I don’t try to escape again, not yet anyway. I will, but I need to get my timings right. I barely had minutes and I needed to find a way to get out without the wolves tracking me.

Each day Zane pushes a little more, trying to get answers from me. The silent treatment made him angry and he often stormed from the bedroom, locking the door behind him.

Sometimes, in that moment of frustration, a smile would sneak on to my face because it was getting harder and harder for him to hide his anger.

For an entire week he redressed my feet daily, carefully inspecting the wounds. Not once did I mutter a word of gratitude. I know I should, but does the man who is holding me captive deserve it?

On the seventh day, he doesn’t rewrap my feet after inspecting them. He rises to his full height. “Put your shoes on.”

“I prefer….”

“I don’t care. Put your shoes on.”
