Chapter 19: All In

Jackson didn’t come back. Not even when it grew dark. I sat up and looked around the room. It felt wrong without him there. I understood why. We were mates and now I would need him around me all the time. Even my wolf had shut me out, saying I needed to think hard about this, and I was beginning to. I was thinking more and more about what Jackson suggested, and I could see why it might work. It might also make my family burn the world to the ground, but we could come out as victors if we truly wanted to. I was just scared out of my mind, but I had to overcome those fears if I wanted the sweet prize at the end. I just hoped Jackson would come back soon. Just as I had thought it, he entered, and I looked at him, surprised. He turned to me, only glancing at me before he went to shower.
