I never really understood the concept of death coming and going, taking whoever she wanted anytime she pleased. Each time I was unfortunate enough to witness the death of others, only one question kept lingering in my mind - Did they ever have a choice? Were they given an opportunity? I guess not because as I laid on the all too familiar bed, listening to the sound of machines get louder than before, it seemed to me like they weren't really given an opportunity. The ward had become colder and even my body parts seemed not to be in support of seeing me alive again. I could feel the coldness lurk around, loitering around my body and starting to create a familiarity between us. Everything Around me didn't look as colorful as they once used to and it was even difficult to hold a lie. “Beep. Beep. Beep,” was the one sound from the machine, giving the ward a bit of life compared to my fragile self with a sickly pale skin laying on the bed. With each breath I took, it became heavier than the last and the cold crept underneath my skin, reminding me that the end was near, and perhaps, it was time to wave goodbye to everything. I let my eyes close, the silence keeping me company and reminding me of the things I never did. “Ooh, you’re so silly,” a sudden feminine voice and then the sound of my ward door opening had me opening my eyes in surprise. I was glad to still be able to perceive the littlest things. A flowery scent accompanied by the scent of my mate filled my nostrils. There was nothing wrong with my mate coming in with a female but the wrong thing was how thoroughly mixed their scents were. It was as if they had been poured together, thoroughly shaken in a bottle and then mixed to give just one scent. No! This couldn't be! I thought to myself as I managed to force my eyes open just as the footsteps stopped to stand beside me. Opening my eyes, two figures stood towering beside me, both of them with the same look in their eyes. “Dan…?” I weakly called out with the hope that my eyes were playing a trick on me. I wished for the sight I was witnessing not to be true but there wasn't a mistaking of my mate's fingers entangled with that of the female standing beside me. “It's good you're awake. At least, I can have a good conscience even if you die now,” I heard the familiar voice of Dan and my ears buzzed, my brain ringing loudly while trying to understand what was going on. “Oh love, come on. You don't have to be harsh on her, considering how she willingly helped with our pack's improvement…,” laughed the female I was yet to recognise but from the familiarity she oozed off, I could tell she was a pack member. Every word she said was a straight blow to my heart, confirming the one thing I refused to believe was true. “D…Dan, have you been cheating on me?” I asked, refusing to believe the sight in front of me. I couldn't find the strength to sit up and I could only helplessly lay on the bed, waiting for death to take me with this information. “How can you call it cheating when I've never loved you in the first place? You were the perfect tool to grow my pack and to gain their trust. I waited for you to let go of your love for me, giving you no attention but you were just too stubborn,” Dan informed me, the loving look I was used to seeing on his face long gone. In its place, he held no emotion, as if staring at a stranger whom he held no feeling towards. Right then and there, everything started to click in my head. Was the result of this the pain I always felt in my chest on my dying bed? Was his unfaithfulness the cause of the repeated pain in my chest? Tears fell from my face and it was as if my airway was being cut shut while I tried gasping for breath. The more his words sank into my head, the more it became clear to me that there was more to this. After years of being with him, as it turned out, he only saw me as a tool for his pack? So, my plan on seeing how much he loved me had been nothing but futile? “T…this isn't true, right?” I said amidst my sob, staring up at him through my blurry gaze but rather than giving me a proper answer, I watched as Dan shook his head, as if to show his pity for me. “Since you don't want to believe it yet, I have no choice but to show you,” he said right before bringing the female close to him, wrapping the hands he once used to wrap around me, around her waist. With my heart speeding up fast and great pain in my chest, I watched Dan bring his face close to hers, before kissing her like he never kissed me. I didn't know how bitter betrayal tasted on the tongue up until now as Dan rubbed it in my face. So, as it turned out, all of what I've been doing for the past years had been nothing but a waste of my time. I remembered the first time I met Dan, only with the purpose of seeking revenge against him for killing my parents but instead, I chose to be blinded by love, letting my heart do the judgment and chose to let go of the incident. Not only did I abandon my pack to be with him but also disappointed my dead parents whom I didn't seek revenge on. Now, here I was, on my deathbed, with death smiling at me, ready to take me away. “Khaleesi, you should have just taken the hint but you pushed us to no end and have us no choice but to finally poison you,” mocked the female and sighing as if to show how glad she was. My ears rang, my heart thrumming fast as I digested this information. So, the reason I was here on my deathbed was just because I had been poisoned by my mate and the female he was having an affair with? Electricity coursed through me as my anger rose. The familiar creeping of the darkness slowly began to wrap around my heart and I felt my claws starting to extend. The powers I had kept so hidden tried to break through after knowing how much I had been hurt. I bit my lip tightly, forcing back my powers and not willing to allow this fuel my thoughts. No! I refused to break in front of them and give them the satisfaction they wanted to see! I wasn't going to let this betrayal get to my emotions. I let my tears continue to fall and with one last look at the duo, I said “Was I really not enough for you?” In response, Dan only scoffed, rolling his eyes at me before kissing the female beside him once more as if to answer. This was the last push I needed before breaking the bond between us. “I reject you, Dan Fowler, as my mate!” I managed to say amidst the repeated sound of the heart monitor. “I accept your rejection!” The moment Dan said this, I felt pain tearing my chest apart, and my whole body felt as if it was on fire. The only sound in my ears was the one that came from the heart monitor, telling me how chaotic my heart rate had become. I felt death hold my hand, just as the door opened as familiar nurses rushed in to ‘save’ me. How ironic! “Take the defibrillator!” I heard them tell, as the blanket on me was moved aside. With one last glance at Dan, I smiled bitterly, embracing darkness and death, with the sound of machines that signified my death accompanying me. Khaleesi's POV;I didn't need to be told that I was yet again dreaming in the midst of war. Moreover, why do my dreams always have to be wet dreams I knew would never be fulfilled. Was Sebastian sweet? Definitely not. Was Elias sweet? I really didn't know. Was Alasdair sweet? Yes, but then, why was it that my dream wasn't about him? Everytime I closed my eyes to sleep, I was always ending up in Dreamland. Have I been cursed? I didn't know but then, I recalled something and I hoped at this point, whatever it was that was going to happen in my dreams, my mother shouldn't be watching. Now that she had made herself known beside me, she didn't need to keep watching me in my dreams. After several failed attempts of trying to wake myself and leave Dreamland, I gave up on this idea and rather focused on the situation at hand. How did I even fall asleep in the first place? I couldn't understand this as my thoughts were all jammed up. A touch on my bare shoulder was enough to send me to an
Before the coven of witches arrived, the Red moon pack members all arrived safely, with none of the members missing. They were all ushered into Alasdair's home which already contained the Blue moon pack members. "Joanna, you need to stay in. I promise, we would rescue your son and bring him back to you," Sebastian spoke, finally braving up to speak to her."No, stay out of my way. This is my fight," Joanna hissed while he immediately retreated."No, this is our fight!" Mark yelled as he threw his fist into the air."Fine, just be safe," Sebastian gave up stopping her while Joanna ignored his words.Mark was carried outside, behind the flowers where his body was hidden. This was a big risk they had all taken to ensure he'd get back to normal as soon as they spotted Helen, the one who put him in this condition.Althea who had also been locked in Alasdair's house during the previous battle was allowed to join the fight. No one dared to stop her since they all knew her main aim. Alasda
This left Aric with one choice which was to kill every witch he came across as fast as he could.Soon enough, he went unto action.Elias and Stella both noticed Altair who was planning on killing another guard and immediately went to stop him. They both directed the guards to kill the other witches while they fought with Altair who seemed displeased by their actions."Why is no one taking my side?" Altair screamed blindly as he fought with them . He was seconds away from changing to his wolf form and they could see it. "... because you're doing the wrong thing. No one is going to take your side," Stella yelled as she dodged his incoming blow. Her words seemed to further anger Altair as he charged towards her once more, leaving Elias out of it. Midway,he changed into his wolf form while Stella transformed to the creature that once haunted Joanna. Everyone on the battlefield could see Stella change and the moment she did, the witches who were starting to have the upper hand all star
Allegra's pov; "Ooooh!" I stretched on the soft bed beneath me, pleased that I was able to sleep and wake without interruptions. How long had it been since I've had a proper rest? KHALEESI’S POV; Darkness slowly carried me and I willingly let it, too weak to fight against it. Shadows floated above me and I fought for my consciousness, hoping to bring myself out of whatever state this was. Forcing my eyes open, I closed them back immediately, trying to get used to the sudden brightness that almost blinded me. I forced them open again, only to see shadows swimming at the edges of my vision, their hands stretching out to me as if asking me to come. Their hands were spread out towards me, inviting me and immediately, I tried to force my eyes open. “Ah!” With a loud gasp, i sat up on the bed, my eyes flew open, my back cold with sweat and a creepy feeling crawling up my spine. The cold that slowly washed over me was none like no other and the odd scent of burning wood happened to wake my senses. Staring around me, the first thing that came in sight was a small traditional pot with a small fire burning at the middle. Slowly, I let my eyes roam towards the
