Pearl At exactly 5pm, I marched down to the Administrative block and made my way to Mrs Hopkins office. "Pearl Shelby…" Mrs Hopkins called my name richly whilst one of the men who worked with her directed me to a seat. I waited impatiently while she attended to a few students who had come before me. When it was my turn I jumped from my seat and walked to her desk. "Ma'am… I'm leaving! I am leaving this citadel! I don't belong here, and you know it!" I gritted. Mrs Hopkins relaxed in her chair and swiveled from side to side as she stared at me in wonderment. "Mrs Hopkins, not ma'am!" she finally said and I scoffed. "Not like it makes any difference… all I…" "Insubordination! Correct yourself or get out of here!" A voice yelled behind me, it was one of Mrs Hopkins' men. Immediately, I was grabbed from behind and lifted off my feet. "Let me go!" I yelled and tried to struggle free. Mrs Hopkins smirked. She raised a finger to stop the man and he put me down. "I don't fit in her
PearlMy body became weightless and I shot through the air. I yelled and struggled to regain my balance but it was all useless."Hardin!" I shrieked but no one responded. My body continued to dive through the air. I lost sense of time and I couldn't tell how long I spent in the air, but when my feet landed back on the ground, I was in the woods.I fidgeted and looked around. At first, I thought it was the woods where I had found myself when I had tried to escape, but at a closer look, I realized that it wasn't.Unlike the dark woods, tiny bulbs illuminated the area. There were potted plants and flowers growing at strategic positions. The whole set up looked like a greenhouse within the woods."Is this possibly another side of the dark woods?" I muttered as I hauled myself to a corner. Identifying my location isn't the issue here, the big deal is, what the heck happened to me? I was at the football court, how did I get here?"Do not worry, this isn't the illusionary woods that you fo
HardinIt was lunch break. I finished up my lunch and took a stroll before the break elapsed. My mind was still preoccupied. I was embittered and angry, I couldn't believe Pearl harbored such thoughts against me. I felt used and stupid for sticking to her and helping her.I haven't seen her today and I don't bloody care."Did you hear the news?" Jayden's voice sounded from a distance. I turned around and saw him running towards me. He tried to catch his breath and spoke incoherently."What news is so urgent?" I asked."It's Pearl…""Stop! Shit! I don't want to hear anything about her! Fuck!""Common! Common! Hardin! This is serious! She…""I said stop it! I yelled and gripped his neck tightly. He struggled free from my hold and yelled into my face, "I don't seem to understand you!" Holding my hand firmly in his, he dragged me towards the tarred road that led down to the infirmary.A shuttle was approaching from another end. It stopped in front of the infirmary where a stretcher was a
HardinI didn't visit the infirmary throughout the day and now it was my loss as I couldn't fall asleep. I tossed from one side of the bed to the other thinking about Pearl. I still haven't forgiven her but I feel worse knowing that her life was endangered.Jayden, whom I had sent to get the latest news hasn't returned. Although, I did not know the full gist, I couldn't help but think that Evelyn was behind it all.I got out of the bed and made my way out of the dorm. It was full moon and Stan wagged his tail at the sight. I knew he wanted to come out. I scrowled and instantly, he knew it was a no. He whimpered and lay low.Just as I stepped out, I met Jayden who was just returning. He looked disturb and I wondered what the news was all about. He shook his head as he approached me. "I couldn't see her. No one is allowed in and there is no information about her," Jayden said."Evelyn!" I gritted and Jayden flinched."Evelyn? What about her? Where the hell are you going?" He asked as I
Hardin Hopinks Citadel is largely dominated by large empty spaces and woods. This is as a result of the events, and supernatural activities that take place in the school. One of such woods is Denim woods where Pearl was found unconscious. It is the major greenhouse in the school. According to the school rules, werewolves can shift into their wolves at any given time, but not indiscriminately. There are spaces specified for such purposes. One of such spaces is the Cat Field where I had shifted some days ago. It is an open space surrounded by high walls. It qualifies as the werewolves playground and it is one of the fields where we can wolf out in our numbers. At maximum, it can hold about 20 werewolves at a time. But because of the enclosure and size, it is not usually used for group shifting. It's Sunday, the show-day in Hopkins Citadel and unlike the faculty display that took place last week Sunday, today each faculty is having her display discreetly. The big cat instructor,
HardinDust and dirt filled the air as Eve, Evelyn's wolf, raced through the field at a mad speed. Her fangs were deeply buried àround a human's wrist and she dragged a human body in the dirt as she ran.Pearl! My heart skipped a beat as I identified the body. Blood seeped furiously from her wrist, running down the whole length of her arm as she was dragged about."Pearl!!!" I screamed, horrified. At the sound of my voice which rang in Evelyn's head, she became wilder. Leaping through the air with Pearl's body dangling beside her, she shook her powerful jaws from side to side.Pearl's body dangled in the air like wool. Loud and painful moans tore out of her mouth as she tried to struggle free.Anger rocked my body and I shook in rage, bursting into full speed. I leapt up, catching Eve in the air. I threw my body against her with full force and dug my fangs into her neck. She shrieked in pain but she did not let go of Pearl. Swinging her head, she slammed Pearl hard on the floor as
PearlWhen I woke up, I wasn't in the cave. I was in a well lit room and I felt something comfy beneath me, it was a bed. Looking around, the room seemed familiar and soon I realized that I was in the infirmary."Pearl? How do you feel now? You slept for so long." A familiar voice said. Hardin's face came into view. He was hovering over me and looking intently at me."Why am I in the infirmary? You should have brought me here in the first place," I said coldly, looking away from him.He remained silent and said nothing. Slowly, he stood erect and turned around, turning his back against me."I guess I made the wrong call... If you want to stay away from me, ensure you stay safe so that I can detest you," he gritted out and made his way towards the door.My heart squeezed in pain as I watched him leave. I don't know if it was because I hurt him again or because I didn't want to be alone."Hardin! Don't go," I called out hoarsely and he halted. Without looking back, he turned the knob
Mrs Hopkins I swiveled from side to side as I skimmed through the documents in my hand. I had spoken to Pearl's mother but I was shocked by her response. I realized that she brought Pearl to Hopkins because she wanted her dead.Thinking back now, I wondered how she got to know about the citadel. We have our agents out there who make contact with our prospective clients. That's how we get most of our students, but the case is different with Pearl. Since she has no super supernatural ability, no one met her parents. Her step mother contacted us herself.Yes, talking about Pearl. I almost declined her offer for admission. She is a normin and we don't accept normins. But at a closer look, I saw through her barrier. She only posed to be human, but she isn't. She is a supernatural being, one that she isn't aware of.And that was the dilemma. We don't accept her kind in Hopkins. At first, she is thought to be a normin but after seeing through her, I realized that her kind of supernatural
