She answered the phone as Shadow continued holding her, which made her a little nervous. “Hello?” she asked, answering the phone. “Where are you?” He asked her. “I’m... Out.” She told him. “I heard what happened to you. I didn’t see you at university, so I was worried about you.” He told her. “I’m fine. I was worried about you as well. What’s going on with you? You were acting different today.” She told him. Shadow didn’t like that she was worried about another man in front of him so he kissed her neck which made her gasped. “What happened?” Zack asked worriedly, hearing her gasp. “Nothing. I just almost dropped my phone.” She lied to him. She looked at Shadow and gave him a troubled look. He gently pushed her down and got on top of her. She looked at him with wide eyes. “Can we meet up? I want to talk to you about that.” He told her. “Tell me where you are. I’ll pick you up.” Shadow mouthed her ‘no’. “At the beac
She was shocked at what was happening. This didn’t feel right. She felt like she was committing a big sin. She tried to push him away, but he wouldn’t budge. He was too strong. She grabbed his hair and tried to pull him away, but he didn’t move at all. She started crying and yelled against his mouth. He finally let her go and saw her upset face. She slapped him across his face so hard that her palm started stinging. He didn’t feel the pain from the slap, but he was definitely hurt. “I can’t believe you forced yourself on me! I hate you!” she told him and ran away crying. He stood there regretting what he just did. Not only did he disappoint her, but also made her hate him. He hated himself. Shadow was waiting for Lillian, leaning against his bike. He did not like the idea of her being alone with a vampire. He trusted her, but not him. He looked away and saw her running towards him. He looked at her, shocked, as she came closer because she was cryin
Shadow woke up to the sound of her whimpering. They were in his bedroom. He carried her to his bed and slept beside her. He got up and looked at her. She was covered in sweat; she had a deep troubled frown, and her hands were gripping the sheets tightly. He shook her. “Lillian, wake up.” He called her. “Lily!” Her eyes flew open and he could see the fear in her eyes. She turned around and saw Shadow. She hugged him. He patted her back to comfort her. “It was just a nightmare.” He told her. “No, it wasn’t.” She told him in a low tone, “It was a memory of my father dying.” He froze for a second and felt sad for her. “It was in the past. Don’t dwell on it.” He told her. But no matter how many years pass by, she will never forget it. But she felt at ease in his embrace and she soon fell asleep. She woke up, the next morning, and found herself alone. She looked around and saw that she was in bed. ‘So, I wasn’t dreaming
Zack didn’t go home after what happened. He just sat in his car, filled with regret. He wondered if she was ever going to forgive him. When she mentioned they went to a hotel together, he felt extremely jealous and his emotions took over him. He knew he just blew up his relationship with Lillian and things would never be the same between them anymore. He ran back home and got his car. Then he drove to the river and rested his head against the steering wheel. He wished he could sleep to pass the time quickly, but being a vampire deprived him of that luxury. Each minute passed by slowly for him and eventually the sun started to rise. He started his car and drove back home. When he got home, Alan looked at him. “Where were you the entire night?” Alan asked. “By the river.” Zack told him. Alan knew right away that something was wrong because his son’s tone was off. “Everything okay?” Alan asked him as he walked to the stairs. “Just leave
Her day at the office was as usual, just without Zack around her. Around lunch time she got a call from the receptionist. "Miss Adams, there's a Shadow Rivera here to see you." The receptionist told her. "Okay, thank you for informing me. I'll be right there." She told her. "You're welcome, Miss." The receptionist told her and the call ended. She got up and wondered why he was there. She looked at the clock and saw it was her lunch break, so it would be okay for her to leave her station for a while. She went down to the lobby and found him waiting near the reception desk. She saw he was holding a bag. Shadow saw her coming towards her and smiled. "What are you doing here?" She asked him. He lifted the bag and showed it to her. "I made lunch." He told her. She looked at him, surprised. "Why?" she asked him in a surprised tone. "You're my girlfriend, that's why." He told her. "I'll take care of you from now on." She
Zack was sitting on the edge, on the rooftop. The scene of Lillian and Shadow kissing kept repeating in his mind. He hit his head with his palms to stop himself from thinking of that. He suddenly heard the door open and looked back. He saw Lillian walking with her eyes glued to her phone. She had this love-struck smile which pained his heart because he knew it was because of Shadow. He thought of leaving, but he couldn’t, so he slowly walked up to her and hugged her from behind. He could feel her fighting against him, but he didn’t want to let her go. “LET ME GO!” she yelled at him. “I can’t.” He told her. She froze when she realised who this voice belonged to. “Can’t you give me a chance?” he asked her in a distressed tone. Lillian let her hands drop. “You can’t force someone to like you. It doesn’t work that way. Besides, I have some I like already.” She told him. He didn’t want to listen to that. He turned her around angrily.
The three were now sitting at a table on the rooftop. “So, you’re a witch?” Lillian asked her. “Yes.” Olivia replied. “So… is it a coincidence that we met at the hospital and the dorms?” she asked her. “The hospital was a coincidence. The dorm mmm… not really.” Olivia told her. “Why are you following me, then?” she asked her. Olivia glanced at Zack, who was looking at her, annoyed. “She said that my kind killed your birth parents and you’re in danger.” he answered her instead of Olivia. She looked at them, shocked. “What do you mean? My dad was killed by a wolf. I remember that.” She told them, not believing what she just heard. Olivia shook her head. “No, they were your adoptive parents. I know that because I was the one who helped your birth mother deliver you. And at her request, I left you in the care of humans that I thought would be best for you.” Olivia told her. Zack and Lillian looked at her in shock. “B-
Lillian was very interested in the witch kind and was listening to Olivia with interest. “Okay. So, has anyone ever broken the blood oath?” she asked her. “Some, yes. When it was first introduced.” Olivia told her. “The blood oath is very scary, and I think that is one of the reasons why no one would dare to break it. But there are not a lot of blood oaths made in the first place. It is only used for really important things. Like for keeping peace etc. but can use it for personal use too if we want. There’s no law against that.” Olivia told her. She nodded understandingly. “But why are you protecting me?” I mean, I’m not related to you or anything? Am I? She asked her.” she asked her. Olivia sighed. “There are some things that are better unsaid. Your mother wanted you to live a normal life.” Olivia told her. “But then, why do I need protection? Why me?” she asked her in a frustrated tone. “I’m sorry. I can’t tell.” Olivia told her.
