Scarlet

Three days later, I decided to make a move. One solid move that'll get me out of this place and get my daughter back to me safely.

In exchange for my daughter, I'd promised those monsters that I'll get them the pack's territorial map. I never knew or understood their obsession with the pack. I was the one who walked into their trap, and I hated myself for getting my daughter involved.

I hated myself for following Henry that night. If I had known, I would've stayed back at home like he wanted.

The reason why I had to find a job was that I needed an ID that would give me access to most facilities in the pack. Two days after I got the job, I received my ID card.

Today, I would be making my first move. After classes, I packed up my bag, ready to go to the library. No one would suspect anything because it wouldn't be weird to find a teacher in a library.

“See you tomorrow, Miss Greene,”

Two of my students chorused.

I nodded awkwardly, knowing fully well there was a possibility tha

Scarlet“Where are we going?” I asked for the umpteenth time since I reluctantly entered his car, and he drove off. Not like I had a choice, the bastard had threatened to hurt Jake. I stopped fighting tooth and nail with him once I saw Jake in that terrible situation. I'd sat still in his car, my eyes filled with tears and my lower lip trembling. When he tried to fix my seatbelt, I slapped his hand off. He growled and murmured some incoherent words before he took the driver's seat and drove off. A few minutes into the ride, I quickly fix the seatbelt. He was driving like a maniac, and I feared I would die tonight.“Can you shut up for a few minutes?” He clicked his tongue as he slammed his foot on the accelerator, sending the car flying over the bump in the road.“You do realize this is kidnapping and assault,” I screamed. “You can't just drive me off to heaven's knows where without at least cooperation from me,” I argued. He'd been silent ever since. No matter what I said or asked,

ScarletJake and I agreed to get lunch after school. It was a Friday, which meant classes ended by midday and everyone was out of the school in thirty minutes. I was thankful for that one thing at least.Getting lunch from one of my favorite restaurants was also a dream. My life was shitty at the moment, but at least I got to eat again at my favorite restaurant. I hadn't visited there since I returned to the pack, but back in high school, it was my favorite place in the world. The grandma who owned the place was as warm and welcoming as her little restaurant. Her food was like healing to wounded souls.Jake suggested picking me up from school, but I suggested otherwise. I would meet up with him.He was already waiting by the time I arrived.“Hey, latecomer,” He joked as he waved at me.“Hey, early bird,” I waved back. The restaurant wasn't as packed as it used to be. Aside from Jake occupying the space close to the window, there were about four other people in the restaurant.“Your un

Scarlet“You have a daughter,” Roman stressed out as soon as I walked into the room. The light was on now but I still couldn't find a tangible explanation or reason as to why he was sitting in the darkness in my room. His legs were firmly planted on the carpet while his hands were folded on his chest. A strand of his hair was strayed on his face but it didn't look strayed, it looked like it was where it was supposed to be. Why was I noticing so many little things about him? Was the matebond messing with me? Or was I just clearly losing my shit? “I don't see how that concerns you,” I responded. I hadn't dropped the bags I was holding when Roman stood in front of me. Startled, I dropped the bags to the floor and looked up at him. He was close! So close I could smell his aftershave. His scent worked its ways into my brain and my heart was so close to dropping hard into my stomach. There was a warmth attached to his closeness but that shit wasn't my business. “We talked about this,

SCARLET The anger I felt immediately Emma said my daughter's name was far beyond what I'd ever imagined. I wanted to grab her by the neck and slammed her body against the wall. Jake didn't let go of my hand, he held it so tightly I was scared he would break my fingers but it was helpful. It was the only thing stopping me from pouncing on Emma. My breathing was uneven and I was gradually turning pale. How dare she mention Elara's name? In front of Roman of all people. The bitch still had an innocent smile on her face and I was the only one who knew how fake that was. “Elara is such a beautiful name, don't you think, Jake?” She asked. Jake totally ignored her. He didn't say a word but I could feel his eyes on me. “Where is she? Why didn't you come back to the pack with her?” She asked. “Myabe because she doesn't exist. Why take a rumor so far, Emma?” Jake asked. Emma became stunned. She stared at Jake as she became dumbfounded. I relaxed a little since Jake had successfully tur

Scarlet “You look stunning, Scar,” Jake complimented as soon as we met up. I didn't bother going back to the Rosehill Mansion after school hours. I waited a bit, then went to the nearest clothing store to get a new dress. It was just a blue seagull-print mini dress, nothing extravagant.Jake picked me up from there. “You look good, Jake,” I complimented him while my eyes lingered on his outfit. The brown jacket and black pants suited him perfectly, blending with his skin tone in a way that made his entire presence stand out“Thanks, Scar,” “Shall we?” he asked, and I nodded as soon as I fixed my seatbelt.“Do you know the way to her house?”“She lives in the penthouse on pack house E.” “Wow,” “Yep. Her mom made it big three years after you left. Apparently, her late father left behind a lot of inheritance. It didn't make sense, but nobody questioned it.” “Wow,” I repeated, still stunned. I knew her father had died just weeks before graduation, but I never realized he was wealth

ScarletThe new room I was assigned in The Rosehill Mansion was far better than the previous one. If I'd stayed one more hour in that room, I would've lost my sanity.Merely looking at the scratches on the wall almost made me lose my mind. Whatever happened to the old occupant of that room was terrible. I wished I were brave enough to trace along the lines on those walls; maybe they would be enough to tell the dark stories.I couldn't ask Roman. Asking him would mean I was interested in his personal life, and that was the last thing I wanted. The psychopathic murdering bastard wasn't in his right senses anyway. Doing something like that could trigger him.My phone vibrated in my small purse. I brought it out and saw it was Jake.He was outside the school and asking to see me. It was lunch break, and I was sitting in the staff lunch room, having only water. I couldn't stomach anything. I thought I couldn’t eat in my father’s house because of my anger toward him, but even after leaving,
