"Hi, I've never seen you around. Are you a member of the Rebels?" Violet heard a low voice behind her, which almost made her heart stop.

She was caught off guard while examining the exits that led to the pool of the mansion. Could she escape from there?

Violet turned to look at the young lady that was talking to her. She looked like a teenager, not older than fifteen years.

Why was a girl so young like that in a party full of alcohol and adults? Arden would never allow something like that in his palace, for sure.

"Oh, hello!" Violet tried to sound polite and calm, although her legs were almost giving her away. "Ah… I'm afraid not. I came with a friend of mine, but it seems that we got lost from each other." Violet smiled friendly at the girl.

"That happens to me all the time when I go out with my friend. She always leaves me alone to be with some guy she just met. It's ridiculous!"

Violet raised her brows. The girl looked desperate to talk to someone.

"It sounds to me that she's not a good friend to you at all. Why would she leave you alone to be with someone she just met?"

"I know, right?" the girl smiled, feeling happy that someone had finally paid attention to her.

Violet felt sad for her and wanted to give some advices, but she didn't have enough time left.

She had to find Jack.

"You are pretty. I mean, really pretty. You look like a princess." Violet heard her say, and that caught her attention.

It wasn't like she had never heard a compliment before, but it was hard to listen to someone saying that she was pretty without any reason.

Whenever someone complimented her, it seemed to be because she was the daughter of Arden, the leader of the Diamond Pack.

As if Violet had something good to offer to them just because they were flattering her.

Not that she felt ugly either, but she never saw herself in that way, like a beautiful woman.

She did like her green eyes and her golden hair, but that was it. She always found her lips too thick and the little freckles on her cheeks and nose kind of bothered her.

But it felt great to receive a compliment like that.

"Thank you, you are very kind." she said sincerely. "Are you from the Rebels?" she asked with curiosity.

"Yes, I'm Jack's cousin. I came to visit him on his birthday, since I haven't seen him in a long time. I live in the countryside with my grandma. My name is Gaia."

Violet started to feel sick again.

It was extremely weird to be bonding with that girl, the cousin of the man she was going to kill.

She had to leave there immediately. Or she could give up on the mission before it started.

"You know what, Gaia? It was a pleasure to meet you. But I need to find my friend. We don't want anyone causing trouble at your cousin's party, right? And she can't be alone for too long." Violet said already moving away, getting back inside the house.

Gaia looked a little disappointed, but Violet couldn't allow herself to think about it.

In times like that, she envied Gwen a lot. Violet could barely put her reason before her emotions. She was extremely emotional, while Gwen was very rational.

And Violet suffered a lot with that.

That's why she didn't want to accept the mission on the first place. How could she murder someone that way?

But after she heard the horrendous things that Jack did, she decided to embrace her uncontrollable inner wolf and bring justice to the world.

She wouldn't allow a man that liked to take advantage of others, steal from the poor and rule everything by himself to be alive in the same world as her.

So that was something she had to do. There wasn't a choice to make.

The dagger she had brought was enchanted by the sorceress of the Diamond Pack to kill werewolves. It was a very delicate tool, so Violet had to be careful that it didn't fall into the hands of the wrong person.

She just had to make sure to stick it into his heart.

After long and boring minutes, Violet realized that Jack wasn't there. At least not in the middle of the crowd.

For what she could understand from the conversation she overheard earlier, Jack didn't like parties. That was all for the members of his pack and some other guests.

So maybe he was somewhere calmer at the mansion.

Violet went deeper inside the house, looking for places where he could be hidden. If he wasn't someone that liked parties, he would probably be in a quiet place, away from all the noise.

She went upstairs, looking inside some rooms that had the door open.

There was nothing besides some people getting away from the party to have some private moments with their lovers, or something similar to it.

Violet didn't try to understand.

She was almost giving up when she felt an unfamiliar sensation inside her body.

It was something entirely different from anything she had ever felt before.

It was like her heart started to burn and made some pressure against her chest. Could that be a heart attack?

But she wasn't feeling any pain. On the contrary, it was a warm and pleasant sensation.

And then, she suddenly understood.

As she was coming back to where the celebration was happening, her eyes fell upon a man in the middle of a circle of people, talking and laughing friendly.

He had his back to her, but it was like she had known him her whole life.

Did she? She couldn't see his face.

And with a blink of an eye, like he could sense her eyes scanning him from behind, the man turned his head in her direction.

And Violet almost lost her breath.

He was incredibly handsome. Extremely breathtaking.

His hair was dark like the night and his eyes were sharp and hypnotizing. She couldn't see if his eyes were green or gray, but she didn't care.

His body proportions were perfect, like he was sculptured by God.

Violet didn't know how long she stood there, just looking at him, but a sudden realization made her wake up from her dirty dreams.

She didn't need a specialist to tell her what she already knew.

It couldn't be anything else.

The moment she always tried to avoid, the moment she always feared had finally come.

She found her mate.

And he was coming towards her.

Violet decided to go back to the mansion, since Lance had too much to do in the Diamond Pack, and she wouldn't be any helpful to him. It was true that she had helped all that take place in the first place, but for her it felt kind of an obligation to do the right thing.Violet also saw the walls being destroyed by the guards of the Diamond Pack and a lot of volunteers. She finally felt at peace, knowing that she'd probably never see those bricks being put their again.Lance was the best decision for th

Violet wasn't sure if she had listened correctly."Exiled?" she repeated.Lance nodded, but asked her and Jack to follow him to an empty room next to his office."I didn't want anyone to listen to this yet. I still didn't make the official announcement to the pack. I also need to go throw the coronation ceremony first, so…" Lance started closing the door. "I talked to the council and they wanted Gwen to rot in jail. Some of them even wanted her to be killed for her treason, since she teamed up and even colluded with a fugitive." Violet felt a shivering in her spine."But I suggested that she would be exiled from the Crescent instead, as a form of punishment for what she did. I tried to use the argument that she might had felt coerced to do all of that since Arden was her father, and she was never prepared to be an Alpha after all.""And they accepted just like that?" Violet asked."Of course not. It took me a while to convince them that she doesn't offer us any threat. They agreed to

"They did what?" Violet asked feeling excited and sad at the same time. She was extremely proud and happy for him, after all, it was something Lance was expecting since he was young. It was also the best option for the Diamond Pack to be finally the pack it deserved. Violet was more than sure that Lance would be an amazing leader, without such things as walls, war for power, and forbidding laws in his government. But at the same time, she knew that it could only mean one thing."So, you're coming back to live here, right? You won't stay with us at the mansion anymore." Violet felt Jack's hand grabbing hers as a sign of comforting. She suddenly felt a lump on her throat."I don't know. I… I'm not thinking clearly at the moment, so… I asked them to give an answer tomorrow. I think we should all rest a bit after tonight, right?" Lance answered. She let go of Jack's hand and crossed the hall, eager to give Lance a hug.Wrapping her arms around his neck, Violet gave him an embrace full of
