My heart was beating faster than ever in my chest, it was as if my ribs were breaking sooner.

I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think properly. But I knew one thing for sure—this assassin holding me knew something deep about me. And worse of it all, I knew him. Yes I do. His scent and voice gave me a clue. My breath caught. I was fully ready to make a move. Hit him off and escaped from his grip, but my body betrayed me just when I needed the help most— I suddenly became frozen not from fear, but from the recognition.

The scent I perceived was a ghost of my past. The warm cedarwood which was laced with a hint of burnt amber filled the environment. The scent of someone I once trusted. Someone who was the last expected to do this.

"Micah," I gasped, freezing in shock. I wanted to convince myself I was dreaming. Micah can't! He can't come all the way long to assassinate me.

My eyes were just piercing through the blade in his hand which was trembling slightly at my throat. His facial express

I woke to the soft hum of voices outside my door. Listening to the voice I could tell it was Killian's voice. This was the room Killian has given to me to stay for the meantime. It was the best stay I had ever had since I was born. All my life I had been in a cage, with shackles and scuffed around my legs. A slave who was mute. My throat aches badly, not from the screaming last night—I couldn’t—but from holding in the storm that had raged inside me all night. I was yet to believe that Micha would ever want to assassinate me. He was the finger that feeds me. Why would he want to bite me? If he could want to do such, would Killian ever want to assassinate me too one day?The memory of what happened that night was still fresh in my memory, not leaving anytime soon. I knew that smell of his scent and each word he dropped kept ranging in my brain. I was cursed. I belonged to Sebastian. I was never going to speak. The moonband. I knew in my bones that he was telling the truth. It was a bitt

The morning sunlight flashes through the window like a false promise of peace and hits my face. I sat on the edge of the bed in the unfamiliar room, staring at my hands, nothing was running through my mind but I got my eyes pinned staring at it.They trembled slightly from the adrenaline which was yet to run off from me. Last night’s attack hadn’t been a dream. It was so huge and terrible that I thought I couldn't make it. The assassin had nearly killed me, and no one—no one—got to him in time. I had to struggle to get myself off. I couldn't scream nor could I call out for help.Tears had pulled up in my eyes, maybe I needed to run away from this pack, to avoid being murdered by the assassin. But where in particular? Leaving this pack would only open me to more dangers as Sebastian will stop at nothing to get hold of me.I had stopped waiting for anyone to save me. I needed to stand up and save myself but realization hit me. I was no match to him. A weakling who is mute.Killian had

I knew that scar. It was more familiar to me than any other memory I could recall. The flash of it in my mind made my chest tighten, a cold knot forming in my stomach. I tried hard to think of where I had seen it before, but each attempt was met with a wall of nothing. The image haunted my dreams for years—the hand that grabbed me, pulling me back when I tried to run from Sebastian’s estate. And now, that same hand, with the same jagged scar, was on Darius’s wrist.I couldn’t stop staring at it, but I knew I needed to. I had to understand what this meant. Darius’s movements felt off to me ever since I first met him. His kindness felt too calculated, too rehearsed. But this—this scar—this was something deeper. A secret I wasn’t sure I was ready to uncover.I couldn’t sleep that night. My eyes refused to close. Every time I tried, the scar flashed in my mind. The sound of Sebastian’s voice. The feeling of cold fingers gripping my arm.Instead, I watched. I waited. My heartbeat was too l

Everything stopped. The world slowed. I couldn’t breathe. The blood—the sight of it—made my stomach turn. My mind screamed, but I couldn’t hear anything except the loud thumping of my heart. My vision blurred. My hands shook.Killian.The blood was pooling around him, dark and thick. His eyes locked onto me. His body was still. Too still.I felt the pull in my chest—the ache that grew stronger the longer I stared at him. My throat burned with the weight of my unspoken words. I wanted to scream, to beg him to move, to tell me he was okay. But I couldn’t. Not a single sound escaped my lips.I was useless. The tension in the air felt thick, suffocating, as Darius’s figure stood in front of me, his chest heaving. He was breathing hard, his eyes wide, and he was watching Killian, almost waiting for something. Waiting for a reaction. Waiting for him to fight back. But Killian didn’t move. Not yet.My hands trembled as I reached for him, my body instinctively wanting to run to his side, but

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. Everything felt like it was happening too fast, and yet, in that moment, it felt like time was standing still.Darius was coming straight for Killian, his eyes filled with rage, and his hand was reaching for the blade he had pulled out. I saw the glint of metal in the moonlight, and I couldn’t stand still any longer.I couldn’t let him hurt Killian.I didn’t think so. I acted on instinct.I ran toward Darius, shouting silently in my mind to stop him, to stop this madness. My feet hit the ground hard, and the stick in my hand felt useless, but I gripped it tight. I could barely see anything but Darius’s furious face and the blade in his hand. I had to stop him before it was too late.My heart was pounding in my chest, but I didn’t care. I couldn’t just let Killian be hurt again. I was useless, but I wasn’t going to stand there and do nothing.I closed the distance between us quickly, pushing myself harder, faster. But as I got closer, Darius turned,

I couldn’t see anything in the fog. It was thick and suffocating, wrapping around me like a heavy blanket. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel the panic rising in my throat. I tried to take deep breaths, but the air felt heavy, making it hard to breathe. My eyes darted around, but there was nothing. Nothing but the swirling smoke that made everything blurry.I needed to find Killian. He had to be somewhere. He was strong—he could survive. But I couldn’t be sure, not with this fog clouding everything. I started walking, my feet unsure on the uneven ground, my body tense as I listened for any sound that could guide me. The footsteps I had heard earlier stopped. There was nothing now. Just silence.I kept moving, my ears straining for any sign of life. I reached out with my hands, brushing them against trees and rocks, trying to steady myself. I had to keep going. I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t leave him alone out there.“Killian?” I whispered, hoping my voice would break through

My heart pounded in my chest as their hands gripped me tighter. Raven’s men, their fingers digging into my arms, were too strong. My mind screamed for freedom, but my body was weak, exhausted from running.I couldn’t let them take me back. I couldn’t—With all my strength, I twisted in their grasp, pulling at their hold. One of them jerked back, startled by my sudden movement, and I broke free. A rush of adrenaline surged through me as I stumbled forward, my feet dragging across the ground. I didn’t care where I was going—I just needed to escape. Escape from their grip and run back home, maybe to inform the guards that Killian is missing. The night air hit my face as I sprinted away from them, ignoring the sharpness in my muscles. I didn’t stop, not even when the world around me blurred. I had to get back to the pack house. To inform the guards about Killian's whereabouts. The ground beneath my feet felt uneven, but I pushed on. Every breath was a struggle, but I couldn’t—no, I woul

I sat on the edge of the chair, my fingers curled tightly around the pen. The notebook in front of me looked empty. Just like my head. Just like my voice. Just like my life has been empty. “Don’t worry,” Luca said with a kind smile. “We’ll start small today, Selene. Writing your name. That’s all.”He pulled his chair closer. His presence was calm, gentle. Not threatening. I didn’t flinch when he moved—he wasn’t like Raven.“Here. Hold the pen like this,” he said, guiding my fingers. “S... E... L...”My hand trembled. I pressed the pen down and scratched out a shaky “S.” It didn’t look right. I frowned.“Hey,” Luca said quickly. “It’s fine. That’s great for a first try.”I looked at him. His smile didn’t feel fake.“Let’s try again. Just follow my hand.”I tried again. “E... L... E... N... E.” The letters were crooked and uneven. I looked at him, ashamed.“You did it.” He pointed at the page. “That’s your name.”I blinked my eyes at what he said. I couldn’t smile, not really, but I ga

The sun crept through the trees in pale, hesitant beams, but they did nothing to ease the weight pressing on my chest. The camp, once a safe haven, now felt like a maze full of shadows. Each corner I turned seemed to hold another secret, and I was too exhausted to keep searching for answers. Every step I took felt like I was walking on the edge of something—something I couldn’t quite see but could feel closing in around me. I wanted to trust the people here, wanted to let the illusion of safety in, but I couldn’t. Not yet. Not when there were so many whispers in the air—so many secrets hidden just beneath the surface. The morning began like any other, the quiet hum of the camp bustling around me, but there was an unease settling deep within my bones. I could feel it the moment I woke up—the weight of silence between me and the pack. My body was healing, yes, thanks to Luca’s careful attention, but my mind… my mind was still a shattered mess. The tenderness in his touch, his constant

Whispers Beneath the Moon. The moon-hollow spring shimmered like spilled silver beneath the gathering dusk. I couldn’t look away. It wasn’t just the reflection of the moon that caught my breath, but the way the water seemed to pulse with a life of its own, as though it were somehow aware of me. The air was thick with ancient magic, and it wrapped around me, squeezing my chest in a way I couldn’t explain.I’d seen beautiful places before, but none that made my heart ache with such unease. There was something so eerily perfect about this moment—too perfect. I couldn’t shake the feeling that the world was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen. The soft ripples of the spring mirrored the flickering of my thoughts, both chaotic and restless. My eyes, locked onto the water’s surface, reflected a version of me I barely recognized—a girl lost in a world of secrets, searching for something she couldn’t quite define. My bare feet sank slightly into the cool, smooth stones beneat

  • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 68

The first thing I noticed was the scent of herbs—sharp, bitter, and so overwhelming that it clung to the inside of my nose like an invasive reminder. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it wasn’t comforting either. I tried to focus on something else, but as soon as I opened my eyes, a wave of exhaustion slammed into me. The soft flicker of candlelight danced on the walls, casting long shadows that seemed to stretch across the room like tired spirits. The air was thick with the scent of healing oils, balms, and damp earth, all tinged with something sharper—the bitter aftertaste of the wolfsbane poison I’d barely survived.I tried to lift my hand to touch my face, but it felt as though a thousand pounds were pressing down on me. My body didn’t obey me as it once had. Each joint, each vein, felt like it had been soaked in slow fire.It burned and pulsed through every part of me. I was alive, but I didn’t feel truly awake. My skin felt too tight against my bones, my limbs heavy, sluggish. I barely

  • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 67

The first thing I felt was the pounding in my skull. It wasn’t sharp, but a deep, echoing ache—like someone was striking a drum underwater. Each throb sent a ripple through my temples, making it harder to breathe, to think. My lashes trembled against the weight of consciousness as I blinked slowly, trying to pull myself from the fog.A soft warmth surrounded me—the familiar scent of lavender detergent on my sheets, the feathery brush of my pillow beneath my cheek. I was home, in my room. But the peace I normally felt here had vanished. Everything felt... off. The silence was too heavy. The air is still. Time itself seemed suspended. And then I saw him.Killian. Perched at the edge of the bed like a sentinel refusing to leave his post. His usually unreadable expression had crumbled. His hand wrapped around mine, not gently, but like it was a lifeline—one he couldn’t afford to lose. The tendons in his fingers were taut, his knuckles pale from the force of his grip.He looked like a man

  • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 66

The air in the room felt unusually still when I woke up, like time itself had paused. I reached out and found Killian's pillow next to mine, the scent of him still lingering in the fabric, as comforting as it was bittersweet. He’d been staying close, his presence a constant reassurance in the chaos I had been thrust into. But today, I woke to an empty bed. I wasn’t sure what time it was, but the quietness of the room seemed to stretch on forever, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.Since arriving at the pack, I’d been doing my best to adjust. But no matter how much I tried, I always felt like an outsider. Still, I couldn’t deny that some things were starting to feel a little more familiar. I was slowly learning how to fit in—at least, I hoped I was. Killian had trusted me enough to leave me in Elara’s care while he handled matters within the pack. His departure wasn’t sudden, but it still left a pit in my stomach. He said he’d be back soon, that it wasn’t anything

  • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 65

The pain in my head is overwhelming, a dull throb that pulses in sync with the rapid beats of my heart. I blink, trying to clear my vision, but all I see are the blurry outlines of familiar faces, the chaos of the previous night still heavy in my chest. My hands tremble as I sit up in the bed, the cold sheets tangled around me, offering no comfort. The room is dark, save for the faint glow of morning creeping in from the window. But there’s something wrong in the air, an undercurrent of tension that seeps through the walls.I instinctively look to my side. Killian. His broad frame is sitting by my bed, his arm resting on my shoulder in what is supposed to be a comforting gesture. But all I feel is the weight of his presence—his protective nature, his concern. It suffocates me more than it soothes.“Killian?” I croak, my voice rough from sleep, but also from the knot of anxiety that twists in my stomach. He doesn’t answer, his gaze fixed on the distant corner of the room, his jaw clen

  • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 64

The air was still—too still. It was the kind of silence that didn’t soothe but stifled, wrapping around me like a noose. I opened my eyes to find the world bathed in a dull, gray light, the morning sun struggling to pierce through the curtains. Shadows clung to the corners of the room like ghosts. My chest tightened before I even sat up, dread anchoring itself deep in my stomach like a lead weight. My dreams had been nothing but twisted chaos. I’d seen Sebastian’s cold, dead eyes gleaming from the shadows, his mouth unmoving, yet his voice slithered through my mind like a curse. Raven was there too—his smile dripping with triumph, a smirk carved from cruelty. Their whispers had followed me into sleep, poisoning every corner of my subconscious. Even now, awake and aware, I could still feel them lingering—unseen but close, like breath on the back of my neck.I sat up, but my hands betrayed me—they trembled uncontrollably. I tried to steady them, to get the fear away, but it was like

I jolted upright in bed, a strangled gasp ripping from my throat as icy sweat soaked the back of my neck. My lungs burned for air, my chest heaving like I had just escaped drowning. The shadows in the room loomed larger than usual, clawing at the corners of my mind as if trying to pull me back into the nightmare I had just escaped. But it wasn’t just a dream—it was a vision. A message. A warning.Sebastian’s face lingered behind my eyelids, his pale eyes burning into mine with a haunting familiarity. It wasn’t just a memory—I could feel him. Somehow, impossibly, he had found a way to reach me through the tether that still existed between our cursed bloodlines. A bond I thought I had buried long ago now clawed its way back to the surface.Pain spiked behind my eyes, sharp and punishing. I clutched my head, pressing my palms against my temples as if that could cage the power surging inside me. It was like a storm—hot, relentless, alive. • The Alpha's Mute Mate    Chapter 62

I jolted awake with a strangled gasp, my chest heaving as though I had been running for miles. My skin was clammy with sweat, and my pulse thundered in my ears. The remnants of the dream—or rather, the vision—clung to me like a shadow that wouldn’t let go.I could still see his eyes—Sebastian’s—glowing crimson in the darkness, filled with amusement and cruelty. I could hear his voice calling my name, soft like silk, but with a promise of death in every syllable. And just before the vision ended, I saw flames devour everything I loved.I sat up, pulling the blankets off with shaking hands. My breath fogged in the air despite the warmth of the room. The atmosphere felt too still, like the world was holding its breath. There was a strange pressure in the air—thick, heavy, and pulsing like a second heartbeat. It wasn’t just the aftershock of the vision. No, this was something else—something inside me.A warm, tingling sensation rolled beneath my skin like electricity. I could feel it puls
