It had been two weeks since Ava disappeared into the ocean, and still she had yet to be found.

There was no body, no scent trail, no answers.

My men and I had searched to no avail.

Laura had also been restless. She spent her days with the search-and-rescue team, hoping her sister would be found.

When my grandmother learned Ava had fallen overboard, she immediately mobilized every resource she could find.
