We sat in our hotel room, both staring at the box that sat on the coffee table in front of us. At this point, I had memorized every detail of the damn thing. Including the fact that it likely had a lock on it at one point which was now missing. So, it was safe to say that Anders had taken a look at what was inside.

It was getting harder to deny who Sutton was. It was the only explanation behind Anders’ apparent obsession with her and her family. It was also the one thing that could guarantee Sutton walked away from all this safely. It was an incredible card to have up our sleeve…

“We don’t have to open it,” Sutton suddenly blurted out. “Not here. Not right now.”

“No,” she asserted. “I don’t need to know anything right now. Nothing in that box changes anything. I love you. I don’t want anything but our life together. I’m glad I can get some answers but I don’t need them right now. I don’t want them right now. I just want to save us.”
