ANYA'S POV

The Great Hall had been completely transformed for the reception ahead of the Ancestral Council summit. Crystal chandeliers blazed over polished marble floors, and an orchestra played soft melodies that barely masked the tension hanging thick in the air. The elite of the shapeshifter world filled the room: alphas from other packs, diplomats, and high-ranking warriors. All were dressed in full regalia, yet in every gaze lurked the wild beast beneath.

I walked beside Azkarion, feeling dozens of eyes tracking our every step. I wore a black velvet gown, cut low at the back with an elegant train that brushed the floor. I had applied an extra dose of the blocker to my neck and wrists to keep up the appearance of an omega she-wolf. Azkarion, in his immaculate tuxedo, kept his hand resting firmly on my hip — a clear signal to everyone that I was with him.

"Hold your head high, little liar," he whispered close to my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "Kaelen is approaching — Alpha of the Northern Valley. I need his vote. Smile, but do not seem too warm."

Before I could reply, a broad-shouldered man with light brown hair and deep golden eyes stepped into our path. He held a glass in one hand, and wore a confident smile that was as captivating as it was dangerous.

"Azkarion, brother," he greeted. "I never thought the rumours were true. The whole north speaks of the female who has tamed the hardest Alpha the Hunters have ever known."

"Kaelen," Azkarion replied, his voice turning cold in an instant. His grip on my hip tightened. "May I introduce Anya, my future Luna. Anya, this is the Alpha of the Northern Valley."

I inclined my head slightly, moving with the grace I had practised so many times.

"It is an honour, Alpha Kaelen," I said, smiling with calm reserve.

He looked at me with open fascination. Stepping closer, he took my free hand and brushed his lips slowly over my knuckles.

"The pleasure is entirely mine, beautiful Anya," he murmured, never breaking his gaze. "Azkarion has always guarded his treasures well, but I must admit you have outdone yourself. There is something about you… a calm that feels utterly addictive amid all this chaos."

A chill ran through me — not from him, but from the sudden shift beside me.

Azkarion went rigid as a bowstring pulled to breaking point. It felt as if the air dropped several degrees. He pulled me sharply against him, stepping fully between us, his possessiveness so sharp it stung.

"Anya is not a museum piece, Kaelen," he rumbled low — but the sound carried so far that nearby guests turned, alarmed. "And I would advise you to mind your manners if you wish our alliance to stand."

Kaelen blinked, taken aback by the outburst — but instead of fear, his smile turned knowing. He had struck exactly where it hurt.

"Well now… I had no idea the great Alpha of the Hunters was so jealous," he said, holding up his hands as if in surrender. "I was merely greeting your partner. If she has no objection to speaking with an ally, I see no need to bare your fangs at me."

"My Luna has nothing to say to you," Azkarion cut in, his tone deadly cold.

Without waiting for a reply, he took my hand and led me away, striding fast across the hall. I could feel the elders’ and Gideon’s eyes burning into us, but he seemed to care for nothing at all. I did — my heart hammered wildly at the risk we had just taken.

We stepped into a dim side corridor. Azkarion threw open a dark wooden door, pulled me inside, then slammed it shut and slid the bolt home.

The room was almost entirely dark, lit only by moonlight spilling through the tall window. I turned to face him, furious.

"What is wrong with you?" I demanded, folding my arms. "That is the vote you need! You nearly ruined everything over a greeting! You were about to tear the whole plan apart!"

He closed the distance in three long strides, backing me against the wall and planting his hands on either side of my head so I had nowhere to go. His breath came fast, and his grey eyes blazed with that golden fire that always left me speechless.

"Do not speak to me of plans, Anya," he hissed, pressing his face close to mine. "Do not ask me to stand still and watch another man look at you like that — touch your hand — smile as if he has any right to you."

"It was purely politics!" I whispered back, desperate to keep my head clear. "Remember the deal, Azkarion. All of this is fake. I am only your pretend mate!"

"The deal means very little when men look at you like that," he answered, his voice rough and possessive, sending tremors through every inch of me.

He lifted his hand to my throat, wrapping his fingers firmly around it without squeezing, and forced me to meet his gaze. His thumb brushed along my jawline, and my breath caught in my throat.

"My wolf does not understand contracts or alliances," he went on, leaning so close our breaths tangled. "All it knows… all it has demanded since the very first day you walked into my office… is that you belong to this pack. You are mine. And if anyone ever lays a hand on you again… I will destroy them right before your eyes."

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Night of the Storm

ANYA'S POVNight fell over the mountain with the weight of a predator in no hurry. By ten o’clock, the north wind began to hammer against the windows as if it meant to tear them down, and a winter chill swept through the valley. The first strike came soon after: a sharp crack of thunder boomed across the roof, and every light went out at once. Only the orange glow of the fireplace remained, barely cutting through the dark. The heating died with the power. For them — warm-blooded, with fur woven into their very bones — this cold was nothing. But for me, a human trapped within these stone walls, the air seeped in like icy needles, straight to the marrow.I sat on the edge of the bed, wrapped in the thickest duvet I could find, shivering so hard my teeth chattered. I even imagined the blocker on my skin had frozen solid too.Azkarion stood by the fire, shining a torch over a map. When he heard my frustrated whimper, he turned toward me."You’re freezing," he said, stepping slowly closer.

ANYA'S POVMy hands were still trembling long after Azkarion had left the gym for an urgent meeting with his captains. Where he had touched me, his warmth lingered on my skin, but the cool air of the room helped me regain a little control. I showered quickly, applied another full dose of the blocker, and dressed in a loose wool sweater and dark trousers.I needed a moment alone. Just one minute to remember who I was, and why I had walked straight into this den of wolves, risking my life.I stepped to the window overlooking the forest ravine. The sun was barely managing to pierce the thick mist clinging to the mountainside. Suddenly, the low buzz of my disposable phone — the only human thing I had managed to bring without anyone noticing — cut through the silence. The name flashing on the screen turned my blood to ice: Central Pack Hospital.I answered with clumsy fingers, instinctively stepping away from the door as I held it to my ear."Hello?" I whispered, my voice barely audible."

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Brushing Against the Skin

ANYA'S POVThe private gym in the north wing was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was spacious, with tall windows overlooking the cliff, and entirely lined with thick black leather mats. The air smelled of well-tended leather, cold metal, and above all, that sharp scent of pine and winter that always clung to Azkarion’s skin.It was six in the morning. I stood in the centre of the room, dressed in black training trousers and a t-shirt. Even though I had applied a full dose of the blocker after waking, being alone with him in such an enclosed space always pushed my nerves to their breaking point.Azkarion walked to the middle of the room, wearing only grey trousers and a sleeveless top that showed off his powerful arms and the scars that mapped his skin."A wolf does not fight like a human, Anya," he began, his rough voice cutting through the quiet. "We do not aim for points: we aim for the jugular. What you did last night against that drunk worked, but if Gideon or someone of his r

ANYA'S POVThe silence that followed Azkarion’s words was so thick it seemed to freeze the air. Gideon halted abruptly in the doorway: his yellow eyes blazed with held-back rage and the fear of taking one more step. Behind him, the four guards kept their hands resting on their weapons, yet none dared move forward. That pressure radiating from Azkarion was like an invisible wall, a clear warning: anyone foolish enough to provoke him would not leave alive. He held me pressed tight to his chest, shielding me almost entirely with his body. I could feel his heart hammering against my back and the heat rising from his skin. His hand on my waist did not loosen even a fraction: firm, possessive, completely in control. But what frightened me most was not the men at the door — it was what I knew: the blocker had worn off completely from the strain of the fight. My true scent began to fill the air, sweet and fragile, an aroma that among so many wolves was a death sentence."Your envoy?" Gideon r

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Trail of obsession

ANYA'S POVThe cold of the metal against my throat left me frozen, but the adrenaline that ran through me burned the fear before I could be paralyzed. The man had me cornered against the railing, pushing me with all his might, and his hot breath—which smelled of alcohol and raw meat—was pounding my ear."One cut, little wolf," he hissed in the darkness, resting the blade just above my wrist. If Alpha or pure bloodline blood comes out, I'll apologize to Gideon. But if you bleed like any ordinary human... I'll slit your throat right here before your male finds out.All the survival nonsense I had practiced alone for weeks came to mind. A wolf expected a human to stiffen or beg; a submissive wolf would submit. I couldn't do either.Instead of leaning back, I did just the opposite: I nailed the heel of my shoe with all my strength to the attacker's instep. He let out a muffled groan, and his grip faltered for a second: it was all I needed. I nudged her hard in the ribs and turned suddenly
