Zaiden's POV

Cole…

“If anyone would have told me my Beta would become the pack snitch, I wouldn't have believed you know." I saw his eyes widen. I could tell that colour drained from his face.

“Tell me I didn’t just see what I saw,” I growled.

Cole’s face hardened, but his voice was smooth. Too smooth. “Alpha, it isn’t what it looks like….”

“Don’t.” My snarl cut him off, sharp as a blade. “Don’t you dare lie to me.”

“You know to even think I trusted our bond more than so much that I couldn't point out what my mate actually said made it more unbelievable."

I immediately mindlinked the warriors to come to the exact spot cause I would need help taking him to the dungeon I smirked as if noticing my thoughts he charged at me I was able to dodge as fast as possible

He was fast, his claws came out, teeth bared but I was faster. I twisted aside, his swipe cutting through empty air. The ground split where his strike landed, dust exploding upward.

Before he could reset, I drove my elbow into his ribs.

“You’re too slow,” I taunted, circling him, my wolf growling just beneath my skin.

He snarled and lunged again, this time faster, his movements more deliberate. He spun with a backhanded strike that nearly took my head off. I ducked low, sweeping his legs out from under him.

He hit the ground hard, but rolled, springing back up with wolfish fury. His eyes gleamed. “You can’t stop me.”

“Watch me.”

I lunged first this time, my fist cracking against his jaw, sending him staggering. He instantly retaliated, claws raking across my shoulder. Pain flared hot, but I didn’t slow.

We collided again, a blur of fists, claws, and snarls. Every strike was met with another, every dodge answered with a counter. My wolf surged, urging me to finish it, to tear him down.

He came in low, aiming for my gut, but I caught his wrist, spun him, and slammed him face-first into the dirt. My knee pressed into his spine, claws poised at his neck.

He froze, chest heaving.

For a moment, only silence stretched between us, broken by our ragged breaths. Then bloodied lips curling he smirked.

“You still don’t see it, do you?”

“I do actually…” I said as I pressed more into his spine.

“I guess nobody told you about messing with the Alpha "Zaiden” I said as I chuckled but you know what I'm going to make you pay dearly for it.

Immediately I sensed my warriors marching through the place.

" Alpha?.” I heard Caleb, my Gamma calling.

Karen’s POV

I sat in the small room I’d claimed for myself, far from Zaiden’s chamber.

I could still hear his words in my head. Pathetic. Coward. Not bold enough to be his Luna.

My fists clenched at my sides. The worst part wasn’t his anger it was that part of me believed him. That maybe he was right, that maybe I was just dragging him down.

I paced the room, back and forth, my wolf restless beneath my skin. She hated this distance. She clawed at me, demanding we go back to him. But I can't not after what he said the mate bond actually has a way of worsening issues. I couldn’t face him not after the way he looked at me.

I moved to the window, peering out into the night. The training grounds were empty, patrols stretched thin across the borders. The packhouse itself was unusually quiet, but very tense. I could see warriors marching out.

Whispers trailed through the corridors beyond my door. Snatches of voices nervous, uncertain.

“…the Alpha’s at the borderline…”

I pressed my back against the wall, heart hammering against my chest. Borderline?

My wolf growled low, unsettled. Whatever was happening out there, it was shifting everything. I didn’t know how, but I felt it in my bones.

And then, just as I closed my eyes, the bond between us flared hot searing with anger, fury, and something else.

Zaiden.

Something was happening to him.

I grabbed my cloak, but stopped halfway to the door. No. Not this time. I wouldn’t throw myself into his battles. Not when he’d made it clear I wasn’t ready, not when every step closer just made him push me further away.

Still, the ache of the bond wouldn’t fade. My wolf clawed harder, whispering, He needs you. He always needs you.

But I stayed rooted, trembling in the silence. I felt like I really hated the matebond this time, it badly wanted to make me look “pathetic" as Zaiden would say.

Until the moment I felt it like a shiver tearing through my soul. I felt the bond with the pack snap like someone had been torn out of it.

Karen’s POV"Don't make this worse than it is,Karen, we are in the middle of a serious matter and all you could think of was running away. Come on, don't make yourself look more pathetic," Zaiden’s voice was sharp, like claws against stone. "You are a soon-to-be Luna. Running away from your responsibilities would be cowardice. How are you supposed to take care of the pack if you can’t take care of your fear? I’m supposed to be expecting a bold woman as my Luna."The words burned. Each one slicing deeper until my wolf growled inside me, furious, restless.I straightened, fists trembling at my sides. “You think I don’t know what’s expected of me? You think I haven’t fought every single day just to breathe in this place? I never asked for this bond, Zaiden. I never asked to be dragged into your wars and your pack’s hatred.”His golden eyes blazed, but I didn’t let him speak.“You want a bold Luna? Then maybe you should’ve chosen differently. Maybe that’s why the Moon Goddess gave me a ma

Zaiden’s POVThe council hall still smelled of blood and smoke, but it wasn’t the rogues that lingered in my mind. It was her words.“Maybe I was a mistake.”They cut deeper than any blade. And when I reached for her, when I tried to hold her, she pulled away. Since then, she’d avoided me at every turn. When I passed her in the corridors, her eyes slid past me like I wasn’t there. My wolf hated it—hated that she was slipping further, hated that I’d let my temper wound her. But pride kept me silent. If she wanted distance, I would give it. For now.Instead, I drowned myself in duty. Strategy, patrols, maps spread across the war table. Anything but the ache in my chest.Cole stood at my side as always, voice steady, presence familiar. He had been my right hand through every battle. If I let myself waver, even for a second, I would question the unthinkable. But I couldn’t. Not yet.So I set a trap. Another patrol, another false route whispered to only a select few. The eastern caves had

Zaiden’s POVThe council hall reeked of smoke and blood. My warriors stood tense in a circle, their eyes flicking between me, the bound rogue at the center, and my Beta Cole.I stalked closer to the prisoner. “Who sent you?”The wolf spat blood onto the floor but his voice trembled. “I was only a messenger.”“Messenger for who?” My growl shook the rafters. His cracked lips twisted. “Your Beta promised us more than this.”The words hit like a blade. Gasps broke out. My wolves shifted uncomfortably, eyes darting toward Cole.Cole bristled instantly, stepping forward. “That’s a lie!” His voice thundered. “You think I’d betray you, Alpha? I’ve stood by you through every battle, every scar! He’s throwing my name to save his worthless hide.”Murmurs rose. Doubt crept like smoke. The rogue smirked faintly. “Believe what you want. Fear the one who hides in your shadow.”I wanted to rip his throat out, yet something in his tone unsettled me.Before I could speak again, Karen’s voice slid into

  • The Alpha's Rejection    Chapter 16

Zaiden’s POVThe footsteps of the warriors could be heard, the metallic scent of weapons mixing with pine and damp earth. My warriors fanned out in silence, trained, sharp-eyed.But still, my wolf prowled inside me, uneasy. Something wasn’t right.I cast a glance at Cole, who padded beside me. His eyes burned with the same restless anger mine did. Or maybe too much of it.“We shouldn’t waste time on bait patrols,” he muttered, low enough only I could hear. “We should strike first.”I cut him a look. “We’ll strike when we know where to aim. Until then, we flush the snake out.”His jaw ticked, but he nodded.Behind us, Gamma Rowan jogged closer. “Alpha, are we certain about this ridge? It’s usually quiet.”“That’s the point,” I said flatly. “If the rogues show, we’ll know someone fed them the plan.”The patrol continued. The forest was heavy with shadows, every sound amplified. An owl screeched. Branches rustled. My wolf pressed forward, hackles high.“Howl!” one of the guards shouted.

  • The Alpha's Rejection    Chapter 15

Zaiden’s POVI stood at the head of the table, pacing. My wolf clawed beneath my skin, restless, snarling to be let loose. But this wasn’t a battle of claws and fangs. This was a hunt and the prey was hiding among us.Cole sat stiffly at my right, shoulders tense, eyes following me as I moved. Across from him, my top warriors shifted uneasily, the scrape of chairs on stone echoing like growls. None of them dared speak first. Good. Let them stew in the weight of my silence. Finally, I stopped pacing and leaned forward, planting my hands on the table. My claws half-shifted, biting into the wood.“No one,” I said, my voice low, sharp as a blade. “No one was supposed to know about her. Not her even being my Luna”A ripple went through the room. One of the warriors swallowed hard, the sound loud in the silence.“And yet,” I continued, gaze sweeping the chamber, “the rogues came for her. They knew what even most of you did not.”I let the weight of the truth sink in. My wolf pressed against
