Mag-log in~Brady~My tired brain feels muddled. Despite my resolve, I tossed and turned most of the night, feeling uneasy that Lindsey was keeping things from me. Now to hear that she and Jagger shared a mate bond, even if it was weakened by her not having a wolf, my head just continues to spin. I’ve got about a million questions running through my mind, but I’m at peace with her last statement. “I just want you.”Those words echo through my entire being, filling me with warmth and serenity. I look over at her and decide that I need to hold her. I get out of the truck to head around to her side. I hear her call after me, only now realizing that I haven’t said anything in return. I open her door and hold out my hand, helping her down before pulling her tightly to my chest. Her scent envelops me from head to toe, lulling the fear inside. I breathe deeply, letting it fill my lungs. She’s still in my arms, though she hugs me back. I feel her body relax against mine, making Knight purr in my mind;
~Lindsey~ I hear a knock on the door and hear Dad go to answer. “Morning Brady! Come on in.” He says warmly. I smile quietly to myself, pleased that my dad and Brady get along so well. “Thanks John. Busy day ahead?” I ask. “Yeah. Got a surgery scheduled this morning. Nothing major. Some omega had their finger grow back crooked. Said he broke it at his job. Construction worker I believe.” Dad says. “Sounds painful. I hope everything goes well. He’s in good hands. Nothing for him to worry about.” I quickly finish up, wanting to have some extra alone time with Brady. He’s early, so I’m hoping he will take the long way to school which would give us more time to be together. I walk into the living room after giving myself one final look. “Good morning.” I can’t help the blush that comes on my face, or the smile. “Good morning. You look beautiful.” He smiles. I notice he seems to relax a little as well. “Alright. You kids ready to go? Don’t forget your coffee, Lin.” “Oh
~Brady~After Lindsey leaves, I’m left alone with my mom and her friends. I have to go to training soon, so I’m mentally preparing to excuse myself when I’m dragged from my thoughts. “Brady! I think I’m going to take your mom up on her offer.” I turn around to make eye contact with Jagger, who has a slight bounce in his step. I can’t help but wonder what has him in a good mood. “And what offer was that?” I’m slightly concerned. There’s no telling what my mom offered him. She’s trying to show off, not to mention she’s doing her best to put space between Jagger and Lindsey. Jagger laughs. “She must have forgotten to tell you. I mentioned that I hadn’t had a good workout since I got here, so she recommended that I join one of the training sessions.” I can tell by the look on his face that he’s up to something. “Sure. I’m leaving in a few if you want a ride. Just let me know.” I try to turn away, but he calls after me. “I’d love one, thanks!” Well at least he has manners. We get in
~Lindsey~ Now it’s Callie’s turn to be surprised. “You did what? But how? You don’t have a wolf!” I shrug. “Humans have mated wolves before. We just assumed it would be the same until I got my wolf. Jagger even thought it might help her come early.” “That’s insane. How old were you?” “16.” I look down. I can’t see the judgment in her eyes right now. “And he was 18?” She asks, raising her eyebrows. “Yeah. Almost 19.” I feel her sit up and grab my hand. “Lindsey, he manipulated you.” I shake my head. “It wasn’t like that, Callie. I loved him. He was my whole world, and I was his. I had been in love with him for three years at that time. I couldn’t see myself with anyone else. I know you hate him, but Jagger is and was a really great guy.” She shakes her head. “Wait a minute. How did he mate Gemma if he was mated to you?” “That’s the worst part.” I look down. “He came to reject me. Technically I rejected him first. I wanted to prove to him that I could move o
~Lindsey~ I heard them talking all around me, but I find it hard to pay attention. As if Jagger’s reminder wasn’t enough, I’m now worried about who White Fang will send in their delegation. My thoughts are a bit chaotic right now. Knowing Walt, he’d love to send Blaine to spice things up; he and Jagger have had issues since day one. Him pursuing me the second Jagger found his mate just added fuel to the fire. I’ve worked through some on the trauma he’s caused me, but I would be happy to never see him again. I think about some of the other options Walt has. If Uncle Rob or Gamma Victor come, he might actually want peace. However if Walt sends his closest warriors, I have no doubt that they will be cunning and vicious. We won’t be able to be at peace as long as they are here. A part of me worries they will try to harm Brady or his family. If Walt would banish his own son, there’s no limit to his cruelty. Plus, I’m pretty sure he killed Gemma to make sure Jagger couldn’t have an hei
~Brady~ Alex leads me out to a private section of the packhouse; I’m fully aware he wouldn’t come to me for something that wasn’t urgent. I hated leaving Lindsey with that snake Jagger, but I have to make sure the pack is safe. “What’s up?” I ask when we’re well out of earshot from anyone who happens to walk outside of the packhouse. “There’s a situation. White Fang wants to send a delegation Saturday, but they’re being discreet about the names of who they’re sending.” I see the conflict behind his eyes. There’s something he’s not telling me. “Ok. The treaty says that we can ask who they’re sending or deny their delegation from entering our lands.” I eye him suspiciously. “What are you not telling me?” Alex sighs. “They say they’re sending their gamma and another high ranking warrior to head negotiations. Finding out who the gamma is doesn’t give us issue, but they haven’t given us a name for the warrior.” So they’re being sneaky. No wonder he’s antsy. “Then they can
~ Lindsey ~ Who does this alpha asshole think he is? I meet his gorgeous blue eyes dead on, mischief and arrogance lace his features. “Uh I guess showing me where my classes are since, ya know, that’s your job.” After I make my intentions clear I turn away from him and try to create as much dista
~Lindsey~ I walk down the pavement and open the truck door. “Good morning!” I say with a smile. “Thanks again for picking me up, Mr. Matt. Hi, I’m Lindsey!” I wave to the girl in the middle seat, who I am assuming is Callie. “Hi, I’m Callie. You wouldn’t happen to be this happy every morning
~ Lindsey ~ We drive to the school, which is conveniently only about ten minutes from home. “That was quick. Is Black Forest smaller than White Fang?” I ask. “It’s actually larger. They rebuilt this school in the center of the pack when Alpha Cameron met Luna Maci. She wanted a nice place fo
~Lindsey~ After shopping we take a quick grocery run to pick up some fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat. There were basic essentials and shelf stable items already in the house, but Dad believes in cooking healthy meals. Probably the doctor in him feels a little hypocritical telling others to do t
