Chapter 42: Are you mad?

~Liam POV~

I jerk upright, sharp pain in my chest and aches in my body, letting me know it’s time for my pain meds. Before I can even throw the covers off my sweaty body, there is a movement to my right and the light clicks on. The soft yellow tones of my bedside lamp flood the room and Adri is standing in front of me.

With a sweet smile, she holds out a glass of water and my little white pills that offer me relief. I should thank her, and appreciate her willingness to take care of me, but my irrational anger wins.

I snatch the pills from her swallowing them down with a gulp of water before handing them back. Adriana saunters over to the bathroom in nothing but her skimpy shorts and flimsy tank and I settle back in bed, hating this feeling. Uselessness is a new emotion for me and, combined with the overwhelming feeling of loneliness, the combination feels nearly fatal.
