LOGINMorgan's POV
I stayed.
" Those plates won't wash themselves! Why the hell are you dragging your fat body all over the place without doing anything tangible?" The cook's voice yelled as I dropped the basket of laundry I was supposed to go dry out in the sun.
Beads of sweat rolled down my face as I took in another heavy breath, feeling the air choking the very words from my lips as i let out another sigh.
" I thought you asked me to..." I was starting to say but she sneered at me, her eyes filled with irritation.
" Just wash the dishes. Amara's Alpha will be here soon and we have not even finished the preparation. You really are useless! Or are you trying to sabotage her marriage plans too?"
I opened my mouth to talk, to remind this woman of my status in the pack but then I recalled it.
I was just a runt. Everyone has a say at the table except me.
So I swallowed my words and faced the plates.
Amara's mate has been the talk of the whole pack since I arrived last week.
Amara herself could not get him out of her lips.
I knew him. Alpha Caspian, the one evil dreads.
He was the kind of Alpha that had long tales of doom written about him, his successes all sang like a victory song every time he stepped into a room.
Amara was by far lucky.
" He is here! Where the hell is the food?!" Amara's voice yelled as she stormed the kitchen.
I noticed that crease on her brows as she turned to look at me with undiluted hatred.
" My dear baby, don't you worry. Just go greet him and leave everything to me. I will take care of it" my mum said, her presence announced by her shoes as she walked in through the backdoor, a bunch of fruits arranged beautifully on a tray in her hands.
Amara sighed, pointing at me like her life was falling to shambles because of my presence.
" Mum do you think I am being too needy? Why is Morgan staring at me like I'm being too needy? I just want everything to be perfect for the man I will be getting married to"
Those words caused my mother's fury and frustration to turn to me.
Her eyes blazed as she walked over to where I stood, doing the dishes.
" You know you have always been selfish! If it was Amara in your place, she would do everything to make sure your meeting goes fine.
Yet you can't even help her get the food ready or pick out her clothes"
I gritted my teeth, the soap suds bubbling in my hold as I stared at her.
" But the maids were already doing that." I tried to defend myself but my mum just scoffed.
" So what? Can't you help out? Pull your big body around and get something done."
By now, Amara has sauntered out of the kitchen, still rambling about how her make up would get wrinkled because of me.
I knew this game that we always played since we were little. The one that involved her messing up and blaming me because I was never given a chance to speak.
I nodded solemnly, ignoring the laughter of the servants behind me and choosing to stare fixedly at the bubbling water in front of me.
The kitchen suddenly felt colder, my heart numb to all the time words already, my body just wanting reprieve.
" You can start by leaving these dishes and going to serve Alpha Caspian these fruits. Also don't make eye contact with him, try to be as unnoticeable as possible. Okay?"
I gulped.
This was not what I planned for today. I had planned to finish all the work and recoil back into the small cubicle my mother had asked me to sleep in daily.
I did not want to see Alpha Caspian, I did not want to be anywhere near either of them when the wedding vows were being said.
But even though I had my reservations, I still washed my hands clean, collecting the fruit tray from her.
The hall way was long, but it offered temporary reprieve from the kitchen to table where the Alpha sat.
The scent first hit me the minute I stepped out of the kitchen and Into the living area.
It was almost intoxicating, the kind of scent that could drive my wolf crazy and cause her to howl in my head, pacing around anxiously as I tried to steady myself after the dizzying effect that scent had on me.
The farther I walked, the more it grew, stronger and stronger until I was not moving on my own will but magnetically pulled by that mysterious scent.
My body tensed as I stepped into the foyer where my father sat with Alpha Caspian, his own eyes wandering around wildly until they finally landed on mine.
The fruit tray in my hands felt lighter all of a sudden and my father's fake laughter and words fell into background noise.
In that very short moment, we were the only two people that existed.
I gulped, my wolf helping me spell it out before I could allow myself admit it.
" Mate!" She yelled excitedly.
Oh no.
Morgan's POVI quickly realized just how different this pack was from the ones I was used to. It was not only the structure or that blissful feeling in the air, it was also the quiet discipline that everyone seemed to follow without being forced to.And more often than not, it was the friendliness. The first woman I met was an angel. I had gotten so used to people being irritated when they saw me, I somehow made it my whole personality without realizing it. But this woman....She took one look at me, watching me fidget with the map that the servant had thrust into my hands, beaming with smiles as she approached me." You must be new here" she said.I nodded, smiling softly." Yes ma'am, I just came with Alpha Caspian this evening"I stared back at the map, trying to make a sense of it and failing horribly. The pack was insanely huge. It needed a map just to locate places like the Alpha office and the dining hall.I expected her pleasantries to end there but it didn't.She hummed." O
Caspian's POVDerek did not like her. I could tell from the way he scrunched up his nose from the minute she got out of the car, his eyes trailing over hers slowly like she was a bad piece of meat." Get her a room at the quarters and tell the servants to move her things in" i said to the servant that has come to collect my brief case.Just like Derek, he scrunched up his nose but did not say a word, motioning at her to come as he picked up her luggage." Alpha Caspian..." She called just as I turned to leave." Yes?"She swallowed." Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you"I hummed.Maybe it was not such a bad thing to do. That little vote of thanks was enough to mask all the troubles I felt in a few minutes, leaving me smiling from ear to ear." We will meet tomorrow to discuss further things, but for now, you should go stay in your room..the servants will get you something to eat and put you through if you need anything"With that said, I pretended
Caspian's POVMy wolf was relentless. I was not given single minute of peace in my being as it clawed at me to do something. At first, I refused to acknowledge it, keeping a straight face and staring into the distance, away from the sheer embarrassment that this stupid man was putting her through. The more his words turned harsher, the harder I gritted my teeth.I should not interfere. After all, she is not the one I came for. Then he hit her. The metallic smell of blood hit my nose and I heard her wolf howl for mine, a bond that I did not even know both of them had managed to form in the few minutes we kissed. That was it. I could not bear it anymore." That's enough!" I finally let out.The entire room went cold. Even her father that had been in a corner smirking slightly had the smirk wiped off his face almost immediately. He sputtered and cleared his throat, trying to form words." Alpha Caspian. This must be so upsetting for you to watch. I know you hate mingling with things lik
Morgan's POVThere was nothing left of my dignity in this pack. I had lost it all from the moment I was born fat and ugly.I felt the urge to die, to climb up the tallest mountain and jump down into certain death but I did not trust myself enough to do it. So I went with the more embarrassing option, begging Brian. He was seated very closely to Alpha Caspian when I walked in, his eyes lighting up with mischief as he stared at me.Alpha Caspian and I stared at each other for a brief second before he looked away, as though embarrassed to let people see that brief exchange." Oh here she is....finally! I was beginning to think you would never come!" Amara yelled from her spot in alpha caspian's arms, cuddled up so close to him like he was the only life line she had.In opposite seats sat my parents, their own eyes scrutinizing me too with irritation. My hands quivered and I prayed for the ground to open and swallow me.This was a humiliation ritual, the kind that could soothe the growing
Morgan's POVMy first kiss was when I was fifteen. It has come later than the other girls who had their first kiss very early into their lives.I remembered how desolate I had felt, standing in front of the other girls and watching them recount these memories while I stood there with my chubby body, wanting to hide away from the eyes of everyone. It was not until fifteen that I got my first "pity" kiss. A boy had been dared to kiss me and after our lips crashed in youthful exuberance, he had rushed to clean off his lips like he could contact leprosy from just my lips."I'm never kissing a fat bitch again!" He had howled as he rushed back to the group of boys that stood in a corner, pointing and laughing.Somehow, that single sentence was enough to dismiss the butterflies that had gathered in my stomach from my first kiss replacing me instead with dread. After that unruly boy was Brian. Not enough experience but I still knew that a kiss should not feel so..... energetically charged.Ou
Caspian's POVI felt the bile rise in my throat as I listened to him talk. It was obvious that he had already planned this entire proposed speech of how great his pack was before my arrival.Every word sounded like a bragging right for him, his laughter tickling the anger in my chest as I tried to keep my emotions at bay. This was all the fault of Derek. I wonder why I allowed him convince me that this family would be worth marrying into.Just a few minutes in and I was already feeling irked."I would also think that it would be a great thing for us to collaborate once in a while you know? Especially in the aspect of the communication sector among alphas and...."He was still rambling on when that scent hit my nose. At first it was almost unnoticeable, just that gentle whiff that caused my wolf to stand at high alert, my usually calm wolf twitching in my chest as its pacing grew faster. What was that scent?I turned around to look, tuning out the Alpha that was now talking about how h
