Yuri’s pov:

“Care for a coffee?” Sarah offered, once we stepped out of the venue, together, as if we were some old time friends. “My treat?” She went on, when I kept looking at her, considering it, and weighing down my options.

“Uh, sure,” came my reply after a beat.

She walked with a little bit of peps to her steps, while I basically dragged myself around, the disappointment clearly too much for me. But then again, I should have known better than to hope for something that was never meant to be.

Rewriting history? Puh-lease!

All I did was make sure I didn’t bring a child into a loveless marriage… which in way was already plenty, but I had hoped for more, like the foolish and greedy Omega I was. That being said, Aurora was still her usual cunning self, and a damned good actress at that. Moreso, she had Leo wrapped around her little finger.

“Please don’t let today’s mess get to you,” Sarah let out softly, as she turned to face me abruptly. “In my opinion, you didn’t lose. On the

Yuri’s pov: Sophia truly had some nerve, acting so innocent and aggrieved at the same time. Truth be told, I could now see right through her, and could not be fooled by her act. “You’re excused,” I rolled my eyes at her. “The venom you spit is disgusting. Just shut up already.” “Who do you think you are?” She all but spluttered, getting red in the face in her anger, “Who gave you the right to talk to me like this?” “This right was earned after you schemed against me so many times…” I offered her a chilly smile, even as I gave her the stink eye. “I didn’t scheme against you,” she argued feebly. “You have it all wrong, Yuri…” “Right,” I scoffed. “It must have been someone else with the name Sophia who’s like your doppelganger.” “Don’t be like this, Yuri,” she sniffled, turning on the trick that often made me forgive her in the past, but her tears had no effect on me anymore. “I know you’re upset about the competition, but you can’t take your anger on me…” Great, more venom! I

Yuri’s pov: I didn’t know how many times I felt Leo’s stare burning into my back, as if to brand me. It followed me when I was laughing with Sarah. It seared through me when I was dancing with Jackson. I wasn’t sure what was wrong with Leo, and I didn’t care to know what had upset him. And yet, when he stormed off in the direction of his office, I was almost tempted to follow him, if only to taunt him and demand an explanation. “The golden pen is really popular,” Sarah let out teasingly, a smirk spreading across her face, when Jackson went to get me a drink. “I… I am not,” I blushed to my utter and complete dismay. “You really are,” she assured me, hooking her arm with mine. “But then again, with your stunning looks, your undeniable talent, and your sweet personality, I would be surprised if you weren’t.” “Oh, thank you,” I let out softly, unable to do anything but blush some more, as I nodded at her. Before Jackson could return, the waiter we had encountered in the cafe, the v

Yuri’s pov: There was no telling what would happen at the next pack gathering, and I honestly dreaded it. Since when did the pack even start celebrating the new moon? I guessed there was some announcement to be made, or something like that… otherwise, would he even bothering declaring that presence was mandatory for everyone not on pack duty?I heaved a sigh even as I put on the dress I had worn at the competition. Though the memory was bittersweet, seeing as I didn’t win, I at least managed to get an internship under David Stone. I remembered the card that came with the dress all too well. May the fates forever be in your favor, Yours, Jackson. Considering how Leo had done me dirty in the competition, and then dared to come looking for me in the cafe, his eyes full of emotions I would rather not dwell on, I had no intention of even glancing his way. The man was full of himself, as cunning and scheming as the one he called sweetheart, and the furthest one could be from bein

Yuri’s pov: Within a week, I became rather good friends with Sarah, whose mere presence could light up a room. Within a week, I also ran into Leo at least 3 times, and I managed to ignore him each time, as if he didn’t exist – as if he didn’t matter.Admittedly, I could feel him growing more annoyed with me each time I did. But I was more than stubborn enough to make sure I wouldn’t cave in. The man who had not hesitated to ruin me, and had caused his own daughter’s dea*th too, was hardly the perfect mate material. And I needed to forget he ever existed. I was on my way to class when I unexpectedly met Mr Brown. He was all warm smiles and soft eyes when he greeted me, “How have you been, Yuri?” “I’m okay,” I nodded at him gratefully. Sure, mom had checked up on me, and even helped lift my spirits up after the competition. But she didn’t know how much I was betting everything on the win that never came. “They did you wrong that day,” he released a heavy sigh, and I was ready to

Yuri’s pov: “Let’s talk, Yuri,” Leo’s voice reached my ears just as I rose to my feet, getting ready to leave. My skin prickled, but not with desire, or fear… The man was absolutely repulsive, in so many ways, I didn’t even know where to start. His beloved Aurora was nowhere in sight, as to be expected. If this encounter ended like any of our previous ones – and I intended to do my best to prevent that – chances were he dismissed his woman all on his own. Wasn’t it enough that he used me whenever and however he felt like it, with no remorse whatsoever? Wasn’t it enough that I was belittled time and time again, all because of him? Alpha or not, I didn’t have to put up with his shi*t, dam*n it! Moreso, now that my chance to shine and build something away from him and the pack was robbed out of my hands. And it was for this very reason that I completely ignored him. I sometimes couldn’t understand my own desperation to please him in my past life. In love or not, where was my digni
