Do you think she is alright?”

“She will be fine, it’s just the pain”

“She’s been asleep for hours and it’s the full moon tonight. She needs to wake up”

Yvonne groaned as she opened her eyes and was almost blinded by the intensity of the light from the chandelier in her room.

And the headache was no joke either.

What happened and how did she get here?

But she didn’t need to think about that for long as the memories came rushing back with full force.

Damn it.

Deciding there and then that she would not think about it, she got up from the bed, drawing her mum’s, who was sitting at the table by her window, with Samantha and Becky.

They all rushed to her, their faces filled with worries and she frowned.

She wasn’t sick, nor did she have an accident. Why were they looking like someone died?

“Are you okay honey?” Her mother gushed, sitting beside her on the bed, the scent of her mild perfume soothing her nerves a little. “Your dad will be here any second.”

“Mum, I am fine” No need to treat her like the rejection disabled her. “It is just a rejection. You all don’t have to treat me like it’s something serious”

“A rejection is something serious. From what I’ve heard, the pain is worse than the pain of your bone crushing when you turn for the first time.” Becky chipped in “And I can’t imagine something that could hurt more than all my joints shifting and adjusting for the first time”

Yvonne’s throat tightened. The pain was ten times worse than the pain she had felt on her first shifting. She never thought for a second that there could be anything more painful than that, but she stood corrected.

“It’s over now, I’m fine” She whispered and shrugged out of her mum’s hold.

“I could kick that guys ass for reals, that was totally uncalled for”

Yvonne could have smiled at Samantha’s outburst if her head was not aching like some raging mother fucker.

She knew Sam meant her words.

“It was not his fault. He is married.”

“That does not give him an excuse to humiliate you in public like that”

With a sigh, Yvonne got down from the bed, j=her knees all wobbly, and her heart aching from the memories.

“I really don’t want to talk about this right now. I don’t want to talk about it ever again, so please let’s drop it. It happened and no one is to be blamed for it but me. For having stupid expectations and dreams”

“Oh honey….” Her mother came to stand in front of her, her blue eyes filled with unshed tears. “You chose to believe. What happened was not your fault, baby girl. Don’t blame yourself for wanting something beautiful”

“It's 5pm Yvonne. Maybe you could feel better after you run in the woods tonight”

Oh right, it’s the night of the full moon. Does that mean that she had been asleep since yesternight?

NO wonder she was feeling dizzy.

Excusing herself from them, with no intentions to continue with the conversation, she walked to the bathroom.

Right there, as she was washing away the lather of foams minutes later all over her body, Samantha decided that she was done believing in shit and having silly expectations. She would find her own happiness herself not wait for the goddess to hand it to her.

She was done wasting her life.

But first, she was going to release her wolf tonight and run out all the frustrations and pain of the night before.

If there was anything that could make her feel better, that could take away this numb feeling in her gut, it was the woods. It would be to climb to the peak of the mountain and howl into the moon.

And she was going to that.. Then from the next morning, she would v officially start an upgrade to Yvonne 2.0.

The hours passed by too slowly to Yvonne’s liking.

Or maybe it was because she was not doing anything tangible with her time other than watching the clock.

She had convinced her family that she was fine and that she needed some time alone to think.

Thankfully they eventually left after hours of towering over her.

As much as she appreciated the concern, he really meant it when she said she didn’t need anyone’s pity. It only made her feel worse. What she needed was a good run.

When it was already 9pm, she picked up her duffel bag and headed out of the apartment, her heart already racing in excitement.

This was her favorite part of being a werewolf. The days she could unleash her better half, and let her roam, wild and free.

Yvonne jogged down the street, and she could see some more werewolves rushing out of their apartments with bags.

She greeted some of them on her way, until she got to an abandoned park in the city and went to her spot. Which was under a big oak tree in the forest.

She dropped the bag, and was certain that no one else was around undressed till she was totally naked, standing under the brightness of the full moon.

And that was how Marcel saw her, seconds before he felt his bone crushing, preparing for transformation.

At that first glance, all he could think of was that he had set eyes on an angel.

He kept his eyes fixed on the lady miles away from him, who was oblivious of his presence as she spread her arms out, and twirled around in a little dance, her red curly hair, like fire shone brighter from the, and her skin were glowing as the light of the moon reflected off her.

There were no words to describe such beauty. Marcel knew that he should probably leave her be, since this looked like a very private moment, but he stayed staring at her, her wild green eyes dancing along to the erotic sway of her full hips, and her smile illuminated the surrounding just like the brightness of the moon.

And for a moment his mind was cut away from the beauty before him as a sharp pain hit his knees, and he crumbled down on his knees with a groan.

He fought the urge to wail out in pain, as he heard the crushing sound of his own bones and his joints shifting and giving way to the bone structure of his other half.

Slowly he felt his humanity slip away, as the beast in him resurfaced with a rage.

And then he was on all fours, his mind trapped somewhere beneath the mid of his wolf.

He looked up and saw another wolf, staring back at him with an angry green eye.

Hell, he hadn’t noticed the girl turning. She must have sensed his presence.

Marcel grew skeptical for a moment as he wondered what she could do. He could feel her strength and had no doubt that he had almost no chance against this one.

Plus, he was a very inexperienced one.

But she blinked twice then snapped around and raced off into the woods with a very swift speed.

He took just three seconds to recover before running after her.

What was he doing?

But there was obviously something about her that drew his wolf’s attention.

He knew he needed to follow her, he needed to know her.

He felt his wolf calling out to her, yearning for her and her touch.

And he did.

He followed and kept running after her, till she ran up the highest mountain in the forest, tossed her head in the sky, and howled loudly into the full moon.

The cry…the desperate yet painful cry broke Marcel.
