More illumination

Her heart hammered against her chest. If she was previously feeling groggy, all traces of sleep completely disappeared.

The sounds became faint now...

Then she heard heavy breathing that accompanied the sounds of something breaking, something hard and sturdy.

Everything happened in a minute.

After that was utter silence.

Isabella knew that that the danger hadn't passed. It seemed so well to be the calm before a storm. She looked at the opened window at the other side and noticed the glow of the moon streaming in, painting the room white, adding sauce to the fear inside her.

She was right. The silence was the calm before the storm. Loud thuds started from the end of the corridor—at the Alpha's end—and progressed, sounding like footsteps the more it advanced closer.

Isabella, still on the floor, gasped and turned to the door, instinctively moving back with her eyes opened wide and her breath stuck in her throat.

The thuds got to her door and stopped.
