara to the side and stepped right in close to Sara. They were so close I don’t think a breeze could have passed between them. Kevin didn’t say

Jacob POVAt first, I was a little worried about this party. There seemed to be a lot of younger kids here, but like Kevin had said, it was a public beach area. That started to change as the night went on and the younger ones started to leave. Some of them still looked as if they weren’t even in high school yet, but it is hard to tell their age by firelight. What has me on edge are the ones that, no matter the light, you can tell they are well past the high school age, and in the case of a few of them I’ve seen here, they are well past the average college age. I don’t know if it is the natural protective Alpha instincts that are working, but I’ve been keeping an eye on one in particular. He is even on Coal’s radar. Who, I might add, is still hyped up. Coal has just gotten worse since we got here. So now I don’t know if it is the possibility of what this guy is going to do or something else altogether. I asked Ben and Zane when we arrived if either of their wolves seemed to be… acting
Raven POV“Come on, you have to come tonight. You leave next week. You’re already abandoning me for our last year of high school because you had to go and be all brainy and graduate a year early.” My best friend Sara whined from her closet, where she was trying to find the perfect outfit for this, as she calls it, the most epic party of the year. You have to know this about Sara, all parties are the most epic ever since she met a guy from the private school in our first year of high school. Even after he broke her heart, she still wants to go to these things. I haven’t figured out if it is to see who he is with or so that he can see all the guys that hit on her while we’re there. Her partying habit is one of the reasons why she wasn’t able to go into the accelerated programme with me. Mind you she didn’t have the same need to get out of her house and away from her parents and on her own as I do. She has a good home. Her parents may work a lot, but they were always there when it coun

We were at the last stop of our trip to get contracts renewed for our pack, the Blue Ridge pack in Northern Ontario. I know in this day and age it could all have been done electronically, but that wouldn’t have given Ben and I a chance to look for our mates. The three of us have just turned nineteen over the last few months and are on summer vacation from Alpha training and our college courses. I know Zane wasn’t too happy about coming with us because, as far as he is concerned, my younger sister, Dawn, is his mate and neither he nor his wolf, Slate, is interested in even looking at anyone else. That’s OK… I think. I’m still trying to process the idea of him being with her. It has been bad enough watching
