Selene POV

The ritual circle was ancient. It looks like it was carved into the stone courtyard centuries ago. Deep grooves filled with something dark and viscous that looked like blood but smelled worse. Like death and decay and corruption given physical form.

Symbols I didn’t recognize spiraled outward from the center. Runes that hurt to look at directly. That made my eyes water and my head throb.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Sylvester guided me toward the center of the circle. His hand on my arm was gentle. Almost tender. Like we were walking down an aisle instead of toward my doom. “I spent decades perfecting this. Learning the old magics. The forbidden rituals. All for this moment.”

Around the edges of the courtyard, shadow wolves stood guard. Hundreds of them. Their red eyes glowing in the darkness. Their forms shifting and writhing restlessly.

And beyond them, I could see cells. Iron bars set into the stone walls.

Selene POVThe training grounds were beautiful in the morning light.I sat on the stone bench at the edge of the courtyard, watching Sylvester move through his forms. He’d been at it for over an hour now, and I hadn’t gotten bored once. How could I? Every movement was grace and power combined. Every strike, precise and deadly. He moved like water and lightning at once…fluid and fierce. My mate was magnificent. The bond hummed contentedly in my chest as I watched him. This feeling of rightness. Of being exactly where I was supposed to be.He finished a particularly complex sequence and paused, breathing only slightly harder than normal. Even after an hour of intense training, he barely looked winded.I stood and walked over to him, carrying the water I’d brought.“Here.” I offered him the flask. “You must be thirsty.”He took it with a smile. “Thank you, my love.” He drank deeply, then lowered the flask. “How long have you been watching?”“The whole time.” I settled onto the ground bes

Selene POVMy eyes opened slowly. The ceiling above me was beautiful. Ornate moldings with delicate patterns. Soft candlelight casting dancing shadows across the wall.I smiled. This room always made me feel safe. And completely at peace.Home.I stretched languidly, feeling the silk sheets slide against my skin. My body felt wonderful. Like I’d had the best sleep of my life. The bond in my chest hummed contentedly. I could feel him nearby. My mate. The other half of my soul.Just knowing he was close made everything feel right. The door opened and he stepped in.Sylvester.My heart skipped at the sight of him. It always did. Those mercury eyes that saw straight into my soul. That silver hair that caught the light like moonbeams. The strong lines of his face. The way he moved with such grace and power.Gods, he was beautiful. And mine. All mine.“You’re awake.” His vo

Sera POVThe moment I felt the disturbance in the pack bonds…the surge of triumph from Sylvester, the despair from the captured Blackthorn wolves…I knew we were out of time. We’d been preparing for this. Gathering what supplies we could. Planning our route. Looking for weaknesses in the security around Selene’s room. But we’d hoped to have more time. I hoped the rescue party would succeed. Now it was just us.“The guards change shifts at midnight,” Callum said. “That’s our window. Fifteen minutes when the new guards are still getting oriented. When there’s the most confusion.”“And the chains on Selene?”“I’ve been studying them. They’re powered by Sylvester’s magic. Connected to him directly.” Callum pulled out a small vial. “This is pure silver. Blessed by a priestess. If we can get it onto the chains, it might disrupt the magic long enough for Selene to break free.”“Might?”“It’s the best I cou

Marcus POVSomething was wrong.I felt it the moment we walked out from the tunnel into the old market district. A crawling sensation between my shoulder blades. The kind of instinct that had kept me alive through countless battles. This was too easy. The passage had been exactly where Keisha said it would be. It was clear and ungraded with no traps. We’d traveled nearly a mile underground without encountering a single obstacle. And now we stood in an abandoned district with empty buildings and a very silent street..Too silent.“This doesn’t feel right,” Lydia whispered beside me.I squeezed her hand, both to acknowledge her concern and to steady her. She was wound tight as a bowstring, every muscle tense, ready to fight or flee.“Stay alert,” I murmured back. “Keep your eyes open.”Kael was ahead of us, moving with single-minded determination despite his obvious weakness. His face

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 113 The Violation

Selene POVI woke to the sound of chains. My eyes flew open in the darkness. The room was pitch black…Sylvester must have spelled the windows to block out even the moonlight.“Hello, my love.”His voice came from directly beside the bed.I jerked upright, my power instinctively flaring…But nothing happened. I reached for my magic again. Pulled deeper. And tried to summon even a spark of Keeper power.Nothing.“What did you do?” My voice came out hoarse. Panicked.“Just a precaution.” I heard him move. I heard something metallic scrape against stone. “You’ve been so defiant lately. So determined to fight me at every turn. I thought it was time we had more… honest conversation.”A light flared. A single candle on the nightstand. In its flickering glow, I saw Sylvester standing beside the bed, holding chains. But they were obviously not ordinary chains. These glowed with a sickly purple light. S
