KYRAN.

I was sitting inside a small cot, masked wolves standing guard outside.

A pair of grey eyes was fixated on me. Grand elder Malakai was seated, calmly pouring a cup of hot coffee.

“Why did you want to meet me?” I asked, sitting opposite him. The man placed the coffee kettle down and pushed a cup to me.

The lid seemed to have burned his hands as he rubbed them softly, took a sip before he leaned backwards on the wooden chair.

“I am Malakai, grand elder of the Crescent Zenith pack.”

KYRAN.A frown has been etched on my face since the meeting with Percy. It seems to me that I doubted Veyron and misunderstood him. Percy said that Veyron had been stuck in his laboratory, making medicines, and it was strange because Veyron wasn't the research type. “He doesn't let anyone into the lab with him,” Percy had said, a worried look on his face.To Percy, perhaps, it was strange, but to me, it felt like a normal thing for a lead doctor like him to do. Maybe he wanted to provide some relevance to the pack by creating his own means. I signed and opened the main door. My eyes fell on Arlan’s door first. No doubt he was probably still in there reading as always. On the bright side, it was good for him, but I wouldn't say there was anything bright about starving while reading. He doesn't eat more than three spoonfuls of food for an entire day.I reached for his door to knock, but then I stopped and retracted my hands. I will leave him for now. He wasn't dying anyway. And I

MALAKAI. I'm pacing about my room, eyes fixed on nothing but the space. The smell of sleeping herbs burning at the corner does little to quench the anger that rose every time a second ticked by.Mabel. Mabel. Mabel. How does she get a hint of everything? No matter how much I try to cover up the truth, she would always find a way to uncover it. My nose flared, and I could only plop down on the bed, my hands rubbing against each other. I lifted my head and saw my reflection in the tall mirror before me. Grey hair with faint wrinkles that whispered my age before I said it. It was a sign that everything that I had been planning needed to be executed soon, or else she would remain the leader. The offspring of the late Alpha King— Azariah Zenith. How could I sit still and watch his offspring ruin the pack? A female offspring? Impossible. The pack needs a strong hand, and only my grandson was worthy enough. The door clicked open, and a shadow walked in, his boots echoing on the marbl

MABEL. Evie walked into the study, carrying a pile of documents against her body. I raised a brow as she placed them all on the desk. She wiped dust off her body while my hands froze on the pen I was holding. I stared at the jumbled mess before me. “I told you to escort Elder Malakai out, not bring in ….” I lifted one of the documents. They were all orders that needed my signature and stamp. “...this workload,” I completed. She shrugged, glanced around. The study was dark. Not really pitch black. Just grey, enough to see everything, but not clearly. Guess I just loved everything dark and blue. She walked to the door and clicked on the light button. “I did escort him out, but these are the things you need to sign,” she said as the study burned with a bright yellow hue. I exhaled and rubbed my forehead, reaching for them one after the other to sign. “When do you intend to get back to the lunar serum project?” Evie asked, and I paused. I slowly lifted my gaze to stare at her. He

KYRAN. I left my duty post to win her over, but now she had returned to her pack, and I couldn't follow her. Should I go to her pack and tell her to give me another chance? I mean, I kept asking for a chance when she was here, but she never agreed. Of what difference would it make if I went to her pack to ask the same thing? I guess I knew the difference. I wouldn't even get past the gates, and even if I did, she might take pleasure in torturing me every second I spent there. But it's been two days, and I feel like I was almost dying. My wolf has gone silent, my mind was a mess, and the fact that I'm sitting next to Arlan now, trying to force him to say something, was the worst. He had already grown. He could choose to eat or not, but I wouldn't watch him starve himself. “Eat something, Arlan,” I said for the umpteenth time, but he didn't move from his position. He was engrossed in the book he was reading. Head lowered, flipping when he was done with each page. “She left to

SILAS. The air was strangely cold, sending a chill down my spine. I stood before the elders, a few witnesses seated at the left and right of the large trial hall. In the same hall, I was ordered to release guards for the sake of Darknile's Pack, and now I was called forward for hurting an alpha. My jaws tightened, eyes fixed on the elders seated above. No matter what, as long as there is no material evidence, I wouldn't acknowledge everything thrown at me.“Alpha Silas, you do remember the punishment for hurting an alpha, right?” Elder Poe asked, his hands on his knees as he sat in one of the three large chairs. They stared at me with the same look they gave everybody else. Cold, distant look. They were all dressed in black pants with a long black coat.“I do remember, but whether I hurt an Alpha or not, shouldn't evidence be presented to me?” I asked, my voice boomed through the hall. Everyone was quiet. They were here to witness one of the Alphas stripped of a chance to contend

MABEL. Malakai's face went white, but he recovered quickly. “Alpha …” his voice cracked, face twisting into feigned pain. “I have devoted my life to this pack since I was but a lad. I saw … I witnessed your parents' death, and it broke me.” He sniffled, and I just stared at him, brows raised. My lips subconsciously twitched, but I didn't call him out. “I lived my life praying for some kind of miracle. Then you came; how can I possibly…harbor the intention to harm you?” He placed his hands on his chest, his old, wrinkled hands trembling. Wow! Just wow! An old man with such great deception skills, now, I can't even help but wonder what he was like in his prime. I immediately contorted my face to fit a painful, apologetic face. “I …I'm sorry for doubting your loyalty. I was attacked multiple times in Darknile's pack. It hurts to never see you. Thinking of it now. The men who came to help me must have been your spies, right?” His acting broke for a split second before he recove

Mabel’s POV The moment Kyran picked up the pen and signed those adoption papers for Gena's child, something inside me just died completely, and any tiny bit of hope I had left for this marriage was gone.
