LOGINMorgan's POV
My parents never succeeded in hiding their feelings towards me. Or maybe they never cared about how I would feel about it.
My mother was always the first person to throw silent jabs on my weight. She had set up a scale that she expected me to use and weigh myself every morning so I could see how much of a failure I truly was.
In a way, that mindset did work. I spent a lot of time staring at the scale, watching the numbers go up whole my heart beat plummeted.
Even now as I stood in front of the pack doors, knowing that they were all in the having dinner based on the lovely chatter that I could hear leaving the room, I still somehow could not bring myself to step in.
My heart heaved and I wiped what remained of the tears in my eyes.
This was supposed to be a new beginning for me. No tears.
Before I could convince myself otherwise, I pushed open the door, stepping into the pack house, my eyes instantly landing on the dining hall where they were all gathered.
The room fell silent the minute I got in, their eyes turning to stare at me in shock, my mum rummaging through my body with those condescending eyes of hers first before she let out a small nervous laughter.
" Oh Morgan....you are back."
It was a cold welcome. No, I had not expected everyone to be ecstatic about seeing me return, but judging from the fact that the last time they had seen their first twin daughter was two years ago, I was expecting more....joy.
" Yes mum....I'm sorry I interrupted dinner. I would have used the back door but it was sealed shut". I said, trying to hide my tears from seeping into my voice.
That was always the rule in my house..I had to always use the back door. My mum has argued that I was " unsightly"
" I don't want my guests seated and you just barge in with that....size of yours. It does not speak well of my name to have an overweight daughter! Your sister on the other hand..."
She had always ended that remark in that perfect spot, reminding me that my twin sister, Amara was the perfect definition of beauty.
Slender arms, beautiful chin and a body that would cause anyone to drool.
" Oh nonsense. You are the wife of Alpha Damien now. And a prestigious Alpha at that. You don't need to worry about following the back door" my mum said.
My dad had not even bothered to get up or even acknowledge the fact that I was standing in front of him.
No surprise there.
Amara got up, fake excitement in her eyes as she gave me a small awkward side hug.
" Oh it's so good to see you! I can see that Alpha Damien has been feeding you well. You have definitely doubled in size since the last time we met.
It's a good....sign I guess"
The silent jab hit me like a knife as I tried to smile even though I could see some curious pack members already snickering.
" Thank you." I said curtly.
I wanted all of this to be over so I can head into my room and let out the tears I have been holding in for so long.
" So when are you going back?" My mum asked.
I scratched my head slowly.
" About that....I am no longer married to him. I have decided that he is just no good for me. He cheats on me and he hits me. I am not respected in that pack and I have finally decided to call the marriage quits"
The words came out quickly like they were scalding the tip of my tongue.
My heart was still racing as I finally took in a breath, not letting my eyes wander again as I stared at the confused expression on my mum's face.
Then she broke into a laughter.
" Oh Morgan! You have always been funny. Such a good joke! Talking about divorcing a whole alpha like he is a common man!"
I watched her try to force the laughter out, her eyes still searching mine desperately like she had expected me to burst into laughter too but when I didn't, her face turned serious back.
" Are you insane?! Are you out of your mind? What the hell do you mean you divorced him? You? Divorce a man as handsome and rich as him? What do you even have going on in your head"
It was a different kind of hurt when even your own mother refused to acknowledge your pain.
I had not expected anything less, but it did not stop it from hurting.
" Mum....I'm your child. I just told you he hits me!" I let out.
She scoffed.
" So what if he does? I heard you well the first time! He cheats on you and you decide to break up with him? Don't you know it's because he can't stand you? Look at yourself! No man wants that!
I tried to tell you but you didn't listen. But now you have a good man and you divorce him?!"
Amara sighed loudly, exaggerated as she shook her head at me.
" I don't know about this sister....this feels like you overreacting to me. That Alpha really is a good man. And you got so lucky"
I gulped, trying to swallow my hurt.
" Amara ...the same man you had sex with the last time you visited my pack? You call him a good man? Or you think I would not find out about it?"
Her eyes widened.
"How could you..."
" what if she did?! Poor man was probably starving for the real body of a woman. Don't you dare slut shame my daughter!"
" I am your daughter too" I said, my voice breaking.
My hands that gripped the suitcase tightly now loosened.
I could not stand this. Why did this have to happen to me?
" I wish you weren't. Everyday, I hate that I had to birth you. But what can I do? At least I get a perfect flower like Amara out of this. You will be going back to him"
I shook my head, tears rolling down my eyes in waves.
" No I won't mum! He hurts me!"
" Fine then. It's either that or you stay in this pack, and be demoted to the position of an omega, a maid and a runt.”
Caspian's POVI knew this was a very slippery pit that I was letting myself slide into but I just could not stop myself.I watched her eyes glower with surprise and then confusion as she took another step backwards, greatly displeasing my wolf but I did not say anything." I don't seem to catch your drift" she finally said.I did not understand what I was thinking either. My head has been a jumble of emotions ever since the whole solstice happened and even though I had tried to downplay the effect she had on me, it was now clear to me that Caitlyn and I bond did not even come close to this."What im trying to say is...maybe we can work something out. The both of us can decide to have something more than what we have now"She scoffed."Oh. You mean sex..you want to use me for sex now?"Her tone was sharp. Sharper than I had known her for and that was when I realized the words did not come out right."No no...not that. Not in that sense."My wolf purred, I stopped.A whole Alpha like my
Morgan's POV I noticed the first change when I went to get a clean cloth to mob the floors. It was subtle at first, not really obvious if you were not looking for it, but it was there."Have you had something to eat yet? You should get something to eat first before you start working. It can make you sick if you skip meals like that" the head chef had said.I blinked wildly, turning to look at her in surprise and maybe a bit of fear." What?" She hummed, casting me one short embarrassed look before turning back to the pot of beef soup she was making."Grab a piece of bread from the counter and bring a plate to take a bit of soup. This is for dinner late tonight but breakfast is all gone so you can have this first"I still refused to believe that she was talking to me. It felt almost surreal to imagine that the woman that hated my guts and would rather see me perish and shrivel into dust was now telling me what to eat?Impossible.Regardless, I followed her instructions, bringing over
Amara's POV Morgan that bitch!!!She has finally managed to win everyone to her side, even Moreno the queen of war?!How the hell did she even do that? The door opened abruptly and I went back to the pitiful mood I was supposed to be embodying, my heat pounding in my chest." Have you packed up your things?" He asked, barely noticing me.I sniffled, drawing closer to him in the hopes that it would awaken something in him, anything." Caspian. Please, our wedding was supposed to be today and I acknowledge my faults. I know it was very wrong for me to do all that but please Caspian. Please let's talk about it".He let out a low scoff before pushing me off of him like I was mere trash. My butt hit the floor hard and a searing pain spread through my limbs.A whimper left my mouth, adding further to the pitiful state that I wanted him to take pity on but for some reasons, it just wasn't working on him.I kept my frustration at bay as I started crying, wailing until he yelled at me to stop
Morgan's POV The dungeon was just as I had expected. Cold with that sense of dread that crawled through the skin making it unable to even close your eyes for a second. The air smelt like decaying corpses and feaces, the occasional groans I got from a cell two steps away telling me that this dungeon still has some forgotten occupants. At first, I did not seat. There was no where to sit except I wanted to seat next to the venomous rats and the feaces of the past occupants that now probably made up the corpses. But eventualiy, fatigue won and I found myself sitting on the dirty ground with that beautiful red dress I had promised myself to wash and keep for the memory.I did not know when the tears started to fall, slowly at first until I was weeping, sobbing so hard that my whole body felt like lead, heavy and unmoving." First time being in a cell?" A voice called.I stopped, perking up as I listened. It was coming from the far right corner of the dungeon, close to me but I could not r
Caspian's POVWhen the second vase came crashing down, I knew I was losing it.My wolf growled in my head, refusing to rest until everything was leveled to the ground, the entire room that had once been a sort of succor to me now feeling like a prison. How the hell could I even bear to live like this?!" My king, you have to calm down and we can find a way to get to the bottom of this" callum, who has been standing in a corner of the room, watching the whole scene unfold slowly said.My gaze slowly turned to him, a deep seated feeling of helplessness weighing in my chest as I plopped onto the bed." You think she did it too don't you?" I finally asked. He shrugged." She seems to be the kind to do something like that. She has the motive, she had the time, and she is not very liked by the pack. It seems like a perfect revenge plot"I nodded.I knew everyone thought she did it. That was why I allowed her to be taken to the dungeon because it felt like when it came to her, my sense of ju
Morgan's POV Moreno did not wait for any more excuses as she pushed me out into the hall, her eyes still smiling proudly at her work." Get going. I have to touch up my make up a little too but I will come find you the minute I leave here"My heart started that irratic pounding all over again. I looked too different to just waltz in alone. I knew people would stare and talk, I did not have the courage to do that alone. But still, deciding maybe I could try to face my fears, I walked through the hallways, heading for the ball. The closer I got, the more the chitter and chatter became until I could fully hear the voices and the music that slowly wafted into the air. That was when that scent filled my nostrils.I knew what it was before my body reacted to it violently, turning back around to find the source. It was stronger than regular days and unlike the regular days that my wolf remained a little dormant, she was going wild.I came face to face with Caspian when I turned back, our ey
