Mabel’s POV

The moment I heard those nurses mention a celebration at the pack house, something inside me snapped completely, and before I realized it, I was already grabbing my coat and rushing out of the hospital room.

“Luna?” the nanny called after me in confusion.

“Stay with her,” I said quickly, my voice trembling with anger and hurt all at once. “Don’t leave my daughter alone.”

The nanny nodded immediately, startled by the look on my face, while I hurried down the hospital hallway trying to ignore the stares following me from the nurses nearby.

My chest felt painfully tight the entire way out of the building, and by the time I reached my car, my hands were already shaking badly around the steering wheel.

A celebration.

They were celebrating while my daughter was lying there struggling to live.

My hands tightening around the steering wheel the entire drive while my thoughts spiraled uncontrollably inside my head.

My daughter was still lying in that hospital bed suffering while Kyran ignored every single one of my calls like we meant absolutely nothing to him.

Maybe there was still some misunderstanding somewhere, maybe once I saw him face to face and explained everything properly, he would finally listen to me.

But even I no longer believed that lie.

The moment I arrived at the pack house, the first thing that greeted me was laughter.

Warm laughter.

The entire mansion glowed brightly under the night lights while servants moved around carrying trays, flowers, expensive wine, and wrapped gifts through the hallway like some grand celebration was taking place.

Music played softly from the dining hall, and for a second I genuinely stood there frozen, near the entrance unable to move properly.

Everything about this made me feel like shit…my daughter was in pain right now.

She could barely breathe properly without those machines beside her bed, yet this place looked alive, peaceful, happy.

One of the servants noticed me standing there and immediately lowered her head awkwardly. “Luna Mabel.”

I barely acknowledged her before walking further inside.

The closer I got to the dining hall, the clearer the voices became until finally I stepped into the large room and the sight in front of me completely shattered something inside my chest.

Kyran sat comfortably at the center of the dining table while Gena beside him. Plates of food covered the long table while colorful decorations were arranged around the room like they were celebrating a birthday instead of a surgery.

And right there beside Gena sat Arlan.

My son.

He was smiling brightly while eating cake, completely relaxed beside the woman who had slowly replaced me in his life.

Arlan laughed loudly at something Gena whispered to him before leaning against her arm comfortably. “Mummy, can I get another one?”

The word hit me so hard my steps slowed instantly.

Mummy.

Not Aunt Gena.

Not Lady Gena.

Mummy?

Gena smiled warmly at him while wiping frosting from the corner of his lips with a napkin.

“You’ve already had enough sugar tonight.”

“But mummy,” he whined playfully, “just one more. Please?”

A few servants nearby laughed softly at his behavior while Kyran looked over with amusement in his eyes, the kind of relaxed expression I had not seen from him in months.

“Just let him have it,” Kyran said casually while cutting another slice himself.

“See?” Arlan grinned proudly before looking back at Gena again. “You’re nicer than my mummy. She always says no to everything.”

Another light round of laughter spread across the table.

Nobody corrected him, nobody even looked uncomfortable.

I stood there quietly watching all of it while something cold settled heavily inside me.

The humiliation burned so deeply I suddenly understood just how alone I truly was in this marriage.

They looked like a family already, complete and comfortable together while I had somehow become the outsider standing at the door.

One of the older maids finally noticed me properly and her face changed immediately. “Luna…”

The room gradually quieted down.

Arlan turned first, and the smile on his face faded slightly when he saw me standing there. Kyran looked up next, his brows furrowing almost immediately.

“Mabel?” he said slowly. “What are you doing here?”

For a second I just stared at him.

What was I doing here?

I almost laughed at the question.

I had spent six months in a hospital watching our daughter suffer while he sat here celebrating another woman’s child, yet somehow I was the strange one for showing up.

“I called you several times,” I said finally muffled out.

Kyran leaned back slightly in his chair with a small sigh escaping him. “I was busy.”

Busy, huh?

I walked closer toward him immediately, ignoring the uncomfortable stares around the room. “Kyran, I really need to speak with you. Alone.”

His brows furrowed slightly. “Can it not wait?”

“No,” I answered quickly. “It’s important.”

For a second I thought he would finally stand up, but instead he reached for his glass calmly before taking a slow sip like this conversation wasn’t urgent at all.

“Mabel,” he said tiredly, “not tonight.”

My chest tightened instantly.

“I need to speak to my mate this moment and alone,” I growled, too angry to care how the words came out. “Just five minutes. That’s all I’m asking.

Every eyes widened, and somehow that only made the humiliation worse because now I looked exactly like what they probably all thought I was.

Jealous.

Emotional.

Creating problems during another woman’s happy moment.

“I said tomorrow,” Kyran replied, firmer this time. “You’re upsetting everyone.”

I stared at him in disbelief.

“Kyran, I have been trying to reach you for hours.”

“And I told you I was occupied,” he answered immediately, his patience visibly thinning now.

“Just a minute to listen to your wife who also have a new baby, you don't have the time, but here you're celebrating another woman? Do you care about your child?”

“Mabel,” he warned quietly. Kyran exhaled heavily before rubbing his forehead briefly like I was giving him a headache.

“You’re overreacting again, you're there for the baby so I should attend to other things” he muttered.

The words hit harder than I expected, as if I was just another difficult responsibility he needed to manage.

Gena suddenly smiled softly at me, her expression carrying that same fake gentleness. “Mabel, maybe you should sit down first. You look exhausted.”

I looked at her for a moment without responding…I wanted to laugh.

I had barely slept in weeks, my daughter was dying slowly in a hospital bed, my Luna authority had just been stripped away without my knowledge, and somehow this woman still had the audacity to sit there acting kind toward me inside my own home.

“Gena, you should know your place, don't give me that fox look.” I replied sharply.

Kyran finally stood up then, and for one tiny second relief flooded my chest because I thought maybe he would finally pull me aside to talk properly.

Instead he looked toward the servants nearby. “Continue setting everything up.”

Then he turned back toward me calmly.

“Mabel, stop making a scene and just join the celebration. Gena’s daughter just survived surgery. Tonight should be peaceful.”

I stared at him like I no longer recognized the man standing in front of me.

Before I could say another word, one of the elders approached Kyran holding several documents carefully in his hands.

“Alpha, these are the authorization papers,” the elder announced respectfully.

“Once signed, the child will officially be recognized under the Alpha bloodline.”

I froze immediately.

My eyes dropped toward the papers in the elder’s hands.

Gena looked emotional almost instantly, lowering her gaze while tightening her hold on her daughter carefully. “Kyran… you really don’t have to rush this.”

“It’s already decided,” Kyran replied calmly.

Then right in front of me, without hesitation, he picked up the pen and signed the papers.

Was he seriously making Gena's child a qualified Alpha’s family member? Indirectly his own child without his Luna's opinion?

Mabel’s POV The moment Kyran picked up the pen and signed those adoption papers for Gena's child, something inside me just died completely, and any tiny bit of hope I had left for this marriage was gone. I didn't even feel like crying anymore, just went totally cold as I watched him hand the documents back to the elder without even looking at me.I turned around without saying a single word to anyone in that room, walked straight out to my car in the parking lot, and grabbed the envelope with the divorce papers I had already filled out nights ago at the hospital.I had decided if Kyran continued to not bother about our daughter, I would end this suffocating relationship where the only thing I got was disregard and dishonor from the pack.I walked right back into the hall with the papers in my hand, ignoring how everyone stopped talking the second the door opened, and threw the whole stack right at Kyran's feet.Kyran looked at the envelope and threw his gaze back to me.“Are you don

  • The Alpha's Regret    Chapter 2

Mabel’s POV“Kyran, how could you do this to your own child?” I gritted out, my fingers tightening around the phone until my knuckles turned pale. But no matter how angry or heartbroken I felt right now, I refused to let his foolishness cost my daughter her life. The pack had always hated me since they wanted Gena as their Luna instead of me, so despite carrying the title for five years, I barely played that role openly and Kyran had never once cared enough to correct the disrespect. Still, a Luna and her Alpha were equal in status as mates, and in situations where an Alpha was unavailable, the Luna had the authority to occupy his office and make decisions in his place.I turned toward my daughter again, and my chest tightened painfully at the sight of her tiny body lying weakly against the hospital bed. Her breathing was uneven again, and even while asleep, she looked uncomfortable, her little brows furrowed like she could still feel the pain moving through her body. I couldn’t l

Mabel’s POVMy child’s cry echoed in the hospital room, and she had been in this condition for the past six months, living between machines, injections, and restless nights that never seemed to end, with just one month left. The doctors said the only thing that could save her would be a heart surgery.Yet my husband Kyran Zendaro, the Alpha of Darknile Pack, was not even here, instead he was busy trying to make up for what he always called his past mistake of marrying me instead of his first love, Gena. The night we were found to be fated mates, Kyran had been drunk during a pack event, he marked me, sealing the bond between us through mating before I even understood what it meant, and I had no idea I was already carrying his child then. Being adopted by the lowest ranking family in the pack meant I didn’t grow up with the training other she-wolves had.I didn’t understand politics, status, or how deeply a mate bond could change a person’s life, so when I finally gave birth to our s
