Ch. 66 - Despair

Kristof's Point of View

As soon as the van screeched to a stop in front of the house, I was out of the door looking for her. Hearing the others, I ran straight around the house towards the forest. Aláine was nowhere to be found. Zara was in tears over Frederic, who had a wound on his chest. Axel was running around barking while Kieran was sitting on the grass holding an unconscious Callie in his arms. To call it chaos was an understatement.

Where was Aláine? I stripped and changed into my Lycan form and sniffed around for Aláine's scent. Despite being half an hour old, I had found it and was able to follow it. I noticed that there were three to four other scents there, including Viktor’s. I would know his fetid stench anywhere. My nose led me straight to a large manmade hole in the fence. Going through the hole, I continued following her scent, which took me as far as the road.

"Aláine!" I howled loudly to the empty road.
